    Built a lot of these kits, when I was a kid!

      I built a few of these when I was a kid as well! Just haven't seen many around lately and was kind of giddy when R2 re-released it.

      Thank you! I am glad that I had a change of mind on that color. I think that it turned out a lot better than the pink would have.

    I agree, that tire and wheel combo really sets it off, great looking build!

    Your second choice on the color was better in my opinion! You made the kit look great!

      Thanks! I was on the fence about that first choice when I made it. Two minutes after that segment was shot I changed my mind on the color. I am glad that it turned out the way that it did. Thanks for watching!

    Looks like a decent kit, you overcame the challenges well. Great color choice, much better than the orange on the box :D

      Thank you! It isn't a perfect kit but it does pretty well. I sometimes will go with the box art colors but usually I tend to go my own way with the colors. This one is a close match to an actual factory color. I don't recall the name but I had come across a lot of them in my Google image search for the car. I figured that a lot of people went with the orange like the box art and I decided to be different. I just might pick up another and do it in that pink after all...

      Thanks! I have tried this color on a couple of other builds but didn't like how it looked on them for whatever reason. I really liked how this looked so I just went with it.

    Very nice build. The stripe package was an option on the 71 Demon 340s so you could buy one with none of the stripes. Also, the hood scoops and spoiler were options.

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  2 месяца назад

      Thank You! I remember seeing these on the streets when I was a kid. I liked the stripes that came on them back then but I wanted to do this one without them. I was on the fence about them while I was building this kit and I think that it came out pretty cool looking even without the stripes. All of the car manufacturers back then offered up "dress up" options for the cars they sold and most of them really looked great with the striping packages. Those options are a thing of the past. Nowadays, you don't see anything like what was being produced back then. Those were the good ole days...

    I have seen other video here they kit bash two types of kits one using the chassis and the body from the other kit.

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  3 месяца назад

      I have seen those as well. I don't remember what the other kit was that they used but it did have a totally different front end suspension setup. This kit was "dumbed" down to seemingly make it easier to build I guess. As I stated in the video, I generally build box stock. Sometimes I will throw in a different set of wheels or tires and even the occasional engine here and there. I generally draw the line at trying to take two kits and making one due to the cost and the lack of experience on my part. I have tried to do that in the past and experienced utter failure and the demise of two innocent kits. The only real success I have had kit bashing is when I did a resin body build. Now, that one did turn out really nice!

    I have to agree with some modeler's opinions on the lackluster details on some of these kit designs! This is a basic, beginner kit, more likely a skill level #1 or 2. Not very much chassis and suspension details, which makes the kit, kinda, "meh!" In my opinion! Comes with 2 metal axles, to make it a really nice toy car 🚗 to play with, once built!

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench

      There have been a lot of lackluster kits being produced lately. Especially, the AMT Craftsman series kits. This one at least had separate exhaust and rear suspension from the chassis. This one only came with one metal axle but still rolls around nicely! I was just playing with it when I decided to check my comments. LOL
