Just 1:45 seconds in, finally I’ve found an RV video with a large Travel trailer rather than a 5th wheel. It’s great to get an actual idea with space, storage, and features to match with.
Your closet shelving idea is a really creative solution if you don't want to penetrate trailer walls. I love that!
The closet shelves is the best solution I have seen so far. Really well done!
Thanks so much for the feedback Mike! They are holding up really well and we are very glad we added them.
The wife and i are VERY close to deciding to do just this. Great tips..thank you for the education..keep them coming!
Omg! I have been searching all over for a shelving fix, your idea is perfect! Thank you!👍🏼🙌🏽😀
Finally. someone doing real fixes!
common sense, and well done. great video. it gives me food for thought about what i'd like to do to our rv when the time comes. good luck to you and yours wherever you go.
carry on!!
The shelf mod idea is my best take away from this. Gonna steal that one. Lol. Imagine how high the shelves are in our 5th wheel and it's just a tall...not very deep...wasted space. Already added some metal folding shelves, but this gives me a good idea for a better upgrade. Thx
Great ideas, will do them on our TT.
Keep posting more videos, really enjoy watching them.
Thanks for sharing your tips. I love what you've done here. Will subscribe and watch the series. Thanks!
Thank you for subscribing and for the comment!
Wow. So much good stuff and WHO would think about any of it (until in a remote location where nothing could be done at that time)! And what a beautiful travel trailer! I didn't realise they could be so gorgeous and roomy!
Gives me more options for what am looking for, thank you for your video. Now if you'll please excuse me, I'm off to watch some more that you've posted! 👍 ☕ 👌
Thanks and hope you like the other vids too!
Totally Tr
good stuff. been a full-timer in a 1990 5th wheel for 2 years in northern Az. not in a park. in the forest on a ranch. so many things I learned due to necessity.
cool channel guys, looking forward to seeing some new adventures from you guys, glad we found your channel. .. hopefully some more great tips is what we are looking forward to... liking this channel so far!
Hi Joe, thanks so much for the feedback, we are glad you found our channel too! We will be sharing some more tips and "what we've learned so far" videos too..so stay tuned!
Looks great ... good ideas on the upgrades. Doing my AC tape today (thanks for the pointer) and ordering the air vents today as well. Safe travels!!!!
Happy to hear that! Let us know if it helps you too :)
Brilliant! I've been trying to figure out how to put shelves in our bedside cupboards! Same situation. Not really long enough for longer shirts, let alone dresses. It has way too much empty space at the top, such a waste. I'm adding this to my dear hubby's 'Honey-Doo' list!
Glad you liked it Sue...our apologies to hubby for adding to his "to-do" list :)
The open and close air vents looks great along with the foil tape. Subscribed and will be looking in. Thank you!
Glad you liked the video and thanks for subscribing!
I thought I was brilliant, but, your shelves in the front bedroom were awesome
Really good simple upgrades. Great vid.
open & close air duct vent covers u can also turn, very nice w/accent. Foil taping ac returns & door stopping inside ducts to direct airflow out of trunk line into vent easy smart diy.
Awesome video! Thanks so much for uploading!!
The material in the bed of your truck is very handy on flat surfaces in the trailer too. If you put the hook side of industrial strength Velcro on the bottom of items, I believe you will find that the Velcro will do an excellent job of keeping them in place, even on the roughest roads, provided the carpet is not able to move. Coffee makers, unmounted televisions, small microwaves, and other items can be secured in this fashion. It's a simple hack i learned driving a semi. The inside of the bunk area was completely covered with that fabric, so I was able to Velcro things to the walls as well. When I quit driving, i simply pulled the Velcro loose and the truck looked the same as it did the day I got it. A very simple, cheap way of making more area useful for very cheap.just remember to use industrial strength, normal Velcro is NOT strong enough.
