Bro this song was sick and the video it was really amazing I already heard it but I mainly watch the reactions for you to point out word play I didn't catch
I think he was more so trying to portray the “they might handle them like you did” as in dad was abusive getting arrested, then fast forward adult hop being arrested in front of the child as is the saying (don’t quote me 100%) but “like father like son” I got the impression he was being arrested for abuse in that moment as it made a lot of sense when thinking about the line he said right before

"Nocturnal rainbows" and "ill mind 5" were the first ones I heard by hop. I still enjoy even his corny ones like "sag my pants". My favorite song though to this day is "kill her" from his raw album.
I love when rappers speak on real shit that either happened to them or they´ve seen somehow instead of some corny shit like bitches, watches and cars. Sure there is a place and time for stuff like that but this is what hip hop is really about, speaking on what matters to the artist and being honest, a true artform is what it is. It´s obviously not a song you throw on at a party but it is something you can listen to when you´re i a bad place mentally and it might just help you.
I can't fully relate but man.. When my parents relationship started getting worse they'd fight almost every night when I was in bed and I'd hear them. That shit is scary, went on for about half a year and then I moved away with my mom.
He touches on this stuff in his song Story Of Mine off of his album Gazing At The Moonlight. So it's cool to see him get in to more detail on this topic. Super emotional stuff.
It never got violent, but before my dad had his depression diagnosed and medicated there were some....tough times. I remember walking out just to get away from the arguments, not even grabbing my shoes, walking along the highway and getting stopped by a deputy because someone called me in and thought I was a runaway from the local halfway house.
