Me when I'm making a video about environmentalism and how our actions as humans have an effect on the crab population:
I always wanted a Stringer of some kind with Crab Tank. I'd take Tri-Stringer or Wellstring, at this point, but it always felt like something that just. Made sense to me.
Flux with Marker Crab would go hard.
Sad that we aren't getting 3rd kits. It would be a good chance to get more crab weapons.
In splatoon 4, I want them to cut back on specials.
The beach is closed, Chara. They're not leaving it until next summer

I honestly think crab meta scared the devs into giving crab only two weapons (after base game) and both off them 210p with better kits already just to make sure crab meta doesn’t come back 🦀
The only reason vhedit is better is because cooler is better now. If both hedits were in crab meta then we’d be saying that nhedit has the better kit
Similar to how Sting Ray was so busted in Splatoon 2 that they didn't give it to any weapon beyond Squeezer, which came out in December of 2017, the exact same year Splatoon 2 came out in.
@@SALTYTOAD00 Don't think these are comparable. Ray was taken off kits it was supposed to be on while Crab is on a decent amount, I think its just a coincidence. Regardless it wouldn't make much sense to put it on something like edit out of no where. Ray was prolly removed for game breaking attributes, crab was just a "good special"

same reason there's so few inkjets... and ink vacs... and- okay look basically excessive number of specials, minimal amount of kits.
Early S3 meta definitely didn't help, because the devs were like 'oh geee golly gosh we can't put this on good stuff now', so the moment Cooler meta started happening - they basically wanted that and ONLY that. Why else would they give Stamper Toxic Mist? To 'nerf' the kit. Why put it on Hedit? Because it's already got a Cooler kit that's REALLY good. It's the same reason I think Zooka was left untouched (And still arguably is)
As soon as they nerfed Crab to the point where every other special basically deletes it - that's it. It was over.
The reasoning for vac is that vac is just not a good special
Yeah, the more we see new kits the more I don't really like the idea of the devs balancing certain kits based on how good the special is. Cause then we see stuff like crab which were meta at one point so then the devs refuse to put it on anything.
Vac was an awful concept idk
@@guillermocervisalmeron2209 Vac has potential as a concept, but it's so inflexible in implementation. Imagine if you couldn't throw the hammer. You activate it and that's it, you're just stuck with it for 10 seconds. Or if Zooka didn't go away after 3 shots and you had to wait for the special bar to drop to 0 regardless. That's Vac, except worse because Vac requires both teammates AND opponents around to be useful.
If it could be shot early, it'd be lowkey one of the best specials rn, and a pleasantly technical one at that.

For a game with 19 speacials which is like twice the amount of the two previous games, I'd argue that not even 3 kits per main weapon is enough, I think 4 kits should be the bare minimum.
I still find it crazy on release all crab weapons were shooters or dualies. And even now it's 5/7 weapons
Crab really fell off once Trizooka started becoming meta.
Yeah, the mobile mode Endlag nerf made Crab a lot harder to use.
On top of that, you can just randomly get demolished by a Tri-Zooka from out of nowhere the second you activate your Crab, with no counterplay whatsoever.
Making Zooka a hard counter to Crab was a horrible, horrible mistake.
As a v dualies main. I will stay strong in this meta no matter what it takes. Trizooka can ba a pain in the ass, but it wont stop me.
@@closetedfurry6018 I kinda disagree to be honest. I mean, yeah Crab gets easily broken by most special weapons because usually they have high object damage (and crab is considered an object).
But Splatoon 3's maps allow crab to put itself in safe spots, that are usually hard to reach. It puts an insane amount of pressure for 8 seconds (and it's a lot). Most of the specials you mentionned need to find a way to approach crab, and depending on where it's activated, it's nearly impossible.
I agree that some specials are really good into crab. Zip is prolly the most annoying one since crab can't track it, and usually the zipcaster is a Stamper player that completely shreds the crab. Inkjet and Zooka i find it inconsistent, it really depends. If the crab has been shooting for more than 2 seconds, its fire rate skyrockets and Inkjet **can** be demolished, even if it's hard to track. As a Zooka player myself, sometimes i shoot at the crab once and kill him, but sometimes even 2 rockets can't seem to break it and i get shredded cuz i can't get out of the crab's line of sight. I honestly think it's not as one-sided as you guys make it out to be (but maybe that's a skill issue on my end, idk).
I'll end my essay by saying that, in any case, if someone uses its special to counter your crab, well that's not so bad considering they wasted an entire special just to half the duration of yours. And if you find the situation threatening, you can always use ball form to stall and potentially kill the enemy when you get out of crab (not consistent though)
@@closetedfurry6018 The thing is that specials only began to threaten Crab after the devs had to buff them to add counterplay. Since you could reasonably tank multiple specials with a crab and still come out on top, it was far too much control for a single Special to give. Making the counterplay typically cost a Special in return is a fair trade off as both parties need to be aware of each others resources. A Special for Special trade isn't bad in terms of balance, especially when Crab is capable of holding a point for 6+ seconds at ranges that aren't really contestable outside of other longer ranged Specials, and thus forces those specials to be burned to stop it, rather than being used in other, potentially more effective manners.
Crab was way too strong, and it needed other specials to be able to counter it. Now, it's still very strong, but requires smart positioning and awareness to shine, rather than just being completely uncontestable for the 8 seconds its active.

