This movie was overshadowed by Boyz N The Hood & it’s one of the only few hood classics to have a happy ending. Fun Facts: Glenn Plummer & Byron Minns were also in Trepass, Baldwin Skyes & The late Lexie Bigham were in Boyz N The Hood, Vincent Craig Dupree (Loco) went toe to toe with Jason & got his head knocked off in Friday The 13th Part VII: Jason Takes Manhattan. This movie also showed the the importance of having a good barber because Jimmy had a bowl haircut.
This was and is my favourite hood movie
I don’t consider this movie “underrated”, but South Central is one of those movies that isn’t talked about enough in my opinion. We talk about Boyz N the Hood, Menace II Society, and Juice but at times this movie gets left out the conversation. It’s that movie where it’s exclusively seen by Black people.
I didn’t know until recently that this movie was directed by a White man. Majority of the “hood” classics were directed by either Ernest Dickerson, John Singleton, or The Hughes Brothers all who are Black. Nonetheless, I love the message it sends towards Black men and their sons. How Ali was able to turn Bobby’s life around because he saw hope in Bobby and didn’t want to end up in the predicament he was in which was life imprisonment. Another one of my favorite movies that I’ll never get tired of.
😂 “Gotta go Bobby, can’t be alone in here” Loco
OG Bobby Johnson Babymama always gave me Shunaynay from Martin vibes
Every single time I hear "THANKS RAY RAY" I crack up immediately and reply that line like 5 times 🤣🤣🤣😄
"I want his dessert for fifteen years!!!" Is a line that will always and forever live in my head rent free. Great review 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mine too!😂
Budda played the same role in Ricochet.
The little boy reenactment had me hollering 🤣🤣 also Bobby carrying his baby everywhere he went no matter how inappropriate is also hilarious to me 😂 Great Review!
"Oh shit! Thanks Ray Ray!" Girl are too damn funny!!!!🤣🤣🤣
South Central is my all time favorite hood classic movie. I love the message to fathers and sons and how uplifting/ inspirational it is. It definitely deserves more love like other hood classics like New Jack Swing, Boyz in the Hood, Menace 2 Society and Juice. This was another good review.
Jay Rocks “Sho u right Ray Ray” is said in my household to this day 😂😂😂😂
I love this movie! It had a message. It played to your heartstrings and common sense. It showed a redemption story. It's much deeper than what most people give it credit for.
This was one of my dad's favorite movies, may he RIP. Thanks for reviewing. Your reenactments are the best!
Sherm was pretty popular amongst gang members and hood people in general in the 80s and 90s especially on the westcoast
Bobby Is what you would call a foot soldier until he murdered Jimmy then he became an OG
Nurse Shelly was Daquan (Bokeem) mom in STRAPPED
She was also Robert Townsend’s mom in Odd Jobs & Hollywood Shuffle, she was Savannah’s mom in Waiting To Exhale & she was in Friday After Next.
And another thing.... How come they couldn't find a barber who knew how to fade for the set 🤣🤣🤣 J-Rock was looking so damn crazy in that movie 🤣
"Get OUTTA here Carol!" LMAO
It's official, I am addicted to your channel! I have been binging your reviews for 2 days now and I am very amused. You have a gift for breaking down these classics and exploring their meaning in depth. Plus your personality is a joy to watch
Thank you so much ! ❤
I never realized so many big names were associated with this movie
South Central has always been that hood movie that got lost between Boyz in the Hood and Menace to Society! Thanks for the review 😊
Lmaooooo. We be so in sync. 🤣. I started singing that Mary J at thee exact same time you did in thee vid. 😂😂😂..
😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
This is a hood classic. I don't know if this movie helped us or hurt us cause Five-Deuce is the biggest gang in our city and we ain't from South Central.
I actually learned how to play Honkyball after watching this movie...🏓
This here is a MAUNN!!! (Dude had psycho eyes)
The two lead guys were in another movie called trespass
I remember that one with Bill Paxton and IceT!
