Illustrates the impact upon a boy of his joining the Scouts, the involvement of his father in the movement, the scouts work in the community and the international status of the Scouting movement. Includes scenes of a Scout Rally, an investiture, a Group Committee and the "Jamboree of the New Endeavour" at Leppinton NSW.
Imagine showing this to a 2021 scout leader or someone from health and safety, they'd have a stroke. Scouting today just not the same.

Late 70's I joined the Grubs and then on to the Louts in the 80's before doing a year as a Venturer
Always remember this uniform, now the gear they wear you don't even know if they're Scouts, they only wear a scarf and baseball cap and they'll probably do away with those as well
BTW, as a self-conscious kid, I absolutely hated Bob-a-Job week, just my luck they got rid of it once I was out

What a real shame the scouting movement in Australia is today, as the very mere shadow of what it was like back when this film was made. In my oppion it died the day they let girls into the world of boy scouts. It has never been the same since. Even the uniform is a joke now days, a mixture of casual clothes and polo shirts. I would think old Baden Powell would be rolling over in his grave with the side show circus the scouting movement is today. Shame real bloody shame.
Not being sexiest but they have girl guides and where not aloud to go in it so why are they aloud in ours !!!
Read Scouting for Boys. B.P. always intended the organisation to be a Movement, meaning progressing with time. Therefore Girls are a justified part, but what is inexcusable is the way the whole association is administered, with strict adherence to Youth welfare, but gross neglect of Adult Rights. Following this trend, Scouts will self implode in a few years time due to lack of suitable adult leaders. What adult will commit their valuable time and effort, when being bullied around like a conscript instead of being recognised as a volunteer. B.P., rolling in your grave will not get anyone anywhere. Rise, come and kick arse into this "selfie mob".

+MilkProductions O.k. I am a little bit on the "wrong footing of expression". Most local groups are run well, harmonious and hard working, which can be a great credit to the Group and Section Leaders for their patience, empathy and understanding.
But getting the next level up, a particular branch either has no plans to deal with conflicts or when apparent, no intention to sort out conflicts, hoping they will sort themselves out without anyone getting "dirt" on their personal files, let alone "schmuck" uniforms.
Yep, after more than 3 years trying to make myself understood, the biggest experience has been ignorance of the problem and bullying to the exit to the point that so far nobody has been interested to sincerely come to the negotiation table with an apology as a final result.
If the responsible commissioners are thinking that their behaviour in my case is justified, I am only left with wishing them well on their journey into a doomed future.
Sad.
Old Navy I don't really care if girls go to scouts. It's fine if they do. They do a lot more than we boys do, just saying.
