Avian flu declared in England this week. A large Turkey rearing site all slaughtered...ever vigilant with my ladies both layers and meat birds. Keep your girls safe lovely little souls they are. 💓💕
My girls are in the molt~looks like your pretty hen is too! Thanks for sharing her with us. I love my chickens! Glad to see your cheek seems to be healing okay.
Yes, she is definitely molting. She is an Easter Egger and would not win any Beauty Queen contests without the molt. However, she is my baby and a great egg layer.
@@PrepperPotpourri too funny!! I have 8 Easter eggers, 1 Buff Orpington and 1 Jersey Giant. The two latter girls are quite old and left over from other flocks. Not sure they will ever lay again, but that's ok. My EE's are good layers too, except right now.....not so much!!!!!
That is definitely something to be concerned about. I do remember the last time. Thankfully chickens can be raised quicker for meat than other animals. But they'll still raise the prices to recoup for the lost flocks.
What a crazy year this has been, and it does not seem 2021 will bring relief. I enjoyed your chicken's conversation. I live two streets from US Steel. You should hear the crazy sci fy sounds they play to discourage birds. It sounds like a space ship is landing with aliens bleeping their arrival.
Oh yeah, I remember back in 2014-15 there was an outbreak of H5N2 flu killing chickens all over the place in the US, even (or perhaps especially) in backyard flocks
Your little buddy there is very talkative. I live in close proximity with wildfowl, the danger is always there and definitely a real one. The recent H5N8 outbreaks has spread really quick and has affected a lot of farmers/food supply. Watching *again* for the first H5N8 Human 2 Human transmission! We all know now what to look for in a pandemic that's for sure. Never take one's eye off the ball.
@@PrepperPotpourri Yes and the culls are ruthless, this limits stock and increases strain on the supply & demand chain. Hopefully it'll be short lived.
Avian flu is certainly an issue. Let’s pray it does not hit the backyard birds as it did a few years ago. Your dog bite looks to be healing nicely....due to the quick through cleaning you were able to do in your car.
Very well said darling! My hubby & I we’re having a similar discussion as well 👍 a few months back with our 2 adult sons Thank you for doing this well done video on this subject You are the best!!! 💋~Tina
This lady was ahead of her time. Much knowledge
Just saw the news of the first chicken to human transfer in Russia...
@@PrepperPotpourri this video is about to go viral! Enjoy the huge new following you’re about to get when everyone searches this stuff :)
@@PrepperPotpourri in your opinion how screwed are we?

Thanks for the update on the info!
My daughter's said their hens used to talk like she does! Soo sweet!
That hen is like a pet. I love it. I know nothing about chickens.
It's always something...
