That’s exactly how I am feeling! Such a release of memories and emotions, so blessed to have grown up in the 80’s. I was lucky enough to see Midge last year (2023) at the 80’s gig in Shrewsbury, if you’ve never been…..go!
Used to play my ultravox album in the 80's while making sure my hair was perfect before hitting the disco, now in 2018 am 100% bald and now i just sit here with memories.
This live version intro is brilliant reminds me of my wife who passed of cancer last year just before we was due to see midge ure live she never got to see him only in slick when he was younger 😔 ❤
I had the privilege of opening for Midge at a concert in the late 80s....most powerful music time of my life. And Midge is the coolest, nicest guy you could ever know.
I saw Ultravox live in the early 80s at the Kabuki Theater on Geary in San Francisco. I was so lucky that I scored a ticket, as this show sold out big time. None of my friends, who wanted to see this concert, got in. It was quite a treat, pure bliss... 😎
This is how British pop music once was. They murdered it with rap and sub mediocre solo artists, instead of having pop groups/rock bands like this as it's core format.
Only a small handful of bands from the 80s and earlier can play live with the same intensity as they had in their youth....They played that stage like it was fucking LIVE AID 1985....I am so proud of them. Midge Ure is such an inspiration to me as a musician and living proof that even just one member change can transform the entire band and its career. Great frontman! Love that moment when he got the crowd pumped about Billy Currie's epic synth solo. One of the greatest musical interludes I have ever heard in a song.
I did indeed follow them! I was absolutely mad about Ultravox, such a Shame it didn't last for long... But who cares? I meant [hey still rock nowadays even though they parted ways! Absolute Legends!👌🏻🎵🎶🎵💞💯%
@@XanAxDdu His name is JIM which says MIJ backwards (spelled Midge to avoid confusion). He changed it because in his original band there were two people called Jim. I had the pleasure of supporting the band SLIK some years ago and Midge Ure is a gentleman and proper musician. He never gets the credit he deserves for his idea to have BAND AID as Bob Geldof took over as the front man for that. Midge Ure remains one of my favourite guys in music.

The ORIGINAL ''ULTRAVOX'' line up (LIVE) in their OLDER BODIES & MINDS, Such a beautiful melodic song and Energy and great to see the older muso's smiling during their performance, remembering a great song and a time of Synthesizer music at the very start of the 80's. Such a big influence to me to many other Musicians !!
A-1 ...this still brings a tear to my eye this .I saw them in concert at Manchester and Blackpool on the Brilliant tour last year and got to meet Midge Warren and Billy after ,the highlight of my life .Hope to see them with simple Minds in Manchester in a few weeks to
Without any words...u just feel how deep hes into his music with heart and soul. This energy he transports is unbelievable...and this song one of my favourites of all time.
Ancient Greeks used to say that "Only Gods and animals can live without music". Yes, music is a medicine for some people's soul and mind, including me.
I second AudioAgenda's thoughts here; one of the greatest bands ever, not just out of the UK. I can't even watch this without getting goosebumps. I still have every album they ever made, on cassette tapes, vinyl and CD....all of them I still have. I love many other bands and artists from the 80's but Ultravox stands alone as the greatest of all time, in my opinion. I would have given ANYTHING to be able to be there at this concert!
Marzenia jednak się spełniają. Całe życie czekałem żeby Ich zobaczyć razem na scenie. Nie zapomnę tego wieczoru do końca życia!!!! Hymn rozjebał mnie na kawałki.
My dear. They are fucking awesome. I watched this clip, listened to it roughly about 10 million times. It still makes me cry happy, moves me more than a fucking atomic bomb and gives me chills all over my body.. Ultravox rules, forever.
Guauuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.........DIOS.....!!!!!!!!!QUE TEMAZO,FUÉ MI HIMNO DURANTE CASI TODA MI VIDA........GRACIAS ULTRA"VOX"........VOX,VOX,VOX.......VIVA ULTRAVOX,HOY MAS QUE NUNCA!!!!!!!!!!!
Epic ! Been to see Midge live tonight at Blackburn KGH ! No it wasn't ULTRAVOX, but Midge had assembled a great band and he was still on top form, sang all the hits (plus Fade to Grey), amazing artists from the 1980's! And I just Love Billy Currie, and amazing multi instrumentalist who also contributed to much of Gary Numan's most successful work! He is a 'Northern lad, from the same county as 'The Spiders from Mars' ! dx
Glad I got to see them when they got back together. R.I.P Chris, that thumping bass line will forever be your trademark. You will be sorely missed.
Yeah. The bass line of "Hymn" is my all time favorite. It comes so often to my mind and I am humming it for no reason so many times. Bye Chris.
and kids...this is how you make timeless music. Legends!
One of the best live versions... Audience doing a great job... Musicians are obviously delighted by the appreciation...
This is heavenly overwhelming! I'm in tears watching them smiling while in my mind their young selves mixed throughout the song.

Relax.. so does everyone else
Aww, it’s rotten losing your hair. Especially if it was part of your image. My son has tons at 17. I tell him to enjoy it while he has it😁

Wow!!! How awesome
Love this song! This concert version is the best! Power knocks!
I prefer the recorded version better pitch and production but this live version is ok even though Midge was running out of Puff.
Super Ultravox!!!! Mr. Midge Ure as one of the most powerful and beautiful voices ever walked on a stage.....Unrivaled talent and class
More than 35 years , and this song sounds like this time
No it does not. It is played in a lower key. Easier to sing. But I must admit... the song has not lost its magic. It is still a hymn. :-)
@@DerStreuner Agreed.

So proud he is from Scotland seen him many times his vocals are great
Midge Ure the silent man of rock. Not only Ultravox but Thin Lizzy and one of the main people behind Band Aid

Still incredible, real artists, what you get on CD you get live too. Respect.
