- In 1990 Dolby Laboratories released an informational LaserDisc to show the basics of how their main sound processing technologies worked. It was sold to dealers but also to curious customers.

It's crazy watching this now, most of us enthusiasts have Dolby Atmos in our homes.
True , but in my games room, I have a cheap Hafler matrix set up. Good enough for that .
Still you need pro-logic to play all your stereo mostly musics from mobile-phone laptop or cd to play them in surround sound.
@GauravSingh-px8rh The other thing is I believe most walk-in cinemas are 5.1
And the one drive-in we still have plays in stereo from car system. I think the mono window speakers went years ago.
They actually do good business, probably the nostalgia thing. Back in 70's it was almost 1 drive- In every 10 kilometres.
I have it on my phone 😅
There are so many of those "analog horror" videos out nowadays that watching a normal old school informational video makes me expect something scary to happen.
there are a lot of videos about AM Radio antenna,
watching an old video about cooking in outdoor barbacoa time makes me think something will happen.
*a no sense and very fool comment as yours*
do you think people will admire and consider your life as important with that kind of "participation" ?
get a life. grow reading Og Mandino
I got to borrow this on VHS from a distributor of Dolby equipment back in the early 90s. It's good to see it again.
Thank you soosososo much to the maker for making this much informative video...Student like uh can learn so much thing ..I hope uh will make more videos for dolby atmos ...
SWEET! I worked as an AI Certified Film Projectionist for the better part of 7 years ( during about the time this was produced )
even though this disc is most about consumer Home audio gear. BTW - YES- I own a Laserdisc Player.
I have seen so many movies in old Dolby theater in the old building. My late husband worked there as a sound engineer before he moved to Brisbane which was closed in 2011 or 12, don't remember exactly. My most memorable was Paganini since Klaus Kinski brought it there and Trilogy of Lords of the Ring. We also stayed in Wiltshire when he was helping with setup of computers in Wooten Basset when Dolby moved there from London in 1992
How do you become a projectionist? I'm interested
Very interesting info, thanks for sharing
Dolby HX Pro is (imo) underrated. When I listen to prerecorded content mastered with HX Pro I'm usually very happy or even blown away.
I'm definitely not an audiophile but I've recently restored a consumer market Pioneer tape deck with HX Pro and it's truly amazing what it does with cheap ferro/type-1 tapes. Of course you notice a slight difference with the source material: some minor background noise at full volume and a slight cut of higher frequencies but still, the result is nothing short of astonishing.
Zero dislikes, that's amazing!
Murphy's Law: "I'm about to end this man's whole career"
@TheOldBadGamer 2 dislikes seems that some hate dolby labs
People need to understand positive and negative have the same power. They are both equal and important as the other.
@@devinharris9284 With it disabled I got my career back up and running.
@David Mander Not anymore there's not.
Ironically, this may be a Laserdisc on Dolby technologies but it was the CX noise reduction system developed by CBS which was integrated into virtually _all_ Laserdisc players ever made.
Or at least for the analog audio tracks.
Best part of the video 0:56 1:16 I use the same DOLBY STEREO CP200 in the home and the same Lucasfilm Ltd THX Sound System.
Well, that sound system is overheated.
I'm here because some N64 games supports surround sound
I wanted to know how does it works

My receiver with Dolby Surround Pro Logic IIx Movie +THX is the most convincing matrixed 7.1 surround I've ever heard
If you think that's good then you should try listening your same sources with the new Dolby Surround Upmixer. The Dolby Surround Upmixer is so much better than all of the Pro Logic, Pro Logic II and Pro logic IIx decoders. The new Dolby Surround Upmixer is the replacement of the old Pro Logic decoders. You still can have 7.1 but you add top speakers that are used for the Dolby Atmos Surround and dts X Surround.
@@daltex81 liar dolby dsu is rubbish
I'm amazed by how bad LaserDisc looks, I remember thinking at the time, "there is no way it can get any better than this".
Well, laserdisc was an analog signal so it's subject to all of the issues that can have.
It looks really good on a CRT, like it was designed for. Even VHS still looks good when viewed on one.
Sometimes grainy VHS conversions aren't a new analog horror series.
Sometimes they're just grainy VHS conversions.
Nice!
Thanks
This is so cool

What is the song that plays at 18:52?
España Rhapsody
Lol when this was made, Dolby Digital was just around the corner.
Who’s this narrator? He’s familiar. He must’ve done the info tapes that came with old Chrysler stereo systems.
"Tommy" was the first one actually.

Why The F*ck is there one dislike?!?
Who did it? Please raise your hand, now!
i never use dolby nr.
L-R surround schematic circuit
You might know this by now, but there's so many things you got wrong in this video. I also know exactly where you got some of your info and why it's wrong :/. I'd note it all, but I'm on my phone, and it was a lot of stuff.
70mm had some more powerful stereo sound system.
It sure does. My father saw a few films presented in 70mm 6-track Dolby Stereo.
That’s right 70mm 6 track Dolby A and SR
BTW, do I hear Star Wars narrator voice?
Man I hated Dolby NR sucked out all the shine and brightness out of a song. Never used it. I rather hear some noise than lose the shimmer of cymbals or the air in a vocal performance
Then you have used it incorrectly or equipment was faulty.
There must be no difference in sound regardless any NR is used in the right way.
Unfortunately, in reality it happened rarely that everything was ok.
