Yeah that was always my favourite of the 3. I thought most shared that opinion. It's probably not as solid and perfect a story and movie as the first one talking objectively, but it's all the cool future stuff in it that I just love, like the self tightening shoes, like the hoverboard, and so on. It has the most charm to it of any of the movies. Just all the extra stuff that doesn't necessarily affect the plot all that much, the window dressing if you will.
Now the 3rd one, doesn't everybody agree that's probably the worst one overall? I dunno, I just don't like westerns most of the time. But it does have a good emotional core going for it, more so than the first 2. So weird that that was the one they tried to make into the most ambitious of all the BttF video games. The Mega Drive one. And it is a god damn terrible game. The best BttF game was the one that for some stupid reason was only ever released in. It was based on the second movie and is a kind of platformer + skateboarding game combined into one, and yet it works really well. Why tf didn't they release that one and the West just got terrible nes and mega drive/genesis games instead? At least it's easy to emulate it these days and it being in Japanese doesn't matter because it ain't an RPG or something.

I don't know if I've ever heard anyone talk about the Back to the Future Telltale game since its inception. I remember some buzz about it early on because they found a kid who can do pretty spot on Marty McFly impression and I think Cinamassacre did an interview with him way back when. That's what got me hyped for the game so I bought each of the chapters as they came out on Steam. It was seriously good, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but again, I've never encountered anyone since who seems to know anything about it. Even when people talk about great Telltale games, the Back to the Future game never comes up. Of course, now Telltale is gone so that sequel the game teases as the end is super never happening now, but it's okay. I haven't revisited it since playing it originally, though, this makes me want to go back and replay it.

Always loved them growing up; the first one will for sure be a stand-alone, but I dont think I've ever been able to sit down and watch only the first one haha. Kinda like Indiana Jones (the trilogy) or Lord of the Rings; watching them is more of an event-- although LOTR is more so given the length.

I feel like the Indiana Jones movies are more 3 standalone films than a 3 film story arc. But yeah BttF is an event, for sure, you have to watch all 3, just like watching the Star Wars OT or watching the extended LOTR trilogy (I wonder if anybody watches the regular theatrical cut trilogy of LOTR anymore. I mean the extended versions add so much good stuff to it, it really fleshes out a lot of the story and characters). Or like watching IT. Either the 90s tv mini series with Tim Curry, or the two new IT films. You cannot watch just half of either, you must watch it all, it's required.

The simplicity of the franchise is why I keep going back to it. Like Quinton said, modern films try to capitalize on every aspects of a film and rely on that nostalgia to reel people in. While back to the future did peddle a little bit, it doesnt ruin the live you have for the films. I could go on and on, but in short, the BTTF series are sooo much different in how short yet sweet it is. I agree with Quinton that Star Wars was milked the heck out. Had they left it alon rather than capitalizing, you'd have a much more satisfied audience.

It kind of blew my mind to find out later in life that there are people out there who don't like Back to the Future 3. Nah, man. That's a great film. And while I can understand criticisms of the second film because of how much of the first it retreads, it is also amazing. All three movies offer up quality entertainment.

Since you never rode BTTF: The Ride at Universal, you can't know how physically painful it was. We rode it once and walked off with a major headache. I agree that rides with practical effects & sets are preferable to the increasing number of screen-based rides, I am very happy that advances in technology provide smoother rides.

There is rides like the spider-man and transformer rides at Universal that use 3d glasses for screens in the ride while still having a set that will shake and explode, so there is ways to do it right, not even to mention the Simpsons ride that IS all screen with 3d glasses, but let's be honest, the Simpsons are gonna keep being a thing for a long time, so it's probably NOT going to be outdated

I think, not that anyone cares, nor asked, but I like to consider Back to the Future the Game, to be parts 4, 5, and 6. 4 being the first time they go back to the 30s, 5 being like in part 2 where they go home, only to find it to be altered and they have to go back, and part 6 being Marty stranded and having to go futher back in time before going home. If that makes any sense

I like to think that the BTTF Telltale Game, the animated series and the Universal Studios ride are canon, with the ending of the game helping set up the animated series (Doc says Clara and he have a place in Hill Valley as a part time residence), and due to Doc continuing his research eventually leading to the creation of the Institute of Future Technology.

