One of things I love about La Scala is their attention to musicianship in both their singers and the orchestra. This is a perfect marriage between both the singer and orchestra here that really isn’t the same at other houses. It makes for a wonderful performance, which this is.
Absolutely stunning. That is one beast of an aria, and you sing it with precision and passion. Gorgeous tone quality. Especially love the high, floating top. Gives me goosebumps. Brava!
This soprano did her best with this very difficult aria. Unless one is a well trained high soprano (large or small ) the entire experience is somewhat strained and/or closed in tone and small. Very few sopranos can manage it without having a low larynx position and strong technique yet alone the range/facility. It can be brutal when the elements are off with this role.
A valiant attempt by a soprano with a voice appropriate to Blonde and a technique which requires her to sing this much slower than the proper tempo. There is little or no suggestion in her performance that this is a strong woman furious at being held captive.