You funny as hell woman ❤😂👏🏾
I can't watch your videos at work anymore because I screamed when I seen Mary J dancing 🤣😂
😂😂😂❤❤❤
The intro tyraaaaa🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can we give it up to the nurse who took care of Jimmy? She showed more love than Carole.
Primm did a review of this and he kept clowning that dude named Genie Lamp 😆
I was just thinking about this movie!
Great and funny review. I’ve subscribed and am about to watch again now. 😂😂😂 The “WHAT” took me all the way out. Lol
Thanks for the subbing 💕
Loco was an idiot. Bobby was better than me. I wouldn't have protected him. He was the reason why Bobby went to prison. Bobby was definitely loyal to the wrong people.
In a way Loco actually saved his life. He did get him caught up, but that leads to him going to prison and eventually changing for the better. Had he not gone he would have stayed on the streets and Ray Ray would’ve gotten him killed.
Great review, Glenn Plummer has always been a great actor from Menace 2 Society, Showgirls, Funny Farm
Love this movie
The boy who played loco is really crazy
your Ji8mmy impressions are hilarious. lol
Gurl, your review was awesome, I love the animated voice you use when doing Loco.
Thank you! 😊
Have you done a review for JD's Revenge?
Yep
I'm not sure that you've reviewed School Daze before, if not go for it 😆
You crack me up cracking yourself up lol… you said everything I thought. Love this movie! It’s funny how when I was younger I never paid attention to the bad acting, but now…. Chile…. That baby Jimmy, I can’t! Lol I also loved the Ali character; although overacted, I thought his performance was strong
I can't believe I JUST found your channel. Not only are you very good at breaking a movie down to its essence, but you're FUNNY AS FUCK!!! You got a new subscriber. Please keep up the good work!

"And wasn' it sad how Loco had the habbit ?
Didn't rocket have the same gun that the old man shot OG Bobby Johnson's son in the back with
Or do I got it backwards
And Bobby Johnson was the one that put his fist up to the glass
And Caine put his fist up and dapped it"- Lupe
I haven't seen this movie. Great review and reaction 👍🏾.
Maybe one day Hollywood will leave the Marvel movies in the past and focus on quality cinema again.
Opening funny as all hell😂😂😂😂

Enjoyed your review 👍 thanks ray ray lol
Glad you enjoyed it😂
20:18-20:58 couldn’t take that scene seriously 🤣🤦🏾♂️.
South Central is one of those positive hood movies with a happy ending, but it got overshadowed by the likes of Boyz N The Hood & Menace ii Society, which are timeless classics, however South central really touched upon the problem and void of the black community. Black boys (or boys in general) are wilding out and getting in trouble and getting easily influenced by what they see on the streets because the father is absent, whether he’s dead or locked up, and all while the kid suffers by the father’s cycle of hate.
I was wondering. How much would it be for you to review a TV show. I'd love to see you talked about My Brother and Me. It's 12 or 13 episodes I believe. Created by a writer who wrote for San Ford and Son and other shows. He also created the sitcom, City Guys. I think he's even still open to doing interviews if you were to contact him too
They always getting 30 year olds to play teenagers 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 EVERYTIME!
That's why I have a problem with rappers most dudes I know have a track record from juvenile some as young as 12 and 13 either they n prison or dead
Lol good review 👏. This is a classic
Give me the drink
I wonder what could've been done to make Carol look more youthful 🤔.. but at thee same time, her costume design my have been to implicate her having to grow up fast.. and that makes me kinda wish we would've got a lil more info on Carol.. but uk how alot of those movies were back then.. Black Ppl were juss starting to get an ounce of power in the entertainment industry.. and the Black writers would include alot of fleshed out character developing scenes & dialogue. That would round out everything & make shihh make sense.. but in thee final cuts, many of the White Higher Ups would cut the bulk of it out to fit their racist stereotypical desires. 🤡😭..
The movie 'Bones' is an example of that as well . They cut alot of valuable things out of thee movie before its release. It was really suppose to have more focus on the love story between Jimmy Bones & Pam Grier.. & thee omission of that love story, made thee movie extra wacky, tacky & confusing..
A Beautiful, Dope & Funny Review To A Classic Movie, I Love It!!!!