You answered a fundamental question on the cabinets on an existing coach because like you I don't want to be drilling into the structure thank you very much
Really well thought out mods; gosh, don't know which I like the best. The shelving in the BR wardrobes is especially good. Like the idea of tack nailing the shelves, but, if they're tight enough, might not need to do that. Sealing the joints in the A/C unit; who'd have thought about that (OK, that MIGHT just be for me!)! Using the foam insulation under the water pump is great, too; that vibration noise is so frustrating. The bed rug and accessories in the trk bed will be useful, too. It'll cut down on the nose/vibration and keep the bed looking a lot better longer. Thks for sharing; have sub'd. Hope you and the family enjoy your new adventure. Y'all Be Safe!
Good video iv been living in an Rv for like 5 years and didn’t know some of that stuff
Hello from Tampa,Florida!!....Great video and all very usable ideas!! Thanks!! I loved the Bed Rug for your truck bed...It gives me an idea for my 2008 Nissan Titan Crew Cab...I have the short, 5'.5" bed....Gives me ideas for mine..I have owned mostly class A motorhomes and 2 pull behind travel trailers...So from a huge Bluebird Wanderlodge to a Victory Lane Toy Hauler towed with an Infiniti QX56 suv!! Now I'm looking for another RV..trying to decide between towing a trailer with the Titan as it can tow 9800LBS or selling the truck and going with another Class A....Safe travels to your family
Awesome video with super helpful information!
Dad humor @ 5:30! Good stuff! lots of good ideas
A nice video... I just subscribed because your attention to detail and you're honest evaluation on your stuff
VERY helpful - some great ideas. Thank you!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!!
Nice job. Good changes, makes sense except for the elimination of a hanging locker. Should have left one for coats
I use to work in a Mobil Home Manufacturing plant in the late 70's.
They continue to roll out the door while you work on them.
Great idea on the A/C Ducts !! :)
SO you know exactly what we are talking about regarding how the rig was made :)
Yes, I understand, If you say anything to your supervisor about something you see wrong, They tell you to get back to work or you'll get a "Write-Up". It's probably the same with RV's.
Great video, loved your mods. I guess one of the biggest issues with modding your RV is getting over the fear of killing the resale value on a few of these things. You did a great job on maintaining that, I cant say the same after ripping out the bunk house to make room for my desk and server rack.
Great video with some great ideas. Thanks. The only caution I would make is be careful closing off too much air flow with those ceiling vents. If you restrict too much air flow you could freeze the coil and draw liquid refrigerant into your compressor and ruin it.- Very expensive repair.
The sealing off openings with foil tape is a really good idea but makes air flow restriction all the more critical. I’m heading to Loewes for some of that tape now.
Some great ideas here. I'm going to have to take a look at our water pump in our Airstream and see if we can insulate in a similar manner. That sucker is loud when we're boondocking! I can't wait to follow along here and see what other tips and tricks we can pick up for our full time living adventure. I'm definitely putting in at least one shelf in my bedside cabinet. Hubby's side came with one but not mine!
Hi fellow full timer :) Happy you found a few useful tricks and hopefully you can muffle the sound of your water pump too! Keep us posted and wishing you happy and safe travels!
Thanks Totally Trailer! Safe travels to you as well :)
Great mod ideas, Thanks for sharing
Best closet shelves yet! Thanx!
Thank you, even after 5 years they have held up just like the day I put them in (and we have a lot of clothes)!
I like your idea for adding shelves in the closets. You might think about adding a slide awning so you don't have to get up there to check for "junk" everytime you close it. Enjoy your videos keep up the "good work".
Thanks so much lethomps1! We only put extra storage stuff on the top shelf in the back, just so we don't have to blindly reach back there all the time. But a slide is a good idea :) Glad you like the videos!
Sorry I wasn't clear. I was talking about the slide out on the side of camper. You will need to make sure it is clean evertime you close it. If you put a slideout awning on it then they stay clean. Just makes it a little easier.
lethomps1 Oh good call :) thanks!
Great info for us wanna B RVs. Very neat stuff. Pun intended. Happy and safe travels.
Happy to help, hope you get to RV soon :)
Thank you for the great information!
