I really had to really laugh out loud just seeing the thumbnail and title. Haiku is to this channel what heat pumps are to Technology Connections, and I love everything about it. Please never change, Sean!

The presence of eSATA dates the system back to right around 2009 to 2010 or so, as it was short-lived in the consumer space before USB 3.0 came out and Intel and AMD both started supporting that. The use of an Intel Core 2 Duo confirms that. The "Digital Engine" branding seems to suggest that the box was actually used as part of some pre-made display client for a digital signage system, and that in turn reminded me of when I imagined using Haiku to run display clients on a digital signage system.

Gonna be "that guy", Geico needs some more tank goods. Lil dude's set up is rather sad, especially for an older guy like him. Plenty of guides online that can give examples and the like, he really looks like his set up is out of the 90's and not in a good way, unlike everything else you showcase. Love your work on everything else!
It's got a lot more user io whan what I'd expect from a digital signage machine (granted I've not worked closely with them so I could be wrong) but the size and io does remind me a lot of the HP elitedesk mini series, it reads to me like one of the office mini pcs that attack to the back of a monitor
That driver I wrote for the Sonix based webcams I should really finish someday 😅Back then only those had a chance of working because they could be used in bulk mode (same transfer mode as mass storage), while all others required isochronous which wasn't implemented properly until recently in the USB stack. Same on AmigaOS btw, Corto wrote a driver for these because of the same issue… We supposedly have a UVC driver but I don't think it's working at all.
Anyone else ever perplexed at Sean’s varying levels of tech skill? 😂 one moment you’re having trouble with a webcam and the next you’re using that same webcam with a complicated sounding script and successfully making a live cam webpage.
I've used a couple passively cooled industrial computers like this one, and they all get uncomfortably hot. I think it's by design, but it didn't feel right to me either.
I'm a bit confused, the port looks like a serial port not vga. I think I'm still waking up lol I had to replay that part in the beginning a couple more times

no

ESATA as an USB port. ?? 🤔
@paulluce2557 some do, some don't

combined esata and USB ports are also really handy because you don't need a separate connection for power (usually), provided you have the right cable
It’s definitely sata but it doesn’t look like a usb equipped one.
"Oh Lord, how long has it been since we tested codycam!?" -- Haiku Developers
Looks like the cam got bumped. It was looking at Geico at first, but it is now studying a flower pot.
That computer looks like one of the 'Little Guys' that Cathode Ray Dude does videos about.

VGA ? Looks like serial.
The rear port that you didn't recognize is a combo eSATA/USB port.
Yeah it's definitely e-SATA. I have a mini-PC with almost exactly these same specs that has one.

I love the choice fishcam throwback. You should see if you can have the browser team at haiku route ctrl+alt+f to frogfind
mSata SSD, not M.2 sadly 😢
Frogcam is pointed at a box of blue rubber gloves.
It indeed is. It needs some sticky tape to hold it in place.
And they are blue, but don't move. A bit boring...
That's the problem I ran into with those little boxes too. I was like "a full computer" and then I was like "lol never meant to be in a box so small"
I'm gonna assume it's some kind of slim client for a smart sign.
I'd love to find a machine like that to build a tv top DosBox machine

The fan contraption is a win.
I have a similar system, and such contraptions really help at long full load.
Searched the company up, and it does seem like they're for digital signage. They're manufactured by a company called 'AOPEN'

Aaah, another video from one of my favorite youtube channels, Action Haiku.
Nice flashbacks to the ol' Codycam at Be, Inc. HQ. Great project!
I just checked the frogcam: Geico isn't nowhere to be seen.
I am waiting to install haiku on satellite receiver
This is something bringus studios would somehow install SteamOS on
We have VGA *points at serial port*
Is this the channel to watch if I like installing random OSs on e-waste I found on the side of the road?
We need a challenge crossover: Bringus does Haiku and Action Retro does SteamOS
fix the angle of live camera please!
Gotta love some mystery computer box action. 🥳
I also have a 20+ year old reptile! mine is a red eared slider named noah and he's been in my family for 25 years
Nice. One more thing working on my Nintendo dsi :)

its pissing down where i live in london and geico kinda made me forget how soaked i am rn :)
that heatsink is hilarious lol
