Nerd in the comments (Assuming that location was near Kokstad, South Africa):
    Kokstad, ZA - Qatar = 6640.52 km
    Kokstad, ZA - Perth = 7978.55 km
Turns out, nope. Aus is more than 1 whole Africa away from Africa.

I travelled quite a lot for work and also some for holidays in the past and have all six continents covered (Antarctica missing, probably forever). I got 20,050 on Geowizard's challenge link. Here is my comment I put under that video: Fantastic idea. I only had one miss I think where I was much closer than I guessed: I had been to Malmö but went Jönköping as a hedge for Sweden (recognisable from blue yellow spiral post next to pedestrian crossing). Otherwise the M1 for Silverstone, Chicago Airport for Tennessee (not sure whether Orlando may have been slightly closer), Trivandrum for Sri Lanka and Vancouver Airport for Portland (I can't remember whether I visited Victoria on Vancouver Island, but I think we kept to the Northern half). 20,050 points. Quite happy. Could have been 750 more with a Malmö plonk.
