Congrats to Carey for a brilliant maiden ton while Nortje's pace and sustained effort were so exciting to watch, however for me the highlight was Cam Green's ecstatic reaction when his teammate reached the milestone. Along with Marnus scrificing himself for Warner yesterday it's another example of how tight the group has become and how they're playing for each other.

Commentators of today are abysmal - completely Americanised forever telling you how fantastic everything is so you don't have to use your own brain. Everythig is turned up to 11 and after a while I just have to hit the mute button to get a break from the utter garbage being spouted.

Averaging 40 coming in at 7. V V nice. Thats better than all the English top and middle order other than Joe Root.
Of course his glovework is the most important thing, but to have a solid number 7 is gold. That can win many matches for them over a period of years. If he can avg maybe 35 over the next 5 years it would be damn sweet, anything more is a bonus. It wasnt in doubt, but it is still great to see a guy truly locking in his place long term. Nice knock.

SA are a top team in a transitional slump, but Nortje, Zondo, Jansen, Bavuma & especially Verreynne will improve matters before long; Ngidi & Rabada have been good, but need support and improving their spin stocks needs to occur after their top order is addressed. Green & Carey did what they need to be doing with an element of regularity. Few criticisms can be made of Australia as it was a true team performance; it will be great to see Morris & Boland has fit superbly; it was a flatter pitch, but passive tactics by SA made it seem flatter. Australia do need to improve on lively pitches and seamer fitness will be a future concern, but this was a fine effort.
