  • If you want to show off or test the HDR capabilities of your display, this is a compilation of some of the best HDR test videos based on low APL % scenes we could find. These are darker overall scenes, with bright highlights and will allow you to test and showcase:
    1) the black depth and contrast of the panel
    2) test the levels of blooming and halos if present around bright areas
    3) observe the brightest peak brightness highlights
    Please see guidance and instructions below
    This video has been compiled by us using a selection of short clips from a collection of publicly available demo videos from Sony, Samsung and LG so you can test the HDR on your monitor. Videos have been rendered in 4K, HDR10, PQ EOTF, 10-bit colour depth, DCI-P3 gamut

      @@tftcentral it is working now, hdr needed some time on youtube's end processing.
      i wish that RUclips would serve us highest quality first so these issues do not happen.
      or i dragged the video from an sdr monitor and needed to refresh to get hdr enabled.

      @tftcentral  2 месяца назад +1

      @sudd3660 yeah sometimes refreshing does the trick. There’s a useful chrome extension to force highest res selection on RUclips auto play I believe too

    Just so everyone is aware, HDR DOES NOT work on Firefox. You have to use Chrome or Edge.

      It works on Mac

    • @Un1234l
      @Un1234l Месяц назад

      Are you sure? Because I'm on Firefox and turning HDR on makes the colours and contrast noticeably more diverse and smooth... more gradients.

      @PD-ws4td Месяц назад

      @@Un1234l Firefox does not support HDR on Windows for some reason, but if you are one Mac it should work just fine. Just look for the "HDR" symbol on the resolution button, that's how you know it is on.

      Dang, thanks for the info. I went and tested it out again to compare (on Windows) using LG's Black HDR video.
      Microsoft Edge's video played smoother and had much better contrast ratio. Shadows and highlights POPPED. I finally also see the HDR symbol.
      Firefox's video still had the wider colour gamut, but it didn't have the larger range in blacks and whites. That difference made the Microsoft Edge playback pop way more though. Along with the smoother playback.
      Good to know, thanks.

    I can't see any kind of HDR with my mobile phone. Is this Android/Samsung/S23+ -related bug?
    - Nominally 200M Mobile data, measured few minutes ago 151M
    - Android 14 + One UI 6.1
    - I tried Chrome and Samsung Internet (since Firefox shouldn't work)
    GSMArena: *Samsung Galaxy S23+* (2023)
    - Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1200 nits (HBM), 1750 nits (peak)
    - 6.6 inches, 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio

      Mine is Galaxy S23+. The minimum for *HDR10* is Galaxy S9.
      *HDR10+* is supported since Galaxy S10. Even the latest S24 Ultra doesn't support *Dolby Vision.*
      These Samsung Galaxys _should support_ at least HDR10..._
      Fold
      Z Fold2
      Z Flip
      S9 (incl. Lite/5G/e/+/Ultra)
      Sxx FE: S21 FE, S23 FE
      Note 8
      A73 5G
      A54
      M54
      Tab S3 9.7
      And these Apple iPhones:
      720p HDR: 11, SE (2nd generation), 8, XR
      1080p HDR: 11 Pro, 12, 8 Plus, X, XS
