Ciara, I just wanted to thank you for how freely you share your life with an internet person. It is like going to hang out with a buddy, and I feel quite a bit less lonely. One of my favorite classic movies is My Man Godfrey. But you can never go wrong with any of the Thin Man movies .
The original of The Women with Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer is amazing.
Also the original "Auntie Mame" with Rosalind Russell (who was also in The Women)
so so so much better than the remake!
The AFI's top 100 is a good place to check, but I definitely 2nd 'The Women' (1939) and 'Arsenic and Old Lace' (1942)
It Happened One Night is an excellent movie. Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.

I'd recommend Pocket full of miracles with Betty Davis.
A few classic movies I love are Niagara, Some like it hot and To have and have not.
Fiddler on the roof is my favorite.
I even have a minimalist tattoo of it on my forearm
May I suggest “From Here to eternity” and “Mr Roberts”, two excellent films taking place around the military. Both have star studded casts and though they take place during WWll, are not what you’d call war movies. Highly recommend either or both! Cheers!

You're not the first Irish person I've heard pronounce Nike "Nye-k". Here in the U.S. we say "Nye-key". I'm starting to wonder which is right. Not that it really matters, everyone knows what you're referring to no matter how you say it. I'm just curious. If anyone has any insight please let me know.
It’s Nye-key, the name of a Greek god, just shortened because that’s what we do in America. Much like Porsche, is not pronounced Porsch. As it was Ferdinand Porsche’s (the man who designed and produced the car) name....
