- Patrick Allen, The Voice of Authority, introduces twenty five or so logos for VHS video distribution companies, as seen at the start of countless tapes bought and rented in the UK from the 1980's onward.
This is in response to the overwhelming popularity of the Guild Home Video logo, we posted up a few years ago. - Развлечения
The fact that 2:07 is not a meme yet is mind blowing
yeah true
"So, DON'T DO IT!"

4:52 Early Entertainment in Video releases were issued through Walton Video, as seen here: ruclips.net/video/VvE1fjONXFM/видео.html . They later had a distribution deal with CBS Records before eventually going it alone.
Man, Intervision was funky.
It’s a track called Daytripper by Alan Hawkshaw & Brian Bennett. It’s from a pretty funky album called synthesizer & percussion from 1974. Worth a listen
Sounds like a compilation of sounds made with a powerful synthesizer like the Synclavier or Fairlight CMI
The odyssey logo gave me eargasm
it didn’t for me
Nostalgia is different for everyone
1:46 nice sounding
3:42 wow i'm crying hearing this synth
Had to keep reminding myself I wasn't waiting for a movie to start.
I'm currently restoring the start of my 'Zombie Nightmare' tape an have been looking for the IVS logo EVERYWHERE. Thanks so much!
2:07 for some reason this intro is funny
Rest In Peace
Patrick Allen
Brings back happy day's 😁😀😎😀😁☺☺☺😉
wow, memories of renting videos on a Friday or Saturday night.
I remember 4:00 from Thomas The Tank Engine.
Good times.
3:41 I like select video
thank you for this!!! using as a reference !! ^^
now i am feeling nostalgic
The 80s looked like such a cool place. Nowadays intros are all about dubstep and crap.
The music and colors where great why do people like this modern music i don't get what is appealing about this high pitched repetitive garbage people listen to these days.
You're talking about RUclips
BAH BUH BOH BAH BUH BAH BOH
now in 2018 there's sharkfx, mewfx, rafted designs, aaronhafeezgfx, YOU NAME IT. 2D BLENER, PANZOID CM2, PANZOID CM3, AE INTROS!
Ok boomer
700th like. That kind of retro intros are just gorgeous.
Love the early CGI that some of these logos have
Have a look into the Quantel Paintbox and Mirage videos people have on here!
You know... I've been drawing logos like these as HUMANS!!! Yesterday, it was the first anniversary of drawing them. Movie, VHS, TV, and maybe... product logo, as well. Wait a minute, I haven't think of that, yet. But great idea I had last year, no?
The Virgin one at 2:05 is so over designed and doesn't use the actual text in any way really - I love it.
2:57 Holy fucking shit, I remember this as a kid. Just seeing this and hearing it brought be back a nice feeling. Fucking tremendous.
I was always a fan of "The Video Collection" opening.

My favorite logos are Intervision and START (State of the Art).
Intervision’s logo looks cel-animated. Pretty rare for a VHS company! (Most VHS company logos use early computer animation or Scanimate.)
There’s something about START’s harp intro as its music.

The 80's were so awesome time!!!
I Love This Esthetic!!!
Dig the music for Intervision's logo at 6:39, some buttshakin' disco funk! Get down! :D
(Plus the animation is kinda kool, too....)
the video collection brings back some memories ..most of them do. its like time travel..
I remember some of the logos on the VHSs.
That RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video logo is awesome!
alpha video always scared me as a kid as i knew dawn of the dead was coming!
i agree, i'm 8 years old and have never had a vcr and alpha video actually makes me feel like an 70's/80's kid being scared of that logo. i'm actually getting a vcr for christmas.
same man...its still a bit creepy now

198th and 199th decades VHS Distribution Logos
The one for Odyssey Video is gorgeous.
I recognize that music from somewhere but I can't place it.

Does the 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment logo, Fox Video logo, and CBS Fox Video logo come in the beginning of Mister Rogers Neighborhood: Friends 1508 that was released on DVD in February 6 1996?
Odyssey and Select Video are my favourites
I feel the same way! Would Peter Dickson even have a VO career without Patrick Allen's death? Yet somehow, even Patrick wasn't as popular as Peter Dickson is now... go figure!
I remember when vhs first came out
7:25 I've been trying to look for this logo/ident for years and I finally found it!
7:25

I had the last logo on Chuck Jones' Raggedy Ann & Andy specials on VHS during my childhood.
Select video is eerie and depressing, at least I think the noise is melancholic
Same sentiment here, mate
it was chosen as a scary logo😅
What movie did the video gems logo come from
*YOU MEAN BOTH LOGOS?*
nostalgia is a delectably consumed egg
Virgin was my 2nd favorite logo of all time
6:21 Thorn Emi Video
Whoa that's what I thought too!
So DON'T DO IT.
Well said, Mr. Allen.
IT'S FUNNY~ OUT OF ALL THE VIDEO GEMS LOGOS: THE AMERICAN VIDEO GEMS LOGO FROM 1984-1996 IS THE PRE-CERT VIDEO GEMS LOGO, ACCORDING TO THE 80'S VIDEO COMPANY IDENT-I-THON SHOWN ON THE VIDEO NASTIES DVD OF 2010!

Video Collection sure sounds like Strand Home Video
*STRAND HOME VIDEO WAS THE AMERICAN VIDEO COLLECTION INTERNATIONAL!*
are these mostly UK logos?
You Will Find Upcoming Selections Available on the...Network Label. did anybody notice that?
It is the 70s & 80s Logos That Maded By The Old Logos
*IN THE WORDS OF THE LATE GUNNER HANSON ''ACTUALLY, THAT'S JUST WHAT IT IS!''*
The Network Labels jump cut, yeah I noticed it, Looked like poor Allan needed to do another take?
I feel like I'm living through one of my childhood fever dreams. :|
My favorite is Simitar.
***** Probably the first keyframe of the animation.
some of these were in the video nasty era thanks for the nostalgia.frankie o'neil smales.smales tv uk-host
Oh god, Channel 5! Back from when there wasn't a fifth channel...
Video Gems reminds me of the Disney's Classics ident.
THE THE SECOND ONE REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING?
6:37 YES

6:49
Select video (1979-1984)
Almost all of them had sinister creepy music! They werent always horror movies!!!
Where’s Embassy?
Are these Public Domain?
John Kolbek I don't believe they are, like many old clips on RUclips, but their preservation online, with hope, supersedes that.
Thank you!

IVS was a Yugoslav concert distributor, guessing once the collapse happened they went down too
@@smophie6260 That will be a different company altogether.
SOME OF THESE ARE FROM THE VHS COMPANIES OF THE 80'S VIDEOS MADE BY CZAR7474 (now known as little whore records!)
The Odyssey logo gave me hyper :D it's better than jetix
Edited: but the channel 5 gave me creeps :(
Well that means I can't display my own logos. Bummer.
You can blame Polygram for that. ;)
my favorite is alpha
And your scared
I don't think its a scary logo. It's a cool one.
I Think it is Cool Too!
