Brilliant Dan loved Steph's video today, I have said it to you before " You are such a hard worker you deserve all the accolades you get " Well done my boy well done.
So happy that Stephanie of Chateau Diaries introduced you to us, the viewers. You've come a long way, Dan, since your humble beginnings at Lalande. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely loved the "Multiplicity" vibes from this video. Also really neat to have an explanation with a visual 👌 I'm beyond invested in this rebuild. Great work Dan!
When I look at the inside of the building where Dan is working I freak a little because it looks so "crumbly" and not as solid . Gotta hope and pray that all continues to go well with him. He's such a cool guy and very down-to-earth considering his well-deserved popularity on RUclips....Soldier on Dan and we too ,who are his faithful subscribers (LOL)
So very proud of you Dan. I’ve watched you from the very beginning when you joined Stephanie as the gardener and always enjoyed everything you accomplished. I’ve been in your corner from the beginning. Stephanie is a true friend, giving credit where due. Her tribute to you was fantastic. Everything that she crammed into her vlog I’ve seen and then some. She is incredibly happy for you. The dinner she brought with Philip was great . Your boys are lucky to have a dad like you and some day will reap the vision your working towards in rebuilding this beautiful château. See you tomorrow ❤❤❤
How clever are you with your clones doing all the work Dan. Sending you a good old Australian pat on the back, you have achieved so much since you first arrived at Lalande and came into our lives.
That ability to just let it go (as the scaffolding falls over) is why you are able to keep going. The panning out to the pile of twisted metal and debris is a nod to the trials you've overcome and the ones to come yet ahead. I don't know what you are like off camera, Dan, but while on, your focus and ability to keep on in the midst of it all is rather breath taking. Thank you for taking us all along for the ride.🐎
Lol @ "I really really need to get a better scaffolding" I literally said it just before you did Great job though man. Pretty impressive amount of work you've got done
Watched Stephanie's video. I started watching a few years ago and it was nice to see your humble beginnings. Loved the special effects in this vlog, definitely becoming a great story teller!
We would be in better shape if there WERE MORE DAN's in this world. Great editing Dan. I liked how you were talking and there were 3-4 Dans working behind you....genius!!! So fun watching your videos!!! So many talents wrapped up into one "Dan"!!!

I wish there were three of you Dan. I saw the tribute that Stephanie did to you Dan, it was so very nice and so glad you are loved and viewed by so many people. You have amazed me with all your skills since I first saw you arrive at Stephanie's Chateau. Your work skills and ethic are amazing. So sorry that tipped over for you. Where were those other two Dans??? lol With as work you are going to be doing, you sure need scaffolding with lockable wheels for moving it around. All the best Dan.
The way you do your videos is amazing! Such talent you have. What I find that makes your project so interesting is the way you talk to the camera, making it feel like you are talking to us as if we were there with you. Will apologize beforehand, but, I did burst out laughing when the scaffolding fell over. You don't gloss over anything. You do keep it real. Thank you. The highlight of my day 🏰❤️❤️🏰
So as I suspected that was divided with a wall on at least the first floor. I am guessing front half was dining room and back was stairs and possibly a breakfast room in the back corner? An original floorplan would be fantastic if it exists somewhere.
Maybe he could replace the post and later, have french doors on each side or just one with a glass panel (or wall) on the other side. Thank goodness he caught that before adding any more weight!
IMO that discovery makes the front room even more unlikely to have been the dining room. The partition in the doorway only makes sense if it continued as a wall between the landing at the top of the basement stairs and the front room. That means walking up the stairs you'd probably run into a wall and have to turn right into the main hall. That would lead you right to the door of the massive middle room. Considering what we've been told about the layout of French stately homes of the era that middle room is more likely to have been the dining room because it has internal doors to the adjacent room, which would then have been the salon. Turning left from the stairs could have led into the small corner room next to the stairs, probably some kind of utility area. That leaves a small section between the two large windows, the bit with the small window high above the floor. That might have been a dressing room for the front room, assuming that was a bedroom. Our French art historian suggested the window would have been that high for privacy.

