Thank you for the flight. So much like flying with my dad, a former B-17 pilot. Had 3 different Bonanzas during his life. I sat in the right seat when we flew from Alaska to lay over in Oregon, on our way to Calif. Missed his Oregon ETA by 8 seconds. He laughed and said he would do better next time. Did his preflight homework, flew by the book and never exceeded his limits. Thank you for bringing back good memories.
Juan is a professional airline pilot. View this as the best, most professional interaction with ATC. He did ask Ground Control for directions to his terminal. I got my private pilot, single engine, land, license in 1976. I remember my first solo landing at a controlled airport (Teterboro in New Jersey). I was scared, how do I do this? I told approach control my situation. He slowed down, started speaking plain english and talked me through the whole procedure. I learned a lot from him that day. I have great respect for air traffic controllers, if you are not a pro don't try to sound like one. Both you (the pilot) and he (the controller) have one goal in mind, your safe landing at the airport. I stopped flying soon after I moved to Albuquerque, NM. The altitude (5,000 feet MSL) and hot weather would make it seem more like 10,000 feet and made it to difficult for a beginning pilot. Now my only general aviation activity now is with hot air ballooning (Albuquerque, Hot Air Capital of the World). If you can make it to Albuquerque, first week in October, the greatest show on earth, Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (sorry, had to throw that in). Thank you, Juan, for all your excellent and informative videos.
I really enjoyed the video, why, because it helps understand the proper communication with atc, letting down early, getting a good gradual glide, all that stuff you know as a professional pilot that helps me as a low time guy to do it right. There is more that you can do here for us. Thanks. Oh I would love to fly the world class Bonanza.
This is one of the Most interesting videos that I ever seen. Your videos are Entertaining,Educational and Enjoyable. I call that fulfilling "The Three E's". Not many people can do that all the time like you do,Juan. Kudos
I LOVED this one. I live about two miles from the airport, near Rattlesnake Mountain. I used to fly this in FSX all the time, until I got a new computer that won't run that program any longer. My armchair piloting days are over. But I love your videos, and I'm a subscriber.
It is SOOOOOOOOOOO different this year for WATER and SNOW compared to last year. Everyone needs to do a rain dance.. Thank you Juan for the Sierra Overview..!!
You talked about not landing on the wrong runway.... My mom was pilot as we were heading home from Florida to Texas in the late 70’s. We were still in Florida and needed to land. My Mom lined up and was talking to the tower and landed at the wrong airport! It was a Naval airbase. She got to meet the commander, naturally! An hour or two or three later, with the standard military fire suppression on on hand, she powered up the Cessna and we headed out!
Indeed !My uncle was the flight instructor. Some one who had a lot of pull from an extensive military background. It helped a little but he had to make the drive to make the retrieve.
It happens. A few years back, a loaded cargo 747 - lined up on approach to McConnell AFB - landed on a smaller general aviation airport runway on the same basic heading. Much ado as they had to tractor the big monster around to take off in the opposite direction a few days later.
@@whalesong999 I saw a vid where a C-17 landed at a SMALL GA airport in FLA by mistake. Oops! Was amazing that it could stop on and then depart such a tiny strip.
What a beautiful flight Juan. Sorry I don't understand all that aviation mumble jumble but thanks for the walkthrough. I sure am glad that you were flying the Bonanza and not me !LOL! Yea, we really need the rain and sooner ,not later.Don't look good for the fire season of 2018. We need all the Aerial Firefighters that we can get .I want to give a BIG THANK YOU ,shout out , to all Firefighters for their hard work. In my younger years I worked as a seasonal Firefighter out of Mendocino and IK what hard ,hot, filthy, sweaty, smokey, back breaking, trail blazing, sunset to sunrise work is.Thanks Juan for every video that you post on public awareness. I honor your charisma. Thanks for sharing your adventures, stay safe and God bless to you an family .
Thank You. I loved seeing a bit of Reno from the air. I had to cancel my B-day trip to the Biggest Little City this year due to that little fire called Detwiler here in Mariposa.
That was so much fun! I love learning how you fly and land those planes. Like the guy said: Entertaining, Educational and Enjoyable. I know I'll never fly a plane myself in this lifetime (I like my feet on the ground, or at least the rubber side down on the ground :-D ), but it sure is fun to watch you. Thank you Juan!!
Another excellent vid by Juan and thank you for the time trip. My Dad had a Beech Bonanza for years, 1950? maybe. Franklin engine, N5042C. I enjoyed many flights with him and it was a clean bird too. Thank you again!
Incredible video. Thanks for the flight and taking us along! Juan went from one of the safest places to be(airplane) to THE most dangerous: Riding in a car on a public highway.
In the 70's thru mid 80's and likely before, the Bonanza was a very popular aircraft among members of the medical community. I had an Uncle Willard who flew I think a 1956 Bonanza with no problems be he was a fighter pilot in the European Theatre during WWII which might explain his expertise. Doctors tend to believe they are quick studies no matter the area and they are impatient without a lot of free time, so they rush to buy a quirky aircraft. That may explain the number of fatalities associated with the Bonanza enough to earn it the "Forked-Tail Doctor Killer" I had a friend, an MD from Safford, AZ killed at the Superior, AZ airport while taking off in his Bonanza which did reinforce the reputation for me. My comment was solely an effort to inject the name, Jose pilots his beautifully, I enjoyed the video and I'll look for many more.
What a familiar ride. I always liked coming in on 16 because I could see my house on base and final. After a few weeks away it was always a welcome sight. Dec and Jan you can count on that inversion layer as often as not. Of course you've probably seen it more often than me in the C130
Very high quality video production standard, basically professional grade, makes for extremely enjoyable watching. A Western Region FAA administrator said in Renton Air Tower FAASTEAM Wings meeting last WED that wrong runway mistakes are often made in switching from ILS approaches to Visual Approach. He gave an example of a pilot doing such at SEATAC and landing on Taxiway C (I think) when being cleared to switch from Runway 16R to Runway 16C.
Juan, I started watching your channel because of the dam repairs. But being an aviation enthusiast, I quickly learned you are also a pilot and now enjoying your channel more and more. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family from mine here in New Zealand
Thanks Juan! I've enjoyed "real" information you've provided concerning Oroville, the last several months. I want to encourage you to continue exploiting your flying expertise as well. I've already confirmed you as a preferred source concerning oroville, and now as an instrument rated private pilot, I'd enjoy watching any piloting videos you can make. Again thanks! Dave Moseley - KARR
Love those "V" tail Bonanza aircraft. My brother took mee up in one back when I was in grade school (I'm now 66 yrs young). Cheers from Indianapolis, IN.
What an incredible world you live in blanco -{ Please dont get me wrong i dont suffer with greed nor jealousy } What i wouldn't give to have modern wonder of flying i just watched ! Love your vids blanco - top stuff !
AWESOME.I could have watched that for an hour.Fascinating all that goes into flying just awesome.I wish i lived nearby to you,id love to go flying with you any chance i could.
I'm retired ATC and also PPL in the UK.The reason for the pause when the controller got your details is she was either writing it down,or in putting it into the radar system. Also if the controller doesn't immediately answer it is often that they coordinating with other controllers.I would recommend that pilots should visit their ATC facility. We always welcomed pilots and it led to a much better understanding on all sides.
My Uncle built an airplane he had tested, but still had the "X" on it's tail. Landed at Destin Airport, FL., so I got a chance to fly that. 40 HP lycoming engine, he said overgrown VW power plant. We took it to stall altitude, what a rush when it nosed over no engine running and restarted about 2500' from the Gulf of Mexico. I don't recommend you doing that with the 737 though. He did have a problem with the altimeter though, believes had to do with testing the plane at the Boulder Airport at sea level it read -39 feet.
Yes, finally someone who lands on and maintains the CL. It seems most pilots consider the center line a mere suggestion. That grates on me. No excuse for sloppy flying.

