My favorite thing about this video is how the waves corrilate with the creaking of the masts. As the wind picks up and the masts go under more stress, the ship goes faster and slam into the waves. Its perfect.
just had this and another track playing for my first ever D&D session, really helped me be immersed thru and thru, the rest of my group who have played alot more than me heavily enjoyed it aswell. tracks like this will probably be the main backing tracks for our whole campaign.
Was listening to this while working for about 20 minutes. Literally started to feel like I was on a ship, swaying back and forth!
When you were doing geometry but suddenly you're charting maps instead.
I can close my eyes and feel the ship rocking beneath me. Great track. :)

I DM'd a one shot in which the players obtained a pirate ship. I played this for ambiance on top of Lullaby of Woe so that my players would be able to hear the mermaids singing. One of my players said that he had chills. That was a good day.

Question for these, is it better to listen with headphones? (As opposed to my laptops speakers or external speaker setup?) And what is it that makes these types of ambience audios more suited for headphones? I often see people writing that it's better to use with headphones. Just curious. Thanks Sword Coast.
It all depends on the quality of your speakers and headphones. I design and check these on a couple of different speakers and headphones. As a rule for most people - your headphones are probably better quality than your speakers (£50 headphones are going to be a lot better than £50 speakers)
Personally, during my games, they’re played through a hi-fi.
While we should savor this tranquility, we should also be ready to deal with sirens, pirates, and sea monsters. I strongly advise applying hemorrhaging oil to our weapons and study marine monster lore.

I get that this is very romantic, but in real life, do wooden ships really creak this much? This tells me the hull or the masts aren't tight; every creak is essentially wood loosening. A ship would fall apart quickly. But I don't know, I'm not an old pirate.
Ships require an amount of flex to absorb the pressures if the sea and the changing winds. If everything was super tight it might tear apart in a storm. Wood also expands when wet, so it also needs space to do that.
This is at least what I understand anyway, I’ve never built a ship myself 😂