Absolutely awesome video! New sub here, I have been looking for a way to add shelves to the cabinet above my RV sink in the kitchen since it is just one big cabinet with no shelves. But I have been reluctant to drill any holes in the walls! Your idea to add shelves will be the perfect way for me to that!
Glad to hear the cabinets might work for you. We didn't want to drill into the rig too much and this has been working great for us. Would love to hear how your cabinets come out. Keep in touch!
Wow great info! Going to subscribe! Hope to see more
Wow thanks for sharing! Just started watching You Tube videos on full time rving
bill lancaster hi Bill! Thanks for watching, we are glad you found our channel!
What were the steps to installing the adjustable ceiling ducts? Just bought a 2018 Palomino Puma 32rkts and would like to be able to have more control of the a/c in some areas. Thanks....very useful info in your video :)
I'm going to have to pay this guy to mod my trailer for me when I get it! Pro job.
We'd love to help anytime :)
Excellent work on the closets, that is a much more efficient use of space! I think I am going to have to steal your water pump idea, ours is soooo loud! The rest of your mods are excellent. Thank you for sharing!
Hope you can quiet your water pump too, they are noisy little buggers! Thanks for the comment :)
there is a positive side to hearing your water pump. If you hear your pump cutting on and off when there is no water running, then you have a leak somewhere. If you quiet the pump, by the time you discover the leak, it may be too late.
That's a good point. I am hoping to just reduce the noise. My water pump is so darn loud, I don't think I could ever silence it completely!
Good upgrades thank u
Love the trailer set up. My wife and I are looking at moving in to a trailer next year. Wanted to know if you could do a video on your power set up.
Hi Deeds, yes we will be doing a video on our power, set up and solar soon. We have been testing a lot of different things, so we hope we can put together a really informative video to help other people!
Really great improvements! I look forward to more videos.
Thanks for the positive feedback! A deer ran into the side of our brand new truck, so we have been stranded in the Vegas heat wave for way too long but we are working on new videos (one about mods to our RV fridge in the summer) too. Everyday is a new adventure :) Stay tuned and happy travels
+Totally Trailer Wow. Sorry to hear that. Better days and safe travels.
I live in Vegas, welcome!
And last month is the WORST of the summer heat! When anybody asks, "What's the temperature today?" my reply is always, "A hundred and STUPID!"
I've heard there aren't really any RV parks here but some of the casinos have "doable" sites..?
Hope you managed to have a nice time here 😀
Very cool info and great ideas, looking forward to more videos I will be following your channel.
Thanks for following along, glad to have you!
Good info. Wow, seems like sloppy work on that a/c area! Nice vents you put in. Why were the wheels being put back in the truck? Did you have air shocks installed?
Like some of your ideas, something I am surprised your tow vechicle how do you see on both sides of it with the mirrors on your truck, you also look over weight for the 1/2 ton truck.
Just subscribed to your channel. Love your mods that you've done. Especially the shelving in the closets. My wife sees that and I'm in trouble. We have a Keystone Bullet lite 28' and the floor plan is basically the same without the couch but, who really needs a couch when your out and about?
You're not missing anything...the couch is pretty uncomfortable. Thanks for subscribing, hope you enjoy the other vids too
Plan to binge watch tonight lol.
Nice modifications and good explanations as well. Waiting for the video on the electronics mods and why you selected the products you did.
Thanks Bill! Working on the electronics mods. We've been delayed due to problems with the wifi booster but stay tuned!
I wanted to splice into our camper we are buying but your idea of hard wiring the inverter seems so much easier. Is it a 30 amp and would it run everything including air if you had say 800 watts worth of solar panels thanks for any info
will do!
So when you did you 30 Amp pigtail was the black & white wires already set up like shown in the video or did you have to open it up and extend your own conductors to mate to ? Thanks for the help before I open mine.
Some Great Idea,s,,,,,Subscribed !!
Glad you liked the mods and ideas for the trailer and happy to have you as a new subscriber :)
WOW That's what I call doing your homework.
