4:45 In case Poof reads comments: Both the Wii remote and the Switch controller only use an inbuilt gyroscope when you are doing motion control. The sensor bar is only for the pointer. So you can still play any Wii game without a sensor bar, which doesn't require you to select anything with the pointer.
The sensor bar doesn't even take any signals, it sends infrared light to the wiimote and the wiimote figures out by itself where it is and where the pointer on screen is supposed to be. You can even use other reflective surfaces as a "sensor bar" like windows or a mirror, or even use a candle.
4:46 Still waiting for the day where you realize, that the sensor bar on the Wii are just 2 lights, so the remotes know where you're pointing your cursor, while the movement is detected by motion sensors inside the controller. You even did the thing where you replaced the sensor bar with 2 candles and still didn't realize this
He also doesn't realize most of the time you aren't even pointing your remote at the sensor bar. Like you raise the Wii remote to point at the roof, there's no sensor bar there, and flick down to throw.
19:14 i think another reason that this game just doesn't feel the same is because it doesn't just strictly use miis it uses these modern and corporate-esque characters that are off putting to me even today
corporate-esque is the best way ive seen this style of character described. i never knew how to word the lack of charm and originality or could figure out WHY it lacked it to begin with and thats it for sure...
That and your movements with a lot of game modes are very limited in motion interaction. With swordplay (resort), the swings were based on where your remote was. In chambara, the swings were based on the general direction the remote moves (which by the way is DOGSHIT). Tl;dr - resort is based on remote position. switch is based on direction, and then adds pre-made animations to make it look more ‘authentic.’
It also surprises me not more people use their mii rather than those generic characters. Like you have the option, and when I’m playing online all you see are the new characters. I don’t get it. There’s just no charm to them.
The sensor bar is only used for when you point the remote on the wii menu (and in similar menus). I'm pretty sure your "strategy" would work just as well in Wii Sports
i thought that was why it made you press A and B at the start. to calibrate which way you were facing in correspondence to the sensor bar. i could be wrong, but thats what i thought it was for to an extent.
@@rqmennnnah OP is right, the censor bar is only for pointing like on menus. Most games you really don't even need it. The Wiimote has a 3 axis accelerometer built in and the Wii motion plus added an additional 3 axis of rotation though a gyroscope.

The Joycons use a gyro sensor and an accelerometer. The gyro sensor detects the orientation of the controller (which way you're holding it like up, down, etc.) and the accelerometer detects the physical movement.
The sensor bar wasn’t for motion detection, it was just for the pointer on the screen! It emitted two points of *infrared light that your Wii remote picked up on. The communication only went one way, so you can actually put two lit candles next to each other where your sensor bar would go and your Wii will work just the same. Fun fact!
poof, the wii sensor bar does nothing for motion controls for the wii. It is strictly for the pointer only. It has two beams of infrared light that talks to the top of the wii remote in the black window looking thing. Thats why you can use two candles instead of the wii sensor bar, because fire produces infrared light. you can't see infrared light with the naked eye, but you can hold your phone camera up to the sensor bar while the wii is on and you can see it. this is what your wii remote sees, and how it tracks the pointer.
i was crying hysterically when i clicked on this video so listening to him scream as i bawled my eyes out really was the highlight of this entire month
The game seems to go off of just timing. Thats probably why it was easier to look away from the screen. Youre going off of just the timing instead of messing it up by looking for when to shoot the ball. At the very most, I think the joycon would determine determine if the remote goes up in a straight line when you shoot.
The only thing the sensor bar did was emit two IR lights for the sensor on the Wii controller to see where it was pointing. It didn’t do anything with the motion controls. You can actually use two candles instead of the sensor bar and it still works

There's no motion sensor like look at the bar or in front of the TV within the switch. Its based on gyro which is basically only the controller's movement.
The motion on the switch all uses relative positioning, meaning it tracks the distance you move rather than the position this can lead to calculation issues or issues where everytime you reset, if you don't have your hand in the right spot it calibrates wrong.