I flew a bonanza briefly as a kid. An uncle had one. I once flew with him from Northeastern Oklahoma to Denton, TX it was a pretty awesome flight. The bonanza is a great airplane.
ATC will be typing and creating your flight plan to be correlated in the PC. As fast as possible 15 to 30 seconds. Dont be impatient. Even with the shorty flight plan option witch will only last 10 minutes of correlation will take 12 seconds if no other is distracting ATC. "Over" not used any more. See she didn't have you until you idented and even then she wasn't sure of altitude. 3040 that's pretty high. pressure just like you said. Interesting not with TWR until final I guess Standard visual Approach? No traffic info until on final and for departing traffic. Very different from my "C" class space. Thank you for posting. Very interesting.
I worked on a system that would create an ILS display in the cockpit from the weather radar on the plane, thus you did not need working HW on the ground. it was successful, unfort differential GPS and other things killed the project. interesting to hear your comments coming in, thanks Juan :)

Thanks! Great points. If you are new or confused...just explain your situation and you will get the best help ever. "Climb, conserve, confess..."
And here I thought Washington DC was the hot air capital!
As probably everywhere, if you volunteer to help with the unpacking, inflation, chase and pack up you will likely get a ride sometime.

nothing like my cousin doing it on his cross country solo into Point Mugu NAB instead of Camarillo!
I worked at Pt Mugu in the late 80's - I imagine an errant plane landing would get a lot of attention.
Indeed !My uncle was the flight instructor. Some one who had a lot of pull from an extensive military background. It helped a little but he had to make the drive to make the retrieve.

