@@JordanRunge14no. He had really bad mental health issues and I agree I’m happy for him to see him succeed. If you see his T-shirt or wrist tape it says F%ck em All and he’s saying to his stress, depression and anxiety
Definitely meant biased. Just looking at the bottom where he has all the statistics, it doesn’t make any sense how Brandon Nimmo is ahead of Jameswood or Profar.
@@dcparadise3401ugh. It’s not just based on 2024. Nimmo was significantly better than all of those guys in the 3/4 seasons prior. If he doesn’t return to that form, he will go lower. Or if Profar somehow repeats his year. (Highly unlikely)
as a tigers fan, steven kwan pissed me off during the playoffs. he couldn't stop getting on base, he didn't chase, and that one diving catch he had. he's too good.
Same honestly, I was yelling at my TV because of Steven Kwan being such a fucking thorn and then immediately cooled off against the Yankees which pissed me off even more lol. Like he reminds me of those pesky Royals hitters in the early to mid 2010s who never hit for much power, but always hit and were stealing every ball hit even within 20 feet of him. I don't like him, but I'll respect the talent he has.
Facts. Cowser absolutely handled all that space made by Waltimore. Mostly O'Neill will be platooning right field with Kjerstad to start the season. To not even mention the guy who *should* have been AL RoY!? Bruh. What's a guy gotta do?
The disrespect for Steer is insane. Any good ball knower knows just how versatile and quality of a player he is. May not be a top 10 or 15 guy, but he’s gonna be in the league for a while
Ian Happ really is underrated-you can pretty much lock him in every year for 120 OPS+ and 25ish home runs along with gold glove quality defense. No, he’s not interesting, but that kind of consistent production is very valuable.
@@elasmojones his past three seasons he has an OPS+ of 117, 118, and 120 while winning a gold glove each year. Maybe this is his ceiling, but it’s also his floor, and it’s a very good one. Calling him middle of the pack while being one of the best defensive left fielders and a solidly above average hitter is just straight up inaccurate.
Like Marc said, if he’s your 4th or 5th best hitter/player, you have a pretty good team. Last season, he was 2nd on the Cubs in bWAR and OPS+, and appropriately, the Cubs were mid AF. I’m a Cubs fan, but personally, not an Ian Happ fan. I don’t think defense in LF is all that valuable for someone who is just above average at the plate. He’s also just kind of the perfect representation of what the Cubs have been since winning the WS. He was every bit as much apart of the offensive failures that the Cubs had in postseason/late season games from 2017-20, yet never really got dragged for it by fans/media the same way that Rizzo, KB, or Baez did. It also doesn’t help that the one guy that left that Cubs core that’s still great is Kyle Schwarber; someone who plays the same position as Happ and is much worse defensively, but would probably be way more valuable to this current Cubs team if he had stayed instead of Happ. While Happ does have some pretty notable great defensive plays and his hitting numbers always seem to stay consistently above average, I can’t think of one moment at the plate that he’s had since becoming a regular everyday player that really sticks out as a signature moment like the aforementioned Rizzo, KB, and Baez all had plenty of. I’d gladly take Profar, Reynolds, or any of the LFs Marc listed ahead of him over him and not think twice about it. He’s good. He’s just not good enough. But hey, if he’s regularly leading off with Kyle Tucker hitting behind him, maybe he could be due for a breakout this season. Just please for the love of God, Happer, stop being so fucking boring.
If Yelich plays, frelick will be in right. If Yelich doesn't play, churio is the left fielder and frelick is in right. Thats the way the brewers outfield breaks down Edit: in other words fangraphs is wrong about frelicks placement
Can't really be mad about the Noot rating. It feels like he took a massive step back even though he really... didn't? We just kinda came accustomed to loving the guy but 10% better than average just isn't doin' it, and it would be great to see more from him.
With the exception of only a few years, the Red Sox left field from 1940 until 2008 was incredibly Ted Williams to Yaz to Jimmy Rice to Mike Greenwell (severely underrated) to Manny Ramirez. Wow!
Crazy that the Guardians have at least 3 players in the top 10 in these so far, 2 in the top 2, and people still doubted them so heavily last year, all year.
Wyatt outside the top 10 kind of crazy. If you can justify the small sample size for James Wood getting him in the top 10. then the 2nd half of Langford> Wood
I came into this as a Giants fan, praying you didn't put Conforto in this video haha Ramos did really well. Can't wait for JHL to come back next season in Center!
As a cardinals fan, Lars nootbaar is incredibly impactful to our team. Looking at the number and hearing your discussion, I think that he should be ranked higher than someone like Randy
What is interesting to me about Benintendi is that he had an .830 OPS after the All-Star break. Meanwhile he was terrible at the plate the first half of the season, and in the field for the entire season. I think at one point he was at something like -2.3WAR, before finishing at -.8WAR. Based on his overall performance last year, I would say you ranked him fairly. I'm just wondering what he figured out at the plate, and if it's something he can sustain. He's definitely a useful player if he can hit like he did the 2nd half of last season. Even better if he could return to being at least average in the field. I won't be holding my breath, but I would say that I'm cautiously optimistic. The talent is still in there.
As a royals fan I have given up on Melendez and I wish other royals fans would agree. I’ll be disappointed if he’s in the starting lineup next year I really hope the royals can grab a good outfielder this offseason
It still blows my mind that there were Sox fans who wanted to trade Duran AFTER the season ended. Glad the Sox have made him untouchable. You can’t trade electric players like that
I doubt Fangraphs would project this but if for some off reason Toronto doesn’t bring in a new Left feilder than I’d guess Alan roden is the opening day LF. He isn’t a big name prospect but he’s raked everywhere in the minors
Lmao Spencer Steer and Brandon Nimmo have put up identical stats over the last two seasons but somehow the younger one is one of the worst LF in the league and the 31 year old is top 10 and better than Tyler O’Neill?
Nimmo put up more WAR each of the last two seasons. He also had a significantly better OPS+ in each. The surface level stats are the same but it doesn't matter because GABP is much easier to hit in than Citi Field.
Yeah, I was wondering who he would choose for the Brewers, but Frelick was not one of my choices. Yelich or Chourio, Frelick would be in Right. I'm assuming Chourio for RF, who is going to be in CF?