Remember folks, Dan isn't an everyman amateur builder battling against incredible odds. Dan is a brilliant filmmaker creating a movie about an everyman builder battling against incredible odds. It's gonna be ok, the drama is part of the movie.
It will be OK, I am sure, meanwhile the rest of us have heart attacks irtually every day just watching. As he says the building is saving him, not the other way around and I think most of us have seen that play out for a long while.
I really thought you could never be duplicated but you went and proved me wrong! Lol! Glad that scaffold didn't go down with "all of YOU" on it! Stay safe!
Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Double Dan. Triple Dan. Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Hey this could be made into a song. I don’t think anyone finds more excitement in seeing tapping sanding scooting and painting those beams than over 20,000 viewers! Nine minutes have never went faster in my life. Thank God that scaffolding wasn’t on the third floor. I’m amazed that the tiles on the bottom or holding up so strongly. Good job
Hey Dan! Great work! ... and, its probably a good thing that you found that issue with the beam now, before anything happened, so, you can fix it. But, i wonder, are there any markings on the walls of either room to indicate if that missing support was a wall or just a pillar ... might mean there's another beam or something somewhere that needs some extra support.
It's been up like that for a long while, so it's unlikely to have further issues without tell tale signs like cracks etc. All the main internal floors are gone (Some bathroom ones remain) steel supports are in place but fire damaged so all need replacing anyway, so if there is a problem, Dan will stumble into it!?!
I'd assume there used to be a stud wall separating the basement stairs from the other ground floor room. I wonder if that pillar between the two doorways collapsed during the fire or whether an ill-advised builder removed that much earlier to widen the opening!
Very Proud of you Dan! In reaching a million views every couple of days! Been watching since you started doing the vlogs, I think I’m the 1st who pointed out the open zipper, haha! Cheers Kirk
Some fancy footage there of you and your identical siblings, you've come a long way on yer tod and are doing a fantastic job. Bravo.... Just stay safe 😯
Great to see the extra Dan’s 😮 all will be finished quicker. Really enjoyed Stephanie’s vlog about your early days and the amazing work you did in the garden, fantastic Dan. Love all that you do ❤
Dan, Dan,Dan, & Dan, another brilliant day and important find of the missing support column, love the editing today, I only wish there was 4 of you working together to bring the chateau back to life. Stephanie’s homage to you tonight was really great to watch too, until tomorrow K🇬🇧❤️
Loving the overlay of yourself talking while you work. Very informative, and no need for a several-minute solo chat at the end (If you don't want to every time!)
I've been watching Dan everyday for over two weeks. Without counting the past videos he has done. Why aren't there any fans outside cheering him on, or helping him? I want to buy a plane ticket from Montreal just to pick up his rubble.
Good morning team Dan ❤ Woooooooow 😳wondering why anyone would take out a structural support pillar …. Pose to make the doorway wider 🤷♀️😑… so glad you found it in time … I bet deep down your kinda pleased to be at the reconstruction from the shell stage ,finding and replacing and mending all the teething problems left behind ☹️…. Glad 🙂 Nicks not far away from arriving … beam time ❤❤❤❤ Rest easy and we will see you tomorrow 🥰
It could have collapsed during the fire or the 35 years afterwards with no roof. I noticed the strip of missing plaster before Dan pointed out the problem so unless that area was covered with something (plasterboard, paneling, whatever) I don't think the pillar was removed deliberately. On the other hand, how likely is it for a solid brick column to just crumble away as long as there's weight on top of it? A freestanding column can topple over quite easily but the lintel above is still in great condition. All very strange!
Aww Stephanie x Philip adore you! That video was so sweet. Great job so far. I’m so proud of you for taking on such a daunting task . In my mind we’re bff’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love seeing all the progress.

Cheers Kirk
More of the Sorcerers Apprentice! You are quite amazing, Dan, a true polymath.
Just watched Stephanies vlog. You are an absolute star. I haven't laughed out loud for a long time. Loving your channel. X
Yes better scaffolding is needed. Having the right tools for the job will make your life easier. Steph did a great job on her Dan dedication video.
I love learning the specific details of the architecture. Good one today.
the moment the scaffolding fell down - Dan's reaction LOL - my whole day's like this😂
Well done Dan👌👏
I really thought you had helpers and I was so happy for you. You trickster.
Go for it!
Watching yourself work! How cool is that?😳👏🏻
Good morning team Dan ❤
Woooooooow 😳wondering why anyone would take out a structural support pillar …. Pose to make the doorway wider 🤷♀️😑… so glad you found it in time … I bet deep down your kinda pleased to be at the reconstruction from the shell stage ,finding and replacing and mending all the teething problems left behind ☹️….
Glad 🙂 Nicks not far away from arriving … beam time ❤❤❤❤
Rest easy and we will see you tomorrow 🥰
In my mind we’re bff’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love seeing all the progress.
love the multi Dan clips
when the sound issue started, i thought you had a found a wasp nest...
Stephanie has a tribute to you video up. well done Dan.
Only if Dan could clone himself to help him get the support beams in. 😊 I hundred percent agree with you Dan getting the floors so you can get the roof on before fall/ winter, but please pay attention to the plywood has already gotten wet. Your safe is paramount. Please take care of yourself Dan! Thank you
The Tribute from Stephanie was just lovely your a hard working great guy Dan...0h that scaffolding can't wait til you get something better see you tomorrow 😊
The new format of a split screen or whatever you call the narrative description over the working videos are great! Heather

Finally, it was about time you hired a couple more guys to help you, Dan. When are you going to introduce them to us?
They’re both called Dan.
He's going to need a bigger tent :)

Lots of extra hands on deck today, Dan. Funny thing, is they all look like you! Great camera work and all the rest of it.
Great editing. At first I thought thank goodness he has some help.... so many Dan's doing all the work. Take care. Stefanies' video regarding you was fabulous. Friends are worth more than gold.
So happy to see you so excited. You are doing an amazing job!
You're my new hero. I'm deeply admirative. I had planned to pay contractors for restauring my 2nd restauration project but I'm a self made man like you and I can do it myself. Thank you for the inspiration
Brilliant! Love the multiple Dan video style:) So fun to see it all coming to life!!
