A few years ago, Ancestry had Circles and they gave me two BETA Circles that, as they stated, "have people that you are related to, but no one has each other in their trees. I used those two Circles to create my "Haystack Tree" (because I was looking for a needle in a ..". This tree grew to over 700 people but between that start and new DNA matches that came in, I was able to figure out why my Bio-Great-Grandfather was and the (at least) 4 names that he used. Could have used a few of these hints during that time.
This is just what I needed! I have an illegitimate G-grandmother whose father I was trying to find. And I have pedigree collapse where my 4th G-grandfather is also my 5th G-grandfather and I am trying to figure out which sons are involved since he had multiple marriages and used the same names for his sons. This will allow me to map out all the relevant persons. The merging is genius! Thank you.
