The *Persian Gulf* is a strategic and historically significant body of water in the Middle East. It is bordered by *Iran* to the north and several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq, to the south and west. A significant portion of the Persian Gulf's coastline lies within **Iran**, making it a major player in the region.
The Persian Gulf connects to the Arabian Sea through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for global oil transport. The region is rich in natural resources, particularly oil and gas, with Iran controlling a substantial part of these reserves. Iran's strategic position, especially its control over the **Strait of Hormuz**, gives it considerable influence over global energy supplies.
Historically, the name *"Persian Gulf"* has been widely recognized in ancient and modern texts, although disputes over its naming have arisen in recent years. Iran's cultural, historical, and geopolitical presence in the Persian Gulf region is essential to understanding the area's importance.
The Persian Gulf is a mediterranean sea in Western Asia. The body of water is an extension of the Indian Ocean (Gulf of Oman) through the Strait of Hormuz and lies between Iran to the northeast and the Arabian Peninsula to the southwest.
In 550 BC, the Achaemenid Empire established the first ancient empire in Persis (Pars, or modern Fars), in the southwestern region of the Iranian plateau. Consequently, in the Greek sources, the body of water that bordered this province came to be known as the "Persian Gulf".
During the years 550 to 330 BC, coinciding with the sovereignty of the Achaemenid Persian Empire over the Middle East area, especially the whole part of the Persian Gulf and some parts of the Arabian Peninsula, the name of "Pars Sea" is widely found in the compiled written texts.

I like persian history and culture, but i will just add one thing, nobody can own sea (including US), even if you are a whale, all waters should stay outside the political subjects and are international boarders. the water is called persian gulf becouse of its history. but remember its 2022, many countries arround the gulf are growing and becoming big part of the gulf. not calling the gulf of any nation would even increase relations between Iran and other countries arround the gulf. imagine if Russia renamed Caspian sea to Russian sea when they conquered the lands arround it during the reign of Stalin, how would Iranians feel, thats a kind of the same feeling the Arabs have. althought the name Caspian also delivers from Iranic origin, (sancient tate of Kaspian/modern Qazvin & Rasht).
Allways look 100 years into future, not into the past. what if the name persian gulf changes to something like ‘’Middle gulf’’ which wont insult any of the sides of the claim. Anyways, wishing good luck and bright days for all Iranian from US 💙

Your analogy is incorrect, Russia could not change the name of Caspian sea because the historic name is Caspian sea and Russians migrated to Caucasus area in 17th c, while Iranic people lived there for millennials before, as they did on the shores of Persian Gulf. A historic name is not up to debate for change, unless it is insulting. A name change can occur back to historical name such as Stalingrad to Volograd not vise versa.
The fact that the Persian gulf Arabs cannot accept the name of Persian gulf shows their resistance to Persian culture and history and her exposure through out the millennials. All Pan Arabs want is to turn anything non-Arabs into insignificant objects.
There are Gulf of Oman and Arabian sea. I don't see other neighbors including Iran, Pakistan and India protesting the names! Because there is nothing wrong with a name of a historic nation on a body of water, what harm can it cause, it does not redraw borders or exert territorial claim on anything, it is just a name of people who have lived there since Ancient times.
@@essentialpassion i undrestand and accept your terms , but there is a difference in between persian gulf and capian sea, if arabs were sailors in the gulf before the persians migrated to the region arround 3000 bc, then the persians would have adopted the name already were wide spread in teh region so why there never mentioned any name for it in any ancient arabic map or stories, storied from babylon and Sumerian, that means they never been sailors they never traveled across the sea, so when persians during the median empire 700 bc became know as the first and only sailors of the gulf therefor their name was accepted as be the name for the gulf and was mentioned in all persian, greek and toman sources as Sinus persicus, or Darya e Pars
