It's been in news that some places in Tibet are going to be renamed by India. It's a very welcome move. However, India should go one step further by renaming Beijing as New Delhi Jr Shanghai as Mumbai Jr. Chongqing as Chennai Jr etc., etc. atleast 15-20 cities renamed with Indian cities and added a Jr (junior). As some one from Himachal we like Tibetans they are like our people now , my English teacher was Tibetan. They follow dharma and they have developed riwalsar and dharmshala as the knowledge centers of budhism in India. But they don't demand a seprate culture and land then us hope they always keep following dharma 🙏🙏

Ours isn't "ambivalence", but due to the commitments entered before & just after the time of India's independence. We need to come out of them and give a new meaning. However, unwittingly we've compromised in the matter of Tibet. Beyond anything else, Tibet & Tibetans need "freedom" (that the Indians perceived as theirs from time immemorial). Tibet has historically always been a part of the Indosphere. Traditionally, the real China lies to the east of the Great Wall. Everything to the west of the wall is occupied land and China must vacate.

The program ended after President Nixon visited China to establish closer relations in 1972. *The Dalai Lama criticized the cessation of the program, declaring that this proved that there were ulterior motives than helping the Tibetan people.*

As stated by Palden Wangyal, a veteran guerrilla fighter, the rebels were directly paid by the Americans to attack Chinese government facilities and installations in Tibet:

The Dalai Lama criticized this decision, saying it proved wholeheartedly that the US never did it to help the people of Tibet.

I am proud the US took this step. Over 1.2 million Tibetans (one out of every six) have died as a result of the Chinese occupation. My Chinese and Tibetian friends/coworkers are part of an organization talking with US Congress Senators and businesses to build a Tibetian Genocide Museum in Washington, DC. However, India should go one step further by renaming
Beijing as New Delhi Jr
Shanghai as Mumbai Jr.

India-Tibet relations go back to 6th century where we have lived peacefully. Our historical cultural ties will flourish once again when Tibet regains its independent.

Tibet has historically always been a part of the Indosphere. Traditionally, the real China lies to the east of the Great Wall. Everything to the west of the wall is occupied land and China must vacate.
