Just a reminder, but most female witches have those stones. Emira in particular wears hers in the same manner as Lilith; with a very similar location and general shape. For others, like Willow and Amity, it's an optional thing, worn around the neck with those two, the former as a clasp with a light green oval gem(episode 6) and the latter with a more traditional shape on a necklace(Adv. in the Elem.). It's definitely something to keep in mind though should we see Lilith in different clothing, whether her gem is physically embedded similar to Eda's situation.
I have a theory that Eda was cursed by a human, And honestly I don't think its a theory with how much information they have given us. Its like they are slapping us over the face with information. The Good Witch Azura. Azura's books exist both in the Human Realm and in the Boiling Isles implying that whoever is making them has access to both. Eda's Dream has the shape in a white Doorway of the person who cursed her, and while this could just be something to show obscurity like the shade of the character, The Door Eda uses to go into the Human World also Appears like a bright white light when its open. As well as The Owl House after show has been giving people glimpses of obvious things like The Good Witch Azura fighting a 2 headed woman. "two witches torn apart" The conflicting information with this though is that eda and her sister have always been different people. and in the same cover someone that looks remarkably like eda and King are on the cover of the Azura book facing toward the 2 headed witch. I think its safe to assume though because Azura is fiction the person writing it is taking elements and mixing them to create a story. The good Witch Azura cursed Eda.
Does anybody else think that perhaps he does parents or someone who knew both the sisters were the ones who cursed them so they would stop fighting when they came together to fix the curse but that never happened and that they were stuck the way they are
Maybe they were cursed as children because they seemed to powerful. If you look at how Eda behaved during school she had some strong magic even the teachers couldn’t break. Her parents could have seen this and brought them to someone who could make sure they didn’t have to much power.
Willow also had a stone on her chest when she’s not in her school uniform so she might be cursed but I doubt it, if she is she might be cursed as something plant like because she’s very powerful with plant magic

Her betrayal is what either gave her sister the curse or what activated it. This would explain the endless patience and help she's always trying to give her sister, but never shows that sort of kindness to anyone else. Also considering how much of a trouble maker Eda was as a child i could see Lilith having a hard time making friends with her sister being such a nuance. Furthermore, even though Eda is a troublesome child she is clearly a genius. Or even beyond genius, she did after all learn TONS of magic at an early age, and then continue to learn TONS more without teachers or any coven help. This could have made being her normal sister Lilith even harder. At school she was compared as the nuance girls sister, while at home the genius's dumber younger average sister. All these factors could have pushed Lilith to join the cool kids and somehow curse Eda, leaving Lilith with never ending guilt.

Its possible that the Heart Stones are a by product of a curse, but its also possible that it is magical mutation that only happens to witches when they reach a certain age. For all we know, it has something to do with their staffs, as they are also the only characters who have wielded magical staffs on screen. I think there is a connection, as in Eda's is part of her, but I'm not sure about Lilith. There is just too little data to go on.
One big hole in this theory is that we don't know for sure that what Lilith has is a "heartstone" it has no more evidence pointing towards being part of Lilith's body than Emira's stone being apart of her body. And every other part of the theory was based on Eda and Lilith both having them and being the only ones to have them.

(My Opinion) I do believe that Eda was cursed by her own sister Lillith as punishment for not joining the Emperors Coven,I also believe that Eda's sister Lillith might be cursed not physically like eda but Emotionally Like the curse forces lillith to act one way than the other
(Just a lil theory of mine) I'm thinking that one future episode Lilith and the other people in Emperors Coven with force Eda to join and erase Luz's memory so Eda can join the Coven
Willow and Emira both have stons aswell, if you see all the witches with casual clothing, they hav stones aswell, the male witches dont ahve stones though. The interestingthing is that amity does not have a stone in her chest, even with casual clothing, instead a necklace, I believe that Amity wears the artificially made necklace as a soure of power!

I think all witches have a jewel in there chest. We haven’t seen any wizard like Gus or Edrik with a jewel so maybe it only happens to witches

while watching the show i was confused when Lilith was first introduced, of why she would have a stone on her chest as well, but then it was found out that they were sisters and it all made sense! im definitely supporting this theory and have high hopes for the future episodes!

Maybe the come from a family who all have a bird as a symbol for themselves that they can turn into but something happen in their childhood so that their bird forms would become cursed and uncontrollable that could be why the owl house is owl themed

Also, at the end of the coven episode, Lilith speaks to someone about deal and what was promised to her. Perhaps they offered her a cure for her curse in return for Eda’s capture. But that’s a strong maybe
Lilith may have been cursed but like it is said. The emporer can heal a curse making it where lilith is no longer cursed.
