Great video. I'm actually reading 2 Chronicles at the moment and it's really incredible to see how many brave warriors and battles Israel fought guided by The Lord.

Thanks, yes it was a fascinating time in the Bible. David founded Jerusalem which is wild to think about because it is still there and a touch point to Biblical history.

Very interesting, engaging and well done video. One thing that has always struck me about David's troops is the use of the term "mighty men", the same term used to describe the Nephilim of Genesis 6:4. Honestly, I don't think that is a coincidence and, perhaps, a few Nephilim did find redemption and joined David's ranks. After all, he decimated the Philistines which were among the last strongholds of the Nephilim. Would it be impossible to think that few giants saw the grass was greener on the other side? Just a speculation.

Yes, the Nephilim is a very interesting topic.

very interesting point, because imagine a person with the ability to kill 800 or 300 people by himself. if it was not the spirit of the lord giving them strength maybe your theory might be a possible explanation. also putting Nephilim into context today, the celebrity Shaq O neal would be small compared to them?

@@n.o.m4385 Hi, well, Goliath and his four brothers (hence why David brought five smooth stones...one for each, in case they all showed up! This is so overwhelming and speaks so powerfully to David's confidence and faith that he felt that maybe the Lord wanted him to fight all five brothers and he was totally down with that. If one truly understands the story, David was no underdog. That is a secular, atheistic perspective. There was no luck involved.) were among the last of the Nephilim and they were much, much smaller than their ancestors had been. Goliath was around 10' tall, Og was 13 to 15 but many of the original Nephilim were said to be, potentially, hundreds of feet tall, with appetites to match their size. And, yes, Shaq would be tiny compared to even the smallest of the giants.

@@directfighter225 Hi. Wrestling and pankration were already established as Western martial arts by the time of King David (circa 1 000 BC) and the warriors depicted in The Iliad had what seemed to be systemized mastery of their weapons. So, I think, certainly after he became king, David would have had knowledge of some sort of equivalent systems. This may not have involved grappling but would, certainly, have involved mastery of weapons in combat.
