  • Today we go over all the different aspects of our Sigma Cine V35 Project lenses, what went into the look and where we drew inspiration from. More specifically, well do direct comparisons to the Sigma Classics and the Sigma Cine and where these fit in the lineup.

I’m fortunate that Sigma lent me their primes for a couple of short films so now I’m looking into trying the classic. Interesting video here as I haven’t tried them yet

Really great work. Quick question on the Sigma "Classic Art" lenses - are they still f1.4 optical designs, and the missing coatings steal that stop and a half of light? I've gotta say I actually like them quite a bit but previously dismissed them for the speed. I wish lenses would come with both f and T numbers labeled.

I have Classics and they are the same optical formula as the the Cines so they are and f/1.4. You just lost so much light due to all of the internal reflections. One thing this also creates is quite a heavy vignette with a noticeable amount more light transmission in the center of the image and a general color wash that can occur if there is a bright saturated color entering the frame. They are quite fun to play with.

Love your tests and really like the way you made this creative bokeh! I have a question on the T Stop of the V35 Version. It seems that they are a quite bit darker compared to the Sigma Cine. (Obviously I do not know the other camera settings) Are the V35s still a T1.5?