Thank you :)
The inverter you use has Wide operating DC input range 21.4 - 33.0 VDC. Do your batteries provide 12V or 24V input to then inverter? thanks
Now a year later how have the shelves in the clothes closet held up? What was the thickness of the actual shelf part? DId they sag because they look quite thin.
Thanks for sharing this video, good ideas.
Happy to help and glad you liked it!
Shelves are good. Don't think there is a need to staple them in place as they aren't going anywhere and can take them out if needed.
Hey buddy thanks for the video! I have been looking into RV's for the past year. Reading the review on them just terrify me. I want to full time next year, I'm 44, retiring as an LEO, I'm pretty handy but from everything I've read these things just fall apart. Any specific brands you recommend from experience? Thanks a lot man.
Good ideas!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Cabin Creek it up
Great idea shelving
Thanks Darryl, hope you got some good ideas for your rig out of it! Safe travels :)
Excellent videos & ideas.
Thanks Steve, we appreciate that!
Where do you park how much a month do you spent on RV ground or parking the RV
Great mods, love the shelf idea. Our previous trailer (R-pod 178) had no hanging space which we didn't like and our current trailer (Jay Feather 24T) has 2 hanging closets like yours that we thought would be great but, the only thing I hang is a couple shirts. Not sure if I want to give up ALL the hanging space, maybe a 50/50 hybrid design. Narrower shelves for socks, underwear, etc. It's not like I need my suits.
I'm lovin' the Bedrug! Currently our TV is a full-size SUV (Infiniti QX56) but, I want to upgrade to a F250 diesel. My only concern is we travel with our black Lab, Terra, and we are wondering how hot it will be in the back of a pickup during the summer months. I'm thinking if we leave the back slide-window open and with the Bedrug providing some insulation it might work. What are your thoughts? thanks, Bob
Thanks for the comment, hope the cabinet idea will work for you! We LOVE the bedbug in the back. A deer ran into the side of our brand new truck, so we have been stranded in the Las Vegas heat wave without our tow vehicle and I have to say it gets pretty hot in that back of that cab. We did cut some silver insulation pieces to keep it cooler, but depending on where you are traveling and the temperatures, it can get pretty toasty back there. By the way, we have another "closet" next to our pantry that we left as a hanging closet for our nicer shirts and dresses and that seems to be the perfect fit for our clothing needs! Best of luck and happy travels....would love to see pics if you get the bedbug and pickup!
Thanks for the info... I'll send pics. Sorry to hear about the accident and the Vegas heat.
wan·der·lust Happy to help! Looking forward to your pics :)
Does your battery bank ever run out of juice? Awesome mods!! 👌🏽
Hi Bigben, our battery bank hardly ever runs out of juice. We have about 400 amp hours of total power. Can the battery bank run out of juice? Oh yes! If we use the microwave, the TV, the heater and leave the lights on a lot during boondocking camping we can run out of juice easy. It''s all about power management and conservation.
How do you shower how do you run the water have many questions
Wow, very nice mods!!!!
Alonzo J. Thanks for watching!
Nice Work!
Thanks Jason :)
Do you just have portable solar to charge your batteries? I wanna do the same when I get my Keystone . Good vid.
Yes we use portable solar panels to charge our batteries unless we are in a full hook up campground and don't need them
Yes, we have portable solar panels. We are editing a video right now on our solar set up. That will be the next vid we post....Thanks for the note!
Do you have two sets of batteries separately connected to different systems? There was a bank of batteries visible in the video near the inverter and there appears to be batteries mounted on the trailer tongue. Please embellish.
Yes, you are exactly right we have two separate battery banks. One bank (two lead acid batteries) are mounted on the trailer tongue these are used as the regular house 12 volt battery. The other system is actually four AGM 6 volt batteries that are wired together to make two banks of 12 volts, we use this system to exclusively power the 2000 watt inverter. With the inverter on we can run our Microwave, TV and power all the 110 volt power sockets in the trailer. I will be doing a detailed video in the future about this system as well as the pros and cons of doing it this way.
Understand. Thanks for the reply.
Very good ideas...thanks....just found you....subbed.....
