This opening made me think of the Doctor Who episode with the emotion patch vendors. The story was so sad from the start, and as it moved forward I started feeling really scared of how it was going to end. The fact that you can be addicted to an emotion as easily as a drug is completely true and this was one of the more fascinating pieces to me from this channel. Great job to everyone involved.
So true! this short film like zombies in the beginning wondering around the drug store confidence is all is needed for all the above conditions but society is the buzzkill.

The comments are fascinating in how they try to reinterpret the video to suit what ever they wish it to be. One person says this is about opiods and another about a pill-popping society, and still another about the dangers of love coming from any place other than GOD.. but the short film TELLS us what it is about.. the pills are only a metaphor for the common saying and song lyric that "love is a drug" and the warning on the label is that "For some, love may change with time." That is it. THAT is the message, THAT is what this film is about. Some of us fall OUT of love. The things we once enjoyed doing with some one, suddenly become less able to bring us joy - shown to us in the film with the metaphor of the drug losing its potency for her, even though she tried to flood her self with it, she truly WANTED to still feel in love with him.. but she just couldn't.. her feelings had changed. and then when he became frightened and tried to FORCE her to love him, his act transformed her love into a passionate decision to END the relationship and walk out, and she did.
But she didn't fall in love, she purchased the love pills to create their love in the first place... still, the thing I love best is everybody will interpret it in their own way! And this is why I'm addicted to theses short films & DUST :)

Try a gluten-free diet for three weeks. It sucks to dump bread, cakes, pies and cookies, but stopping works wonders for some people, so we do despite the suck.
First World problem. Move to the country, get rid of tv and radio. Use the net sparingly. Cut your own firewood. Clear your own land. Motivation is winter. Grow or raise your own food as much as possible. Motivation? Keeping the corporations at an arms length. Find someone who sees things the same as you do, work with, not against, old outdated ideas like cooperation between the sexes - male and female roles. To love someone...... result. Sunsets are anxiety reducers. Silence is golden. Birds are magnificent. Dogs raise your empathy and intelligence.
we have lost motivation because we are so glued to our phones and tv. Exercise more and you will get the energy you need for the motivation. It's not easy to force yourself to do things you don't want to do
This reminds me of a short SF film shown on Channel 4 over here in the UK some years ago, now. It starred Jason Donnovan, and was set in a dystopian future where no-one could feel emotions and had to use inhalers to express even mild emotions such as annoyance. Everyone had to attend weekly therapy sessions, which meant going to public cinemas and watching films like 'The Killing Fields'. Donnovan played a sales rep promoting two new emotion spays, one of which was labelled 'victim'.
Yep, I remember that one. Also the (awful) Dr Who episode 'Gridlock' where people were selling patches like 'happy' etc. Pretty common theme these days, eh?

Yea , that’s true. I grew up with red hair & freckles, and I was bullied until I got in 10th grade. Even then, tho, I only had like 1 friend that hung out with me. You really don’t know what it’s like. It basically destroyed my life up until I went strawberry blonde and the freckles faded... but it still haunts me...you should make friends with any ginger-haired person you know, and bring some life into their lives.
the truth is love makes life worse because once u love someone and they betray you it will never feel the same again and it will constantly remind you of that loss. And when you have had it happen repeatedly eventually it's just gone and it will never come back because it will just keep reminding you about all the pain you lost. the worst part is when u find the person and u think they r different but then they just lie to you and hurt u in a different way. I'm going to quote Eminem and say love is evol spell it backwards
I've discovered the true cure for heartbreak...don't let your guard down and fall in love. Sounds lonely, but it's one less thing to worry about. Kudos to those who have more courage than I.
In taking the pills it allowed them to go in to a Utopia state, but overtime her levels changed. The glass resonance snapped her out of it. At first I wondered if it was part of the control system, so everyone in a sleep sort of state to what's really going on. It then developed in different tolerance to a particular pill. It clearly had an impact on her, but not at the emotional level of him. He then felt compelled to force it on her, so they could, in his eyes, feel the same for each other again. Beautifully acted, especially you consider that not one word was spoken

I felt that hard. It’s been my experience than men love selflessly and longer than women do. When women decide they don’t love anymore they don’t need a reason, it just happens. It’s painful to know it’s likely to happen, but it’s best to enjoy the time you have while she feels it, because it probably won’t last forever.
I can only imagine what a chemical spill at the factory they produce all these drugs would cause. All the employes brains explode due to so many emotions.
One was in lust the other team in love. Unrequited affections will always bring sorrow. It doesn't matter how many capsules she takes , she's not loving him. The experience reveals the negative side of love for both. One loves the other doesn't. Is there a capsule for that. Ps: I take the anxiety and motivation tablets daily. Ta very much
Extremely well done!!!! Bravo!! The main emotion I felt throughout the film was sadness. Was it really two sets of pills making love to each other or were there people involved? This film seemed like a relevant metaphor for the opioid crisis. The actress playing Claire is very lovely.

