Very interesting the way you add on for your farming project, you add these mobile silos very quickly, you must farm many thousands of acres to use so much fertilizer , Mike I have seen the wheat fields in Canada many years ago now it was all snow white like it is now on your Family Farm land, I never ever see snow where we live, We live in Tropical & Sub tropical area of central Qld Australia, quite frankly I love the warmth of our country, I admire your love for farming , its just so different than here,

Like that over center deal Meridian added to the fertilizer bins to open the lids. However, with just the braided rope, I always take the rope to the front side of the bin and tie it on the tubing there. It helps hold the lid down during the crazy winds because even though the springs seem strong they are not strong enough. Found out the hard way during a terrible blizzard one winter and come springtime the snow had melted into the fertilizer and had major issues unloading. Usually like you said it's just a couple pokes with a rod and away you go; but not that time. I Always take the rope around to the front of the bin now and tie it tight and have had absolutely no more issues. Wouldn't want to see you have that happen with all your fertilizer bins OMG! Hope this helps!
