This is a genuine 100% true David Courtney and family story.
I moved to South London (Plumstead) a few years ago. Didn't realise my neighbour was Dave, I thought his house was a pub. Never heard of him ever'.
I lived in a downstairs flat and my sitting room was opposite his sitting room, poor construction (money saving measure by builders mean't thin walls). I heard some shit, not to mention his Mrs weren't to shy about going ham on him like 3am. As time went by speaking to people in the community and shops, I used to tell em I live on Chestnut rise number ?? and without a heartbeat they used to say 'Oh your Dave's neighbour'.

I'm no expert on anyone but I have read Benn's autobiography and he admitted he hated and was ashamed of his younger self, and I also read Steve nipper Ellis's book about the 3 bullies Tate, Tucker etc. When you merge all that with the movie 'Rise of the footsoldier' which is about a grown man taking steroids, being a casual at football, abusing coke, and knocking about with these guys it kinda presents a bigger picture. That he isn't (or wasn't) a likable guy.