Same here. Also, always love finding other fans of the miniseries! I kept thinking of it throughout. Honestly I'd love to at least try some of those emotions that they sell.
Great video! I must say, the opening scene reminded me of visiting Blockbuster back in the day. What kind of movie are you looking for? Action, Romance, Slasher, Inspirational, etc... Much like we do now when we look for videos to watch on Netflix, Prime, Hulu and RUclips. What emotion were you looking for when you watched this video?
It is a sad reality when one's existence is steered and controlled by drugs. The really sad part is that this film is merely exaggerating the current lives of many people. Nice video!!
On the one hand, this movie is a perfect parody of (future) American society and where it is evolving into: 1. No matter the cost it is the result which counts. 2. Loving someone is possessing him or her. 3. Love is an emotion, not a state. 4. Revenge is an appropriate action. In the end, your movie talks about self-recognition (or self-awareness) which is, indeed a valuable step towards love but it is NOT love. The danger of such a movie is to make the confusing bigger, instead of elucidating it or better: INSPIRING PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY REALLY LOVE. a) By becoming authentic. b) By becoming aware their shame of nakedness is an unconscious conditioning made by the media, c) By learning to truly listen to each other. d) By learning to express fully without using the other as a garbage can. Etc. As a moviemaker YOU CAN make a difference. You CAN HELP moving people to the next step of evolution… and maybe your movie will do so… Maybe next time by making it more explicit, American society is enslaved by possessiveness, talking in every article about what it cost (or gains) in US-Dollars instead of reflecting what it BRINGS in authenticity, in enhanced behaviour, in inspiring acts, in more wellbeing for everyone and especially in durability for our planet. Replacing compensatory behaviour in real enthusiastical ones. Motivating by an increase of humanity. Etc.
I find the multiple interpretations of this fascinating. Yes, it could be about opioids. It also represents the changing faces of what our society refers to as "love". There is a LOT more depth to this than all of that, though. It speaks towards a society that has affixed itself on instant gratification. It demonstrates the desire for one person to control another for their benefit, even to the point of violence. Even more poignant is the idea that love is the result of a chemical reaction. For me, that last one is, in my opinion, the most egregious of faults when it comes to how our society views love. So many people view love from the perspective of a feeling or emotion. Love is neither of these. Love is a CHOICE. Love is about being loyal and having integrity, even when you are feeling angry, upset, or spiteful towards another. Love is about caring, even when you don't want to, because, despite any negative emotions you are feeling at the moment, the person you love is worth the effort. A mother or father doesn't have to love their child. They CHOOSE to love their child because there is a bond with them. Yes, part of that bond is emotional, but it transcends emotion as well. I've yet to meet a parent who was not, at some point, angry, upset, disappointed, [fill in the negative emotion blank], with their child at some point. Those same principles are just as applicable to a significant other. This particular video highlights all of this. Oh, and don't misunderstand, there is a lot more depth to it than just the few elements I mentioned in the first paragraph (I didn't want to write a book, after all). To me, it speaks towards both chemical dependency and the shallowness of our society when it comes to how we love one another. Oxytocin, dopamine, and adrenaline are very addictive chemicals, and they are all produced naturally in our bodies. Opioids overstimulate our dopamine production and receptors, which provide a sense of euphoria. Our visceral reaction to someone, especially as it relates to new or potential relationships, provides nearly identical chemical responses as opioids. My personal opinion is this video encompasses the entirety of these concepts. The author of the script did a fantastic job of incorporating many subtle layers into their message. The actors did a phenomenal job of portraying the spirit of the script. The lack of spoken language pushed home the emotion of the tale. I have not been this impressed with a video, be it a Hollywood production or otherwise, in a long, long time. Something I would love to see resurrected is the pre-film short. Back when I was a kid (ya young whippersnappers), we always had cute little cartoons just before a movie. While I think cartoons (or animated videos) would be appropriate for movies targeted at younger audiences, more adult-oriented films could include videos just like this one. The most recent of such videos that I can remember is For The Birds, which played prior to Monsters, Inc. How awesome would it be to see such innovative shorts like this before feature films in the theaters? Not to take away from the previews, but why not add a little extra. One final note. This video also epitomizes the spirit of a "short story". It has character, context, and lets the viewer (reader) decide just exactly how it really ended. While it may seem pretty final, there are a lot of unanswered questions. That is how a true short story SHOULD end! Peace!
Letting go is probably one of the hardest things to do for most of us. But she kinda led him on then abruptly switched up on him. He was dumb for not paying attention to her CLEARLY loosing interest and then trying to literally shove love down her throat when she gave him the cold shoulder. But the lip biting was uncalled for. All this could’ve been avoided if they were actually communicating.
She was being held down and drugs forced down her throat, talking was kind of out of the picture then. Also they seemed to be trying to rekindle her spark with the snorting but it didnt work.
Reminded me of two friends who met whilst stoned - decided this was "it" - got married - still stoned - stayed stoned for a couple of weeks - then the dope ran out - took an un-stoned look at each other - didn't like each other very much - got divorced.
Same concept in real life, crazy "love" full of passion fades away true time if it is not changed in real, deep love...then colors stop to shine, emptines comes. You realize its wrong person, you got carried away blinded by passion At the back of her scene (when she yells about pills to selsmen) stands two shels of "courage" pills. Its message - gether your courage to get out of relationship that has no real love. Firstly be brave to admit it to yourself... and on pills it sad "for some love can change in time". Nice messages 😁 Also i noticed she rediscovered love for life (right after she realized she doesnt love him any more colors started to appear around her without pills)
Youll stay in a relationship even though its toxic and you both have to try so hard to stay in it. After w awhile its not worth it and it hurts you both. Been there. Beautifuly done.