Welcome Van, glad you found us and subscribed :) Another new video to come soon...
It was refreshing to see your wife putting in some Sweat Equity instead of watching Oprah hahaha wish you guys well please give more details as I am preparing this year to go full timing the good The Bad and The Ugly thank you
Is your truck 4x4 or 4x2? Any specific reason why you chose 4x4 or 4x2?
Hi Caleb, our truck is 4x2. The 4x2 is lighter, so they have a bigger towing capacity and can tow more than the 4x4's. The 4x2 was also $10,000 cheaper than the 4x4 counterpart (which was a big difference for us). We do wish we had a 4x4 again though because we love off-roading and exploring!
having trouble with the volume, 2nd vid, I watched that I was unable to hear what was spoken.
Try headphones or ear buds. Thats what I had to do.
Love the pump mod.👍🏻Quite is better. Tiki 🚎💨💨💨
Quiet is way better :) Thanks for the comment!
The only thing I like about a loud water pump is knowing I will hear it run if I have a leak somewhere.
I have to comment.. If someone is coming down the road, and they don't see a huge camper, do you think they will see the tiny little cones and be like, oh look cones, WHOAAA a trailer. good thing those cones were there, or I may have hit the camper.
very cool
We appreciate that, thank you!
Solid advice,nice guy gorgeous wife...
Thanks for the compliment and kind words! I'm a lucky guy
What kind of cooling improvements did you see with the A/C taped up
Hi there Lance, we noticed a DRAMATIC improvement with the duct tape work! We were actually getting ready to purchase a brand new 15k air conditioner because it was unbearable in here last summer. After the tape fix, it stays perfectly cool in here and we are in Vegas during a heat wave (it's been 117 here) and we are comfortable. Huge difference, we are telling everyone we know about that trick! Hope it helps :)
+Totally Trailer thanks for the rapid reply. we have this exact same trailer and I love your projects. We experienced some 95+ degree days and both the A/C and refrigerator didn't really seem up to the task. good to know we can address one of these issues without the dealer.
Lance Kenison We feel ya bro! One more thing, don't forget the colorable vent covers. That helps a lot too. You can close off the vents you aren't using and make the main cabin really (extra) cold! Avoid the dealer, overtime we took ours in for warranty, they broke something else (and told us there "nothing wrong with our fridge or A/C"). We are finally getting a new cooling unit directly from Dometic for our fridge (it has never gotten above 48-55 degrees. We had it in the dealer three times with no result and my wife went straight to Dometic for a result. Good luck. Keep us posted and let us know if it helps!
Do you remember where/what the closable vent covers are? Maybe a part number?
Yep, here's the exact one we bought for our trailer. Found it on amazon: JR Products ACG25DPW-A Polar White Adjustable Ceiling Vent with 0.25" Collar. We bought one for each vent, totally worth it and highly recommend! Good luck- hopefully you get "cool" soon
💖💜💛💚💙
how many gallons of fresh water cn you hold ? and how big is the water heater ?
Hi Mike we have 60 gallons of fresh water and the water heater holds an additional 5 gallons. The gray tank is 76 gallons and the black tank is 38 gallons.
if your in an area with out water , how does 60 gals work out for showers etc
Hi Mike with 3 of us in the trailer we can do about 3 days easy including showers, toilets and hand washing. If I know were going to be longer than 3 days I fill up four additional 5 gallon water jugs we carry with us. You have to do a "navy shower" and we do everything we can to conserve water but with 2 girls in the trailer they want their daily showers, no exceptions. It works out to about 5 gallons per person per day. Hope that helps.
The on board water tank is 63 gallons, plus I usually carry an extra 20 gallons in the back of the truck. The water heater is a 6 gallon unit
What mileage do you get towing?
Hi Jim, we get about 12-14MPG when towing
how well does your truck pull it
Hi James, it pulls it remarkably well. It has enough guts to accelerate uphill and pass (if you needed to), we don't push it, but nice to know it has that power if you need to get out of the way :)
You may want to slow down your speaking.
