While this applies to almost all of Hopsin's music, it's especially worth noting here for this one:
Hopsin does everything you see and hear. Not only writing his own music and making his own beats, and then producing them for the sound he wants, but he writes/creates the ideas/stories for his music videos, and then directs them. The only thing he didnt do was physically hold the camera. So on top of this being such a moving song, even the visuals we're given, its just all him and his mind at work. That's really powerful when talking about a song like this; that his hands are so deep into the art, so deep into every facet of how he wants to express himself. He once said that he could never give up that kind of control.. And while that may have negative undertones to come with it, he talks about how its just because he truly cant imagine putting any part of his vision, his message, in anyone else's hands but his own.
The amount of sheer work and energy he puts into giving us this cannot be measured. I am beyond grateful for him gifting us with it.
Eventually I hope you’ll branch into the “ill mind” series that hopsin released. The best part of is is that you can pick one in any order and you’ll learn something. Especially number 9, which is about his relationship with his kids mother and the relationship he wants with his kid

I didn’t meet my father for the first time until I was seven years old. I lived with my mom until I was seven and my father gained custody and suddenly I was moved into a house with people I’d never seen in my life. I spent the next ten years being physically and mentally abused and a year stuck at home with no phone, no internet, no cable seeing someone once or twice a month. After I graduated literally the next day he took me to my mom’s to spend the weekend completely unannounced so I didn’t have clothes, toothbrush, anything. I thought it was fine and I could deal with it for a few days. Three months later I got a call from him asking if I was coming to get my stuff or if he is going to have to donate it all. Then I was 19 and at 26 I was diagnosed with autism and schizoid personality disorder.
His stuff is all real stuff when its these types of songs. Hopsin in the undergrpund GOAT
3:45 I’ve been living with psychosis for most my life, and this song hits hard. I’m constantly struggling with BPD and whatever else I’m seeing or hearing that isn’t real that drives me crazy. My hallucinations peak my anxiety but I know it isn’t real, which only torments me more. I’m trying to get a long term therapist rn, and when I get them I’ll stick with them. I know my other therapist have been great but as soon as I don’t have those issue immediately I stop going. I’m gonna stick with my next therapist permanently, regardless if I’m not experiencing it immediately. Like Juice said “Even if II can’t see my demons they’re still there”

You should react more to songs about parents and stuff like that, there's a song called "Parents" by Yungblud, that at first sounds silly, because of the rythm and the music video, but if you break down the lyrics...
I grew up like this and loved this song when it came out of course my dad was trying to kill my mom and cops were at my house on the usual. Never knowing what to expect sucked. I developed CPTSD from my trauma and it continued for a long time. I cut both my parents off because both of them were toxic. I finally cut them off last year. I have been in therapy for 2 years now and I would never do this to my kid and I have came a long way but it is sooo hard! I just want to tell anyone no matter the mental suffering you endured YOU ARE STRONG! Therapy gives us the information and guidance we never had. You aren't giving up when seeing a therapist I used to think the same thing but you are not fighting this fight alone I promise! Thanks for this reaction by the way also thanks for helping others like me. My therapist is a blessing in my eyes.

Man this one is heart wrenching. You can hear the pain he went through in the lyrics just like NF. Creative people tend to put their pain into their work same goes for me as a writer. Much of my stories and characters are a reflection of real life experiences. Its a sad reality that this happens more often than it should which is none

I'm just discovering your channel, so if you've already done this, forgive me. But like someone else said, you should really get into the Ill Mind series. And maybe consider getting into Chris Webby, especially his Raw Thoughts series. Most of the Raw Thoughts are any politics and culture in general. One of the Raw Thoughts is taking shots at a mumble rapper POS who picked a beef with him. But the rest are super interesting and show his thought progression over the course of a few years, where he initially had certain beliefs about the way the world is going, then each one progressively shows how he kept an open mind and stated to see things differently. Really interesting. Plus, he's another independent artist doing it by himself for the most part.

Can't tell you how fortunate I am to have been incredibly wise at a young age, being able to identify much of the bad behavior and decide it wasn't for me and also understand my mom was doing the best she could with the light she had to see by despite her own problems and vices.

Experienced the same thing between my mom and her boyfriend, luckily he has been gone for about a month and doesn’t seem to be coming back so I’m happy, as soon as he was gone life when went back to normal, I no longer have to worry about my mother getting beat up anymore.
This describes my own experience as a child perfectly and now my dad’s health is failing and I know I’m supposed to feel something but I don’t.
Cannot tell you how happy I was to see this. As a victim, this trauma affects me to this day, and without help from my therapist I can’t imagine where I would be. Happy to see more awareness around the subject. Innocent victims who have to live later with intrusive thoughts, abandonment issues, and normalized abuse. What we see as kids is what makes us, reality is completely twisted and we’re sent into a scary ass world to just “deal with it” “man up” it’s sad really. Thank you for reacting :)

i don't know if you'll read this or if you know about the situation with marilyn manson but i was a huge fan of his and after everything happened a few of the lyrics in his song became really weird and real for instance in one of his newer songs called 'blood honey' i don't know if maybe you want to spend time listening to this or even if someone reading this might want to talk about it because i've seen a lot of people talk about the fact that his persona isn't a persona but i haven't seen a lot of people talking about how after everything came out his songs became really creepy. I completely understand if you don't want to talk about it since the topics surrounding him are very dark, anyway thanks to who ever is reading this for reading this as i haven't been able to find any kind of platform to talk about this and it's been on my mind.

You definitely should check out Phora he's got some great songs and lyrics that you can breakdown and give your perspective on I'd love to hear it so if you get around to it I'd highly suggest him
Love hopsin for this exact thing in his music and videos. Always real truth embedded in the lyrics and videos. Often artists project this perfect or perfectly awful image. Not hopsin. He's laying out the truth from his own perspective, albeit often harsh and hard to hear.
