Next time for your mistake in 22:45. If you send all the vills to a point, then click the town bell 2x. The vills want to go to your TCs and after the second town bell they do they´re last work. And walking to a special point is not part of this work they will do after the second town bell. So the farmer goes back to the farms etc.

Viper makes a lot of greedy plays in AoE2 but "I should sell all my food first before I make units" might be the greediest play I've ever seen him make.
Its a shame Dracken thought it was a meme strat, Viper is known for trying different things on the ladder to see how they shape up, Viper doesn't always want to play the meta otherwise how do grow and divercify as a player. Pretty sure Viper was first to realise the potential of Houfniche on the ladder, then we saw him doing it in tounament games too.
@theviper I once won an entire 4v4 black forest single handedly with elephants. after my allies lost their bases and I also lost my base while out fighting, I still had 120 elite war elephants and went clockwise wiping everything. I had managed to build some forward buildings with some refugees but lost most of what I had. It's actually very hard to stop a critical mass of EWE because you can't make counter units fast enough and they melt buildings. 120 EWE is a rare occurrence but basically all 4 players melted in my path
Like you said, it is kind of memeish, but personally, I think that's probably why the devs changed the food cost: to make it less of a meme, and more part of a possible meta (being more economically feasible). After all, it is the unique unit, and one of the classic ones since the beginning, so any way they can help incorporate it back into standard competitive play is amazing. And for fans such as myself, it really makes for some fun spectating.

To elaborate for uneducated, they are actually a meme until you have fully functioning eco with 140+ vills and a few castles running, it is basically GG at that point. You cannot stop a mass of FU eles even with halbs, go try in editor if don't believe me.
15 monks and 50 pikes should do the trick.. good micro should get you 6-7 elephants. And shock the enemy so much he Will retreat Even with 10-15 elephants more.

Also most of the time opponent cannot transition to monks so fast and 50 halbs is no problem for mass eles, the whole point of this strat is snowball effect, Viper did not even mass too many eles this time and it still worked flawlessly against high tier player. I would also add CA just to snipe any monks and use all that bonus damage against halbs as well.

Was like 65-35 win. I won most games vs that guy after losing alot vs him. Needless to say I won most after the pike/berserk/monk combo. Adding skrimishers to kill snipes.
Monk anti Archers and berserk + pikes balanced is probably 60-70% guarantee win vs persians if youre good vs a good persian. I didn't see this video. Ofc viper is better than me so hes probably right. Just speaking from my experience

The way it works, is actually simple. You overboom to like 150 villagers, then you build like 90 farms, drop a bunch of castles and create dem elephantos. Once you hit a certain mass, enemy monks will no longer be able to micro efficiently enough to stop you. Also, bringing own monks allows you to potentially convert your elephants back. Then, once you hit 60 elephantos, you patrol them in and win the game. 11 #nerffranks sounds good btw. Specifically, their castles.
War Elephants are beastly (600 health, Paladin-level pierce armor, wow), but there's a lot to be said about the trashbows in the hands of Viper, who can snipe monks. Especially since Persians have almost no long running eco bonuses or special quirks, trashbows is pretty much their civ bonus.

Skirms don't kill halbs and monks as fast, you guys probably forget that counter units like spear and skirms attack slower and that archer line has same amount of bonus dmg as skirms towards spear lines.

Even though it worked i have to say it was very risky. If dracken would have invested more into his castle age attack instead of booming viper would have been almost naked. It is a meme strat which only works if the enemy makes some huge mistakes like in this game. Dracken knew how dangerous a persian boom can be since it is the fastest in the game yet he decided not to punish viper for his creed and boomed himself even though his civ had no eco bonus so he felt behind there. Than he could have considered that persians have no solide composition without some sort of cav at its core so he should have made halbs much earlier. His last mistake was not to make monks. They are simply the best counter to elephants.
I might play a game of Age of Kings once a week or so... So don't have hot keys or even a proper build order. Why I really enjoy watching top Players like TheViper 🐍 is how the basics are so seamless and the strategy develops as the game rolls on. Brilliant! ✨👍 Thank you, sir. 🙏 M 🦘🏏😎