Incredible video. Thanks for the flight and taking us along! Juan went from one of the safest places to be(airplane) to THE most dangerous: Riding in a car on a public highway.
That's how you do it. Excellent video on proper technique Mr. Brown. Jenny B. Needed your attention to detail.
Recognized it instantly, good memories of the Bonanza.

I bet a lot of people missed the meeting taking care of us in Southern California, trying to contain the wildfires. Thompson Fire is at 266,000 acres.
Love the flight and the ATC coms.

Very nice flying with you Juan...lol. Great job on the video, Thanks, Greg

Yep...
blancolirio Your video's never fail to disappoint me, especially the ones with an airplane involved in it. Thank You.
So what you're saying is:
Your videos always disappoint me!
You've got Guts, Michael.
He spent YEARS in the military!
You went by yourself? That’s only half fun. Thanks for letting us ride along. 👍
Great video. One of the things i like so much about your videos is that i learn something new every time. Thanks.
Love it! Nothing beats a quiet flight.
Thanks! Love your flying videos.
I worked on a system that would create an ILS display in the cockpit from the weather radar on the plane, thus you did not need working HW on the ground. it was successful, unfort differential GPS and other things killed the project. interesting to hear your comments coming in, thanks Juan :)
Great video. Really enjoyed it.
I'm sure that ATC knows that with your transmission presence that you're not a weekend warrior.
Being able to convey the what you are, where you are and want you want to do without falling all over yourself is blatantly clear you're a military , former military or a high hour pilot.
Most weekend pilots have issues monitoring two radio frequencies, positional awareness and aircraft performance.
Very nice presentation. Thank You for sharing.
Thanks for the pleasant, enjoyable jumpseat Juan! With the same footage, that'd be cool to see you flying in larger aircraft.
Great video, Juan. Love those E-225 Bonanzas!
This is great man! Right up my alley! I've been on an unquenchable aviation kick for the past 2 months or so. Any chance I get to learn, I take it - was just an added bonus that you happen to be a pilot! I was unaware of that when I first subbed to your channel!
So far I think I've watched 200 hours of AV videos in the last 2 months, maybe more. First video, ATC sounded like gibberish ... but now I actually know what everyone is talking about! Nice to have a heads-up before diving into the training. The internet is just plain amazing.
Part of my 10 year plan is to get into the skies myself in any way possible. Nice to dream anyway! I'll get into the air one way or the other, someday, some way. :) Whether it's a jet, or an ultra-lite (my budget is way more in tune with the ultralight line of things :D ).
THANK YOU for the informative video!!
Cool, Nicely done video. Just got in the mail my $500.00 rebate check for my ESG/Stratus 2S ADS-B install, 182P. I don't have to worry about that now. Next putting in the Dynon D-10A EFIS with all the add ons. Most importantly the AOA.
Is that rebate still going on?
No. I signed up in the last week of the program and had it verified the last 2 weeks of my 60 day window. Nice to see traffic and NAV info on the Ipad. I'm a student, still learning in the LA basin.
Thanks for the ride Juan!! It was fantastic!
I love your flying videos. I like to fly, but never learned how. I couldn’t afford it and still can’t. I think you would make a great instructor.
Thanks Richard!
Too bad the camera shutter is distorting the "JPI EDM" display...I'd like to have seen the trends during descent and approach. Nice work Juan, thanks again.
A nice flight, awesome landing.
....13
Excellent work as always Juan. Thank you.
what a great presentation. Thank you
While mr. Brown, I can watch this all day
Thanks for the ride to Reno !
Love your videos sir i was wondering if you could do a video on the C-141 Starlifter and your time in the Air Force flying that awesome aircraft. Thank You and can’t wait for your next video.
Awesome! and great clarity on the video.
Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year. Nice Landing.
This is awesome!
Great Video, Thanks
thank you, always entertaining.
