Clicked on "Musky on a Fly" and to my surprise saw Minaki! I used to go there every summer, from Indiana, with my dad. Caught my first musky on Gun Lake and have such amazing memories of the Minaki area and such high quality fishing. Good stuff!

One of the most heart racing, and letting down feelings having a musky follow you in. Seeing one is just fun enough in itself. I’ve yet to catch one but I sure know the feeling of having a follow. The chase is so exciting! Cheers!

Never fished Minnaki. Even though it's my backyard essentially. My muskie fishing usually happens around Sioux Lookout, Ontario Lac Seul area. Never caught one on a fly before but will happen I the near future. Cheers!

That lunar window feeding time is interesting. It may be superstition on my part but it seems Musky fishing is best during a new moon. I love that this resort is affordable and has decent fishing. God bless Jeanna and her family.

Thanks for the video! Love to see more videos like these. Sorry to hear about Jenna's fam. Why did Mark just give up on musky fishing to chase largemouth?! Bucketmouths are easy and boring. Just a few tips; Don't let that first musky sit behind your fly. Speed up that retrieve when you get a follow, you were way too slow. Shorten up from the fly to the tip of your rod on the follow. Be more aggressive to excite the fish on your circle (figure 8). Stop following moon phases, and just fish. Hold your line hand near the reel so you can strip the line and set when they take on the circle. Casting big flies is not difficult. Water loading is much harder than hauling and a waste of time. Stop giving up on musky fishing when things don't go your way. Grind it out. All of us musky fly fishermen, grind hard, stop giving up. You will have good days and bad days. agreed, its pretty much the same for big pike here in europe, you need to put in the time and grind it out even when its not looking great weatherwise or moonwise or whatever. Also a steady rolly polly can get iffy fish to bite when they don't take a strip retrieve, the amount of times I got hit when reeling in after the last cast and getting a pike hit it is too damn high.

Tip, when one comes after your fly, pull it away from them, speed it up, they will smash it. You see how that fish eyed his fly but he just held it there and gave it like one strip? Don't do that.

Great video. NFF is best fly fishing show ever. And a big part of that for me is the specific tips AND the fact that you show segments where you don’t catch fish.
