I’m so glad I just ran into this. I was blessed with a 60-year career as a studio singer and in the 1960’s I had the honor and the joy of working on the Dean Martin Show for 6 years as a member of an 8-voice backup group, 4 guys and 4 gals. Dean was a consummate professional, so kind and genuine to everyone. The whole drinking thing was an act, the glass had apple juice in it. Yes he loved his family fiercely and he loved us gals but always with the deepest respect. I have the most wonderful memories of those years and truly miss my old boss.

Diana, thanks for sharing this. I've heard many times the drinking was a shtick. Recently, I've also heard the Sinatra-Martin duo was more professional than buddy buddy, simply because Sinatra was a nighttime partier and Dean was home with the family.

I don't see 'was' anywhere in the original comment. Plus it seems like the op is talking directly to Martin which is impossible. Also, RIP, capitalized with the other words in the sentence and spelled with no periods, (R.I.P.), RIP could mean you are great or you're doing really well or you're awesome.
The last sentence, with no punctuation, could be understood as
'NUFF SAID BABY LOVE, YOU DEAN ARE AWESOME.' I would write it thus,
"Nuff said baby, love you Dean, R.I.P.'
The commas group thoughts together, it makes understanding those thoughts much quicker for the reader.

Dean is probably my favorite male singer of all time. He was the kind of guy you'd like to meet in person. My aunt saw Dean walking through the casino she was at, and she called his name "Dean! Dean!" but he probably didn't hear her. When he saw her disappointment, he stopped immediately, and said hello to her. Regis Philbin used to say that Dean was his favorite singer as well, and in his office, Regis had a lot of Dean Martin memorabilia, and every record that Dean ever released. How great is that...a star idolizing an even bigger star!

He appears laid back. Doesn't allow work to take over his life. He enjoys his work which makes it easy to go to work. My own husband was like that. He gave up a job that paid well but did not enjoy. Took a job that was physically hard but enjoyed completely. He said that because he enjoyed it. It was stress free. Which made him laid back. But he was a hard worker when he worked.
