a couple things: Yamaguchi didn't just start volleyball, hes been playing since he met Tsukki. He's not bad at the start, just average especially considering the older players have more experience. He just doesn't have enough talent at the time to take anyone's place. Also, at this point Tanaka's head would already be shaved. Since Hinata and Kageyama know eachother, its past the point in time that Tanaka wasn't fully fitting in with the team.
