Here's an another video on my channel about how to "effectively" network for a job that you might find helpful: ruclips.net/video/6WJMvL9VetM/видео.html
One thing that I DID NOT mention in this video is , even though it may SOUND like I had a very smooth career transition, and (seemingly) high confidence in interviewing, it also took me a full 9 months to find my first full time job, and for every other career move I made, my interview duration is no less than 3-6 months. Like you, I also experienced self doubt, comparing myself with others then beating myself up for not doing good enough and repeat. Finding a job is never easy, and finding a job while in a career transition is full of hardship, but remember there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. If I can make it as an international student, you can too!

Ahh, this is soo helpful! I’m a psychology PhD student who was just introduced to UX a few months ago, and the more I learn about it, the more excited I get. I’m really hoping to land an internship next summer to get some first hand experience!
I studied Psychology and took a UX research course at my university. I really want to get into this field but I don’t want to go get a masters or PhD :(. I graduated and I’ve been working a boring analyst job, I am hoping to make the switch to UX soon
I love your videos because they are very useful for me. I am preparing to become a UX Researcher and all the information you provide helps me a lot❤️❤️ Greetings from Peru
Hi Aona! New fan here👋 Just wanna say I am beyond grateful for all the insightful videos you make. As someone who is considering switching career path to UXR, your in-depth knowledge and generosity of sharing really helped and motivated me! Thank you!! Was wondering whether you could make a video about how you improve your communication skills specifically with English being your second language. As someone who has studied in the states for a few years, I have a decent level of communication skills but struggle to sound as natural & professional as a native speaker… Can you share how you go about making your English sound natural? Thanks💕
Just launched the video on my journey of learning Eng as a second language: Being a foreigner (Chinese) in US: how I learned to speak English like a native speaker ruclips.net/video/OgAOvH8LhsQ/видео.html
Thanks Aona for giving these tips! Super interested in the topic on self-started research but feel a bit loss when deciding the right topic😿 Look forward to hearing some suggestion from you❤️

Thank you so much for sharing your experience Aona! You came to me at such a perfect timing and I am so great full for these informative and encouraging videos(":
Hi Aona, thanks for the great video! Would you be able to make a video talking about how to create UX research portfolio? I want to pursue a career in UX without any background in design or HCI, and I’m not sure where to start. Thank you!
@@AonaTalks thanks for the reply! Mainly interested to see how it’s different from qual UX and if there are jobs where you do both or more of one type of research.
I strongly disagree with Referrals, for me I find it cheating. Like a backer in order to get u a job. But i know the reality when lt comes to this. What do u think?
I do not disagree with referrals - because you still have to go through the interviews like any other candidates and you do not get preferential treatment during the interview process. So I don’t see it as cheating.

Aww thank you Andrea! Best of luck to you 🤞🏼

Useful. Aona, how do we find Hiring Managers? And going via Hiring Manager is it the same as Employee Referral?
networking
Yes I would like to know as well @aona
Even as someone who IS coming from a research and HCI-background, I'm still having trouble getting interviews. It's SUCH a frustrating process.
IKR...Such a myth. :/

already filmed it. Coming up soon :)
Aona姐姐你好棒啊~~爱了~❤ 可以知道你在国内是哪个大学嘛?如果本科和master想读不一样的,会很有难度吗~ (BTW pretty constructive video and fluent English ❤)
本科浙传学英文播音的🤗
Do you know about quantitative UX research roles?
I know _some_ but not sure if it’s enough to make dedicated content on. What specifically do you want to know about quant UXR roles?

can you pls elaborate more about ux portfolio?
I have at least 2-3 other videos on my channel about portfolio. Do some digging :)

Disney to Google to Sumo Logic to Airbnb to Google again.
