  • When I am not travelling around China and making those long-format videos about those amazing artistry and people, I am teaching myself different Chinese crafting projects at my little studio in Chengdu City.
I know I am just a novice in these fields, but sometimes simply sharing the process of learning can spread knowledge and fun!
Diancui" (点翠), also known as "kingfisher feather art," is a traditional Chinese decorative art form that involves the use of brilliantly colored kingfisher feathers to create intricate and vibrant designs.
This art form has been practiced in China for centuries and is known for its exquisite craftsmanship and striking visual appeal.
However, the use of kingfisher feathers in diancui has raised conservation concerns, as it has contributed to the decline of kingfisher bird populations. In response, there have been efforts to promote the use of alternative materials in contemporary diancui art. The DIY Kit I was using in this video chooses the bred peacock feathers as alternatives, which is also very beautiful!