Tri-Stringer with Crab would go crazy
IMO, sub weapons should have diffet ink costs depending on the weapon. (Something like explosher, for example, should have cheaper subs)
All I want is Torpedo on the Explosher Neo. It would've synergized so well with Triple Splashdown.
@@_Just_Another_Guy it'd synergize a little too well. To the point where Explosher turns from a hard-coded backliner to the third coming of Grim. Now with extra range and paint!

It's also kind of sad That Crab gets deleted by quite a few weapons (any Splatana, Blasters' AOE, Sploosh, Tri-Stringer, Wellstring, and funny enough Big Swig rollers)
I always wanted a charger to have crab, it sucks that it probably won't happen.

The crabs don't usually go onto the beach because thats where we are. You might be able to find some small ones if you dig in the sand, though.

On the note about burst bombs, why has Nintendo clung on to the idea of keeping sub weapon percent lines the same across all weapons? They've learned to make points for special different per weapon, so why not subs? It feels like the subs are currently balanced around the much more ink efficient weapons, like shooters, and it tends to break down with the more ink hungry weapons. For example, the ink efficiency of wall on 52. Gal feels very fair, but on something like cExplo, the wall feels borderline unusable because of the ink cost. (I don't play either of those weapons so feel free to bash me if that's a bad example). Changing it on a per weapon basis would really open up a lot of things when it comes to game balancing, and I really don't think there's a great argument against doing it.
I think doing that would also pair well with a customizable kit system, certain op or even broken combos would have it nearly impossible to use without so much down time.
You mean Crab wasn't spotted after all?
There are many sub and special weapons that are very few and only have about five weapons attached to the sub or special plus maybe an order
My greatest wish for Chara is that crab is brought back for Splatoon 4 and it is on many, many weapons, including several meta weapons. Additionally, the special is not overtuned so people don't complain about it (much)
Too easy to counter/ignore at this point because of Zooka, sword shredding, pencil killing the user, rb aoe kills, crb kraken kills, bomb kills etc

I think to me crab is an awkward case where it's not entirely too uncommon but it's on a lot of overlapping weapons (the launch 4 having like 3 different ways they overlap with each other). Granted said weapons don't 100% play the same one bit, but there's limits to how distinct they CAN be when 3/6 crab weapons are shooters.

dynamo pairs, phenomenally with crab edit, and i can genuinely see it getting picked on certain maps where dynamo is very strong. my team has had a lot of value on specifically mako zones, and other maps where pencil isn't as strong, or maps where the dynamo strengths has reasons to be run over pencil

I’m not comp player but the problem I have with crab tank is the weapon kits it’s on and the lack of weapon kits. Out of the 6 crab tank weapons, three of them feel too similar to each other and none of them are aoe weapons. There also isn’t a backline crab kit. (Edit doesn’t feel the same) I hope we get a crab on splat charger, rapid and explo (even though I don’t think there will be 3rd kits) charger is a backline, rapid has aoe and explo is both.

See the funny thing is that that doesn’t have anything to do with stamper being a hard weapon to learn and use.
Turf is different than the ranked modes so everyone mostly went with weapons that could spread as much ink as possible in such little time. That's why buckets are everywhere in Turf Wars.
@@unluckify1 ah yes the grueling process of learning to aim a huge hitbox good, something not found on literally any other weapon. A truly punishing range of only jet squelcher reach, an abysmally near instant charge time with an instant follow up, and the extremely hindering ability to ledge camp better than any blaster or roller
@@softy5447facts, but he’s talking about top level, as it’s much harder to do anything you said (maybe minus the huge hitbox if your talking about horizontal flick but it’s not huge..) due to verticals being extremely slow and not the easiest thing to hit. However, you should play whatever you like to play no matter what. Also chara is just a micro celebrity he won’t make a difference, not all 130k of his subs still might watch let alone play.
@@softy5447 blaster have better ledge camping do to their actual huge aoe compared to stampers.stampers aoe is one of the smallest in the game.Its projectile takes too long to move to be effective at long ranges.Which makes its charge slash unreliable unless you have godly predictions and aiming skills.And also you act like it lacks its current weakness that hinder the weapon without its perfect 1st that it has.
