Craft Room Tour aka The Dining Room | Ep. 1 Craft Supply Reorganization Ideas for Junk Journaling

- Today I am giving you the first complete look and a tour of my craft room that was formerly our dining room space. I will show how and where I am currently storing my paper crafting, vintage assemblage and junk journaling supplies. Some of the spots are unique but I am making them work and also in a way that pays homage to my love of vintage and inherited pieces of furniture that I hold dear.
In this Episode 1, I will be sharing my thoughts about carving out a crafty nook in an unconventional spot in our home. The pros and cons and everything in between. I will also be discussing my plans and ideas to reorganize my crafting supplies and to make the space work better for my junk journaling and journal making needs.
I hope you enjoy the tour of my crafty space and let me know if it makes you feel inspired to carve out a designated creative space in your own home. I am also excited about the next episodes to come, as we start to dig in to all the drawers, bins and cabinets and bring some organization back to my space. I hope you come along for the ride and if you have any questions, leave them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer them!

Love your antiques. I was considering my furnishings one day and realized that out of a houseful, my husband and I have purchased maybe 3 things new, maybe 4 things "pre-owned". 1 special antique for my birthday. Some wood that my husband made into my library. Every other thing we either owned pre-marriage or came from our parents. My parents downsized the year after I bought my house so I got a bunch of stuff, including my great-grandparents kitchen table, 4 Mission oak dining room chairs (that my Mom painted gray, she stripped them before giving them to me), assorted incidental chairs and odd tables. They've since passed so now I've got the rest of it. I'm currently sitting in a nice wingback chair that I remember being purchased new from the " good " furniture store when I was 8. It's over 50 and still comfy, it's been recovered several times. Actually many of my pre-us stuff came from my parents as well. I really like that built in cupboard too.
Isn’t it just wonderful to be surrounded by so many special furniture pieces that spark memories, reminders of years past and loved ones we are missing! Your home sounds just so lovely, warm and inviting and I am picturing the pieces as you described.❤️
I also loved that your mom stripped the chairs before she gifted them to you. The cabinet I showed in our entryway with the paint inside, was one of my mom’s finds. It was covered in orange paint when she found it so she stripped it, refinished it and also added blue tiles for me on the backboard as someone had removed the original tiles at some point before she rescued it.
Thank you so much for watching and for leaving such a lovely comment.🤗❤️
Great ideas for storage. Thanks for not moving the camera too fast or jerking around. I enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and the vote of confidence with my filming. 🤗
Julie you have a lovely home and your decor is so pleasant and inviting❤❤❤
Thank you Carrie!❤️It’s definitely our haven and happy place. Well, my husband would probably say the RV is his happy place. 😅🎣🏕️
I loved your video and getting to see all your treasures in and around your home!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour of my crafting space! I started reorganizing and sorting this week and found some more forgotten treasures. 🤗❤️
i'm excited to follow you through this. you continue to inspire me in so many ways. I'm planning to work on my little area at the top of the stairs and hopefully will have some help from my super duper awesome organizer extraordinaire daughter, Bridget soon when she visits. Your home is a beautiful reflection of you and your family. Thank you for sharing with us all!
Same my friend!!❤️You inspire me.
I’m so excited about what you have planned for your creative space and can’t wait to see what you and Bridget will accomplish together. So awesome to have her help!
We can do this, and just think about how marvelous it’s going to feel when we are all organized and can just concentrate on letting the creativity shine. 🌟💃💞
Wonderful to see your craft space and looking forward to this new series! I too craft in my dining room and living room as there is no dedicated space in my home. Storage is difficult plus I hate packing my treasures up where I can’t see them everyday. I forget what I have lol.
I just want to say your voice sounds just like my sister!!!!🥰🥰🥰
A fellow dining/living room crafter and I’m glad you will be along for the journey! 🤗 I feel like we need some official name for where we craft.😅
I too struggled with packing things up all the time and was so much happier when I decided to embrace and claim the space I currently have and make it reflect my creativity. Hopefully we will discover some good organization solutions together, along the way.
I also love that my voice reminds you of your sister…so fun when that happens!! ❤️❤️
My goodness❤
❤️❤️
Printer block box? ❤❤❤
You always know exactly how to read my mind Kathy! 😘Thank you my friend!!❤️❤️❤️
Whatever works 😊
Yes, I’m happily making it work! Also nice being in the heart of the home and not tucked away somewhere. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 💓
Julie I love your craft space! I do have a shed and I am very blessed because of that. However there are times I would like to be inside with my honey. Our main area is a living room and dining room combo so if I crafted in the dining room then my honey and I could be in the same space. So there is give and take with every space we occupy right? I have been a thrifter my entire life. I LOVE thrifting. Thank you for sharing your space with us❤❤❤
I love that you have a crafty shed and have contemplated doing the same but as you said, there are give and takes with a separate space. I love being in the mix of things going on in the house with my honey and kids but on the flip side, it makes it challenging to film content. I envy those that can just hit [record] and go for it, regardless of what is going on around them!🙃
Thank you Carrie!!❤️❤️❤️
Are you participating in the #declutterorganize2025 or just doing your own thing
Hi Sheree. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!❤️I’m organizing on my own and not part of a collaboration but I just looked up that # and it looks really interesting. Will have to keep an eye out for that next year. Thank you again!🤗
