Filmed Saturday, edited Sunday and Monday and posted today. :) Yes, it's expensive. I think most people interested in this probably already own single or tandem hobies and they could just use their existing drives too.
@@Gigharborflyshop yes, the "Jones," with expendable incomes. When I first saw the price I thought, "Well, Hobie sure is proud of this, aren't they?" Anyhow, great video. Love you taking the wife and kids with you. Especially the, "not with those kids up there."
I imagine their manufacturing cost is higher since it's not going to be a "volume" item. Plus, with four seats and two drives, things just start to add up quick. I anticipate it being more of a rental product for outfitters than a retail product. I'm really excited about making it available to rent. I think people visiting Gig Harbor will have a blast on it!
Glad to see you guys are still up and running. Our local Hobie dealer here in Jacksonville, FL just went out of business. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Gerald. That's too bad they went out of business. We love being a Hobie dealer. Please let us know if there's anything we can help you with.
We are a reseller. We have one left in stock. I think we get one more this year and its in June.
How does it do with wind
The rudder is so large that it does surprisingly well, as long as two people in the back are both pedaling.
Stability is amazing
Turn one or two of the Mirage Dives around 180 degrees temporarily and you have reverse!
Back in the day before Hobie had drives with reverse I had to do that in my pro angler!
Wait, did you just film and post today? Nice and expensive. Too bad you'd have to spend another $1600 for drives up front.

@@Gigharborflyshop Yes, renting is probably where the money is. Good luck. Side note, any chance you can get Ian Gordon to come to the shop?