From lip reading I believe it was originally filmed with dialogue, but you're right. It's better without it.
There were at least two stories being told here.
Including dialogue would probably have limited this film to telling only one of them.
Yes it did. Powerful Statement

Good analogy for couples that do hard drugs together. Is it love or drugs keeping them together? Then one stops and realises the truth.

They both play very well ! Bravo !
It is a sad reality when one's existence is steered and controlled by drugs. The really sad part is that this film is merely exaggerating the current lives of many people. Nice video!!
This is my favorite one so far
VERY well done! Loved it!
What a wonderful short! I love it!
Very interesting. Beautifully filmed.
Hahaha, even dosed up, love isn’t eternal...wait, I take it back, hahaha.
Better life through chemistry? Hm. So in order to have feelings, emotions, you have to take a pill. Sad as hell. Good film!
Read about a chemist named Alexander Shulgin or Sasha Shulgin. This film can then be taken in with a fresh perspective.
Self-love. i love it!
You CAN HELP moving people to the next step of evolution… and maybe your movie will do so…
Maybe next time by making it more explicit, American society is enslaved by possessiveness, talking in every article about what it cost (or gains) in US-Dollars instead of reflecting what it BRINGS in authenticity, in enhanced behaviour, in inspiring acts, in more wellbeing for everyone and especially in durability for our planet.
Peace!
Just imagine...the future people reading the DUST video's comment section and thinking abt their ancestors..😅
Now that would make a great short video
Nice....thoughtful & creative.
In the real world, we live in a pill popping society! But, you all already know that, right?
Or outside of America
Yes. True. I have to take 9 prescription pills a day, just to stay alive 😔
datathunderstorm Damn!
Reminded me of two friends who met whilst stoned - decided this was "it" - got married - still stoned - stayed stoned for a couple of weeks - then the dope ran out - took an un-stoned look at each other - didn't like each other very much - got divorced.
Love is an addiction. It gets worse when you try to love someone too much and not enough at the same time!
"Love is a drug, only chemicals, that changes as the relationship progresses." One may truly feel to stay but the other itches to go!!
Same concept in real life, crazy "love" full of passion fades away true time if it is not changed in real, deep love...then colors stop to shine, emptines comes. You realize its wrong person, you got carried away blinded by passion
At the back of her scene (when she yells about pills to selsmen) stands two shels of "courage" pills. Its message - gether your courage to get out of relationship that has no real love. Firstly be brave to admit it to yourself... and on pills it sad "for some love can change in time". Nice messages 😁
Also i noticed she rediscovered love for life (right after she realized she doesnt love him any more colors started to appear around her without pills)
Love is the only 1 without percentage. Makes sense
this is the only Dust film that scares the hell out of me. This could actually happen
the addiction of love.
Youll stay in a relationship even though its toxic and you both have to try so hard to stay in it. After w awhile its not worth it and it hurts you both. Been there. Beautifuly done.
Damn snorting love pills...that escalated rather quickly
