I LOVE the wallet that I saw in I think the Denim colour? My wallet NEEDS to be replaced :) Thank you for inspiring me to again make journals, my mojo took a hit and a half in 2020, now in January 2021 I am gearing up for a very crafty and productive year.
Gorgeous little books my dear. I've never made one before but I do have a lot of KT. I find myself constantly coming across projects that have a lot of sewing machine simple stitching however I've never had or used one before. I think I'm finally convinced to buy an inexpensive machine and hoping I can teach myself to use it. I am now a new subscriber. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.
Beautiful work. I have some Craft-tex that I ordered from Amazon. Haven’t used it yet. But I love these ideas. Seeing what it actually looked like made we wish I had ordered the denim version. Maybe if I successfully make something with the color I have, I’ll feel confident enough to order more in the denim. Thank you for the beautiful demonstration!!
For the last 5 or more years, I have used Kraft tex for my earrings. I purchase a white bolt of 7 yards, cut it into 8.5 x 11 sheets. Then I paint on both side with acrylic paint. I saturate the product in hot water for thirty minutes so the paint will go on smoothly.
That Kraft tex looks really durable. I like that you can't tear it but it is easy to cut. It also looks great with the fabric backing. Thanks for showing us :)
Thank you so much! I hope you continue to find lots of inspiration! I have 3 classes on journal making - checkout the Journal playlist to find them:) xx
I love this product as well as the journal you have made. I have used the black in making mini journals. I embossed it just as you have but gave it color by lightly rubbing on a coat of inka gold paint. I appreciate seeing other ways of applying color especially since I have similar products already. Thank you.
A new subscriber to your channel here and I'm absolutely loving your style. Your presentation and precise teaching is the best and clearest I've ever seen on RUclips. I will be sure to check out all your other videos. Nicky x
I bought some of this after you last mentioned it but I haven’t actually used it yet. Having watched you make these stunning embossed journals I can’t wait to have a go! I love everything you show us so thank you. Take care and stay safe xx
Gorgeous little journals. I'm glad to hear that they have more interesting colors. I really wasn't interested when they just had black and tan. But now I'll have to go get some. Hope you and yours are all safe. Stay well.
Love, love love these. I also love all your tutorials. You have such a nice voice and it’s obvious you have your tutorial planned before you start. So professional. I’m shielding and not been out for eight weeks so I order the Kraftex to make a cover for my Covid diary. I adore the white Kraftex embossed with blue ink in the folder. I do have a question though. I need to order some waxed cotton thread but some thread seems to be for leather work and I’m guessing it is too thick. Is there are particular thickness of thread I should look for please.
Hi Be, I'm so pleased you enjoy these tutorials! :) My thread secret is....I use whatever I have. As long as you can pull it over a wax candle or block of wax, it's fine. I found a crochet cotton like a thin cord in my wool stash and as long as it's smaller than the holes you want to pull it through, use what you have. I used to spend unnecessary money on specialist threads but no longer:) xx
Many thanks for taking the time to make your videos which are always inspiring - and practical. I love these little journals, they look such a useful size. I would like to ask whether you have any tips on making the signatures, yours look so professional and I would like to achieve a similar result. Kind regards, Pam
Hi Pam! Thank you and keep watching because these journals are so popular, I am working on a video tutorial showing how to make them from scratch. I hope to have it ready end May, early June :) xx
Ohh my goodness, what great video!! The info, creativity & info is just great! Also your voice is so calming & supportive!! Thank u for the vid! I’ve never used Kraft Tex, but I love paper & fabric!! What size/type needle do you use? Appresh your content!!😁👍🌺
They have turned into some beautiful journal covers. Will you be selling these little journals when they are ready? If so, I would like to buy one. Thank you for sharing, have a lovely weekend and stay safe and healthy.
Thanks Debby! I might sell them, if I do they will go into my Etsy shop - link here: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/atticlanestudio. I have more videos using Kraft tex coming up in the next weeks too! :) xx
What an excellent tutorial. Many thanks. I am just in the process of learning about book making so this will come in really handy. I have a trial pack of kraftex but it hasn't been prewashed. Can it be washed at home or does it not really matter?
Hi Wendy! Glad you found this useful, I love Kraft Tex and yes you can wash it at home yourself either by hand or in your machine. Then you can leave it really wrinkly or flatten it a bit with an iron :)
@@AtticLane Oh thanks for that. Isn't it fun learning about new things? And there's always more to learn. I'm so glad I'm retired - I can spend hours and hours just playing. :)
Did you know you can run Kraft tex through the printer so you could have a supply of the word journal in different fonts. If you use an ink jet printer, let it dry for a day or so and spray with a clear coat to prevent smudging or use a laser printer. I still like to paint on some of my favorite decoupage or clear coat for extra protection.
Love this video and techniques. Thank you for creating it. Question. When are you required to protect the finish (with a spray or medium)? Is it only if you apply acrylic paint? Thanks!
Hi Janelle - because the Kraft tex is so strong and can actually be washed in a washing machine, it doesn't need any further protection unless as you say you want to seal in any paint work. I would use a matt spray sealant :) xx
@@AtticLane Hi. yes that is what I was referring to. Protecting any paint applied to the Kraft Tex. I know from working with paint on polymer and other surfaces, you have to seal it. Than you!
Hi, It's a long time since I made this video but from memory I only used kraft tex which I ran through an embossing folder to get the texture. To add the colour I lightly ran an ink pad over the embossing folder first. Glad you liked it!
Hi, it was accidentally splashed, I then noticed that the ink had lifted so rinsed it under a running tap and the whole lot came off. It had dried for at least 3 hours prior to this. I was wondering if you had tried it with Brusho's?
@@kareykins Ahh, I guess it came off because distress inks are reactive to water. I haven't tried it with brushos and I think those pigments would wash away too so if you want a permanent fixed finish, staz on inks or alcohol inks and pens might be the best options - although I haven't tried washing these off. Cut down some small samples and experiment! :) xx
Debra, I love your tutorials and projects, but. . . I have poor vision and the projects are often very similar to the background of your table/desk. Makes it very hard to see (for me). Thanks so much.
Hi Diane, this is a very good point and I am giving some thought to how to create more contrast between background and projects. Once I have completed my house re-organisation I hope to give myself the option of a dark and light background and use them appropriately :) xx
Thanks so much for this video. I ran right upstairs to my art studio and made myself an embossed KraftTex journal.
Oh that's fantastic! Well done and thank you. x

Well done!! Clear instructions and detailed information. Thank you!
I absolutely love kraftex, as always a lovely watch.

Wonderful and welcome to the Attic!
The color story in this collection of journals is very nice! An embossing machine is def on my wish list! 🙏
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. I am thinking of using Kraft-tex to make a reading junk journal so this was very helpful indeed!
You are so welcome!
Just ordered some to try and subscribed. Thank you for a great video.

Hi! Have you tried wax? That's another way to highlight the embossed areas and is particularly nice if you use gold on white :) xx
So very pretty!!
Wonderful ideas. I just purchased some linen pre washed Krafttex, so this video is perfect. Thanks so much.
One of the little boxes would make a perfect trash bin to sit on my desk while crafting. Thank you for your very informative video.
So beautiful and clearly explained ! Thank you !
Just got some Kraft-Tex and will definitely try your embossing technique, love it!!! TFS!!
Please do! :) xx

Hi Penny! Welcome to the Attic :) x
I tried with distress oxide but it just wore off and disappeared totally when wet, what did I do wrong?
