All those tangles. Thanks for reminding me about what I do not miss about cattle boat trips. Everything else is fun but some of the tangles can get huge with multiple fish spinning lines together. Good Times 🤙🏼🍻

Go do an overnight out of morro bay. You’re going to have much, much better rock fishing

I’ve fished 250-300’ out of Oxnard and Ventura boats. It sucks. I can’t even imagine 500-600’. Of course when I was a kid that’s how they fished. With 6/0’s, 5 foot roller tip rods, and60-80lb Dacron, 2lb weights with a rail plate and big winding handle. And 8-10 hook gangions. Has to be the worst type of fishing in the world.

I remember those days. Don't see many comments from people our age that used to fish like that.

How much does a trip cost ?

Half day trips on the dolphin are currently $70 for adults. $60 for Seniors, Military, and kids. Not including rental gear or fishing licenses if you need one. Rental rod I believe if $15 and a day fishing pass should be about $17.

What rod are you using? I’m thinking about picking up a Phenix Black Diamond in 7’6” for rock fishing

I fish a Graftech GO78M 7'8. It's my first boat rod I got from San Diego Tackle Traders, but I think those Phenix are worth every penny.

Feels very crowded to be dropping 600 feet.
