The Gloster Gladiator was a British-built biplane fighter, it was used by the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm during the late 1930s. It was the RAF's last, and ultimate biplane fighter airplane to be manufactured, but it was also the first to feature an enclosed cockpit.
The Gloster Gladiator is an unusual and rarely modeled subject. The Durafly version of this iconic biplane is a replica of the Shuttleworth Collections Gloster Gladiator Mk1 "K9785", believed to be the only airworthy example flying in the world today. "K9785" depicts the markings of No. 73 Squadron that operated Gloster Gladiators at RAF Mildenhall in England from 1937 to 1938.
The model is manufactured in strong EPO foam, to the usual high standards you have come to expect from this range of RC airplanes. As with most other Durafly models, it comes "Plug N Fly". This means it is supplied with an easy-to-assemble airframe, powerful pre-installed 3719-770KV brushless motor, Aerostar 40A ESC, and 4 pre-installed 9g digital servos. A vinyl decal sheet is included, these will need to be applied during the building process, this gives you the choice of using the silver finish as a base for creating your own color scheme. Once the model is assembled, all you require is your choice of 4ch or more receiver and a 2200mAh 4S (14.8V) LiPo battery.
The attention to detail is superb from the blistered cowl, scale exhausts, and scale streamlined landing gear with large diameter scale wheels. The ribbed wings, tail, and stringered fuselage depict a fabric-covered airframe, and blistered machine gun housings make this a model you will be proud to own. Scale flying wires are also supplied, the model can be flown with or without them but they do add that realistic scale touch to the Gladiator.
The Gladiator has very benign handling characteristics with an almost non-existent stall, and at half power, it flies very scale-like. At full power it becomes a very agile and aerobatic sports model, big loops, axial rolls, and even knife-edge can be performed, it is great fun to fly. So it is not only for the scale buffs, it will also appeal to the sports pilots as well.

The Gloster Gladiator in WW2 is best known for the early air defence of Malta before Hurricanes and Spits arrived to take up the slack. Apparently only 3 were ever serviceable to greet the Italian air force in the sky's over Malta, they were named Faith, Hope and Charity.

Capt Blaz gets a special Mention In Dispatches for the camera work today. Highly commended for the sexi shots of this beautiful and iconic warbird. But we can't leave out our dear Pilot Robert, for bravely trying to land a Gloster Gladiator in a scale forest🌳🌳🌳🌳soon to be sorted out. Also the flight was brilliant, and I DO recommend trying this with the 3 bladed prop, as it might do more scale sexi slo passes, although it will suck more amps. The rigging wires solution is PERFECT, but not everyone is handy with tools, so people shouldn't do this stuff unless they can handle basic aeromodeling skills. Also the brief history of the marque was most informative. I myself am a warbird freak, but I learned a couple of things I'd forgotten or didn't know. A classic Petrincic Bros film, one to watch again. Big salute from London. 👍

Looks amazing in the air this little Byplane and it flies great. I think the prop is a little out of balance. The size is perfect to fit in most car's without disassembly as you know putting together a Byplane at the field and taking it apart for bringing it home is the reason most people buy but don't fly their byplanes 👍
When there is a will, there is usually a way. I transport a 1.27 mm and a 1.1 in the back of a Rogue with ease. I can see your point though when have numerous planes. The height of the bipes can come into play, I'm sure. Lots of other "considerations" come into play also, such as how many planes you usually take, how far away is your field, how long on average are you at the field, ect. For anyone thinking about this plane as a first bipe I have to say it sure looks appealing to me. Do you fly a biplane Steve? Their look in the air is something SPECIAL!! Well worth the space IMO.. ;)

It flies similar to my Waco, very nice plane , good history, built my first Gladiator rubber powered model in the 1950s, the hobby has come a long, long way since then. Pity HK is no longer in the UK or I would have bought one !!!

It was all worth it my friend. The plane is amazing.
UK, Norway, Finland, I think Denmark, Sweden, maybe Belgium. The Gladiator was a plane that was obsolete but still filled roles until newer aircraft came on line. Hawker Fury biplanes and the Avia family of biplanes along with the Italian biplanes plus Russian biplanes they stayed far longer and contended with monoplanes and with a skilled pilot gave a good account as combat aircraft.
Another biplane the U.K used during WW2 was the Fairey Swordfish. It was a torpedo bomber, very rugged as it was fabric and could fly in all weather.. It was very slow but this was to its advantage as the modern fighters would overshoot it😂😂

Guys...it's claim to fame is it straffed the Bizmark while the Swordfish torpedoed the Bismarck crippling its rudder which lead to its eventual sinking. Prior to that, it was instrumental in sinking the Italian fleet in the battle of Taranto....again along with the Swotdfish. Against the Bizmark, it flew so slow that the German guns, operated via radar, could not lock on to them.
You really look at this plane in a total different way once you know a little history. I love it.

Watching this wonderful vid made a thought come to mind. Our beloved Petrincic Bros BOTH flying biplanes (hopefully the Gladiator AND that lovely red dynam waco you have) and doing some formation and dog fighting with a friend or relative filming!!?? Don't remember ever seeing both of you in the air at the same time.. might be FUN?? ;) GREAT vid, plane looks sweet for its price point. I have the antique Dynam Waco (Yellow) but I'm still considering this bipe as a back-up.. Thanks gents.. and can't wait to see the new runway..

Halllooo, Petrincic Bros! 👋🏻 I have been meaning to suggest something to you. Drill some drainage holes into the sides of those beautiful bench tops so that they won't rot due to the problem at 9:08. On a ship they are called "limber holes." It will be a quick job that will prolong the life of the wood. 👍🏻
Robert needs to make the machine gun sounds more often when he flies the war planes. That moment was great. His love, and his passion for airplanes was so real at that moment.

100f is hot! We are at 102f for the last 4 days here in N. California. We have had high winds for months and now heat on top so flying this year has been minimal. Pretty bummed about wind and heat. Good luck to you guys hope it gets cooler.
I have one of these on the way from Hobby King right now. I think I may paint it in one of the wartime paint schemes, just to be different from everyone else's Gladiator. I feel your pain -- I went out for lunch at 1:00 , it was 104º F in Houston. and the hottest part of the day is 5:00!

Today I bought a, VQ model Tiger Moth Camo Version 1.4m. Found an engine I had lying around. O.S.70 surpass, which has been in the basement for 17 years. the valves was stuck, the carburetor was stuck. The engine I put in a bowl of wd-40 for a week. had to change some gaskets. Is a long time since I flew actively. In recent years, I have flown small models, which fit in the trunk, but I think its over tree years last time I did fly an rc plane. Hope I remember how to fly. Drones I fly often.. The point I was going to make is that I did not dare to tell my girlfriend about the Tiger moth. haha (nice model, and flying) 😃😃😃