I was lucky enough to ride BTTF: The Ride before it shut down. You could tell it was one of the oldest attractions with the film being scratchy and the carts you rode in pretty beat up. That said it was everything it needed to be and probably my favorite experience at the park. When it comes to Universal the one in Florida actually had decent rides while the one in California was all "We make movies here!" Yes, show me more boring static props and sets from movies… oh, wait, they actually had some of Hill Valley on the backlot. We drove past that on the tour bus. Some of it was damaged in a fire later. At the time film buffs were upset about plans to get rid of the Phantom of the Opera set, I believe.
BTTF: The Game is similar to Ghostbusters: The Video Game in that it's the closest you're going to get to a true sequel, it's interactive, and if you accept it in the format it's a fun time. The puzzles and occasional bugs got annoying but what Telltale did best was story and that comes through with each episode. Also, hats off to A.J. Locascio for doing the best Marty McFly impression to where it takes a Michael J. Fox cameo for you to really notice any difference.
I understand why the animated series might be a hard sit for some people but as somebody who grew up with it that, the Real Ghostbusters, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures, it gave you the Saturday morning experience you wanted as a kid.
Christopher Lloyd loves the Doc Brown character, both because he's fun to play and fans have such a positive reaction to it. This list from the 30th anniversary has a few appearances you might've missed - www.digitalspy.com/movies/a671090/great-scott-11-times-christopher-lloyd-played-doc-brown-outside-of-the-back-to-the-future-movies/

My idea for a Backtothefuture sequel trilogy is as follows: It is fourty years since the events in the three movies.
DocBrown's house have been abadonned for
fourty years and is in a shabby state.Three youths who live nearby goes there to clean up the place and make it ready for a sale.
While they are cleaning the house they find the scematics for the delorean and how the fluxcapasator makes timetravels possible.
They also find a video which shows one of the youths mother(possible Jennifer Parker)and she looks totally different than she looks today.
the youths also sees DocBrown holding a newspaper where Biff has the Grey's sport allmanac in his pocket from 1955.
They decide to build a new Delorean from DocBrown's scematics.
When they are finnished they decide to bring the Grey's sport allmanac(which is in common sale in 2022) with them.
They goes back to 1955 and knows allready that MartyMcFly detained JenniferParkers father when he took the caseboard apart in the first movie to use it as
a regular board. The youths prevent this from happening by giving MartyMcFly another board to stand on while flying away from Biff.
They also gives their fathers the Grey's sport allmanac.
When they comes home they all live in wealth and luxury
and JenniferParker looks like she looked in the first movie(played by ClaudiaWells or a lookalike)and it gives a happy ending to the first movie xD
In the second movie three neighbours to the first movies aganoists who are envious discover videos that show everything was different just a few days
ago. They start stalking the three youths and finds out about the Delorean timemachine. They also finds out about the Grey's sport allmanac. They decide
to steal both the delorean and bring with them the Grey's sport allmanac. In 1955 they gives the Grey's sport allmanac to their grandparents. They then
goes home to a life in wealth and luxury.
In the third and last movie, our three antagonists suddenly wakes up and see everything has changed around them. They see the three
neighbour youth now living in wealth and luxury and suspect that they has stolen the delorean and gone back to 1955.
They decide to go back themselves and change the events that the three neighbours have caused.
But there they meet a young DocBrown that warns them about making any more changes. He tells them he was contacted by his future
selves and that he told him to warn eventual other timetravellers.

!!! My parents played tapes of the animated series for me so much as a kid and I can honestly say a large part of why I’m working on a chemistry PhD today is because of those Doc Brown clips in each episode (along with all the movies and the game of course)
I was totally bracing myself for you roasting the cartoon but was so excited to see it getting recognized for the glorious, wacky nostalgic mess it is :’) The 12 year old me begging her mom to take her picture as she weeps in front of the Time Train at Universal Studios respects you so much lol

Also, what I liked about the Telltale game -- whether they had the intention or not -- was the ending scene, where they basically tease a sequel that might have gone a slightly different path: exploring how all that time-traveling might case problems on a larger scale. Yes, we have this diagram from the second movie where Doc explains how Biff went back and created a new future, basically telling us that all those timelines exist in parallel -- but, the game ending scene could be seen as a suggestion that maybe it's not that strict.
Either way, with that in mind -- while I loved the idea of the movies and the game to be all set in Hill Valley only and giving us different versions of the same place and characters, there is the point where this just becomes a bit stale. Having a 2nd game (which never happened) move slightly (or not so slightly; no idea what they would have done) into a different direction where time travel doesn't just cause a problem, but actually turns out to be THE problem might have been interesting.
