I have decades of experience doing thus, but in a narrow context. I spent a career as a firefighter paramedic and had to switch and unplug multiple times a day. From delivering the absolute worst news to a patient”s loved one, to helping deliver a baby, to relieving someone”s chest pain...you name it.
My difficult task is translating that skill into my entrepreneurship and learning the new language.

Agree 100%. I was the manager of the spa and gym onboard a cruise ship and the male singer onboard the ship went overboard and died. What made it worse was 2 things 1) 11 of my team witnessed it with one being up for murder (but was later released) and 2) My girlfriend at the time was the female singer. Therefore, I had to deal with it professionally because I needed to be there for my team and I had to deal with it personally because it was my girlfriends signing partner. To top it off, the following day we had 2000 new guests onboard the ship and I had to run the spa and gym like nothing happened, meanwhile half my team were in a complete mess. We held it together as a team and somehow pulled through. 100% the toughest management moment I've ever had.

I am so developing myself in this area right now.
Most people would have no idea how I‘ll have a horrible call with a President or CEO, then have to (10 seconds later)do a positive training call with a team of people.
I was feeling very lonely in this, but now I see that others go through a similar challenge.

This is one of those skills, that's actually not about gaining more knowledge to be able to do it. It's about letting go of bad habits. The more bad habits we can shed, the more positive consequences we are able to manifest. This is due to letting go of the self sabotage that bad habits create in the present and in the future. Let go of bad habits, emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically, and watch how stopping certain things eg. letting go of criticism of self and others, positively changes the world around you. Watch how your natural skills blossom to authentically, effectively, efficiently, masterfully, deal with the circumstances we find ourselves in, no matter the context.

This video resonated with me deeply, it's quite recent but I have slowly gotten into this exact mindset even before watching this video. I like to think of it as two things, the first one is I panic slowly and quietly and the second is emotional intelligence. What I mean by panicking slowly and quietly is that I won't allow myself to be overwhelmed by anything, I step back and make logical decisions; this of course is a slower process at the moment as it is controlled but I am getting quicker at doing it. The second is emotional intelligence; having the ability to understand, use, and manage my emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

I’m definitely putting this method down in my $1mil idea box of my handbook.. the level of importance with which we can recognize and gauge our language is hands down a skill we can all apply and master! I would be emotionally shocked out of the world around me, and probably trying not to sob, I would tell the parents, "There is nothing I can do. There is nothing I can do." I would not leave them, and I would always be ready to receive them personally, and any request they made of me personally. They would always have a direct line of communication with me. We only live once, and everybody matters to me! My next in command can handle the grand opening; the crowd will not be disappointed. The parents of the child that was killed will never be the same again. This is not my advice, this is my choice.

One of the most important skills as an entrepreneur is being able to assess any situation and adjust your entire demeanor, communication and behavior based on that situation.
It’s almost like having multiple personality disorder, but knowingly doing it on purpose for an end goal of usually money or persuasion.
My girlfriend used to get mad at me at first when we were together and we were out in public and someone would approach me to ask questions.
(Smaller city, lots of people know me)
She would always get furious because she said I “changed my tone and my personality based on who I was talking to in order to get them to like you.... BUT I ALWAYS made the sell.”
She said that to me. That’s what made her realize it.
Has nothing to do with people actually liking me it’s all about getting the sell!
    But it’s so true!!!

I can get through anything. I can overcome anything. Life goes on. People die. Bad things happen. Compartmentalism. You must change the channel. I know who I am talking to, so I know how to address them. You think about the positive. Always look at the end game, end result. Never dwell on the bad.

This isn’t a skill that can easily be developed. It takes certain inherent attributes to be able to fulfill these duties in succession. Any good actor can successfully get through a day or two completing tasks as such, but will eventually mess up, and there are no second takes. The two most important attributes you’d need to fulfill a role like that are competence and heart. The competence to engage in constructive dialogue and the heart to truly care, and come across as genuine.

Fictional example is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: After Voldemort rises and Harry is transported back to school, Dumbledore has to help Harry through his most traumatic experience ever up until that point, communicate with the parents of the student who has just been slain, fail in an attempt to persuade the Minister of Magic (who is in denial) to make the right tactical moves, create a shaky truce between two of his own allies who are mortal enemies to each other, and address the entire school about the harrowing events.
