What a coincidence. Recently ran out of Prologue related videos and this popped up. Ordered Prologue 16 yesterday and it will be my first hardware synth. As the learning curve on synths (and hopefully wallet) grows, I will get myself also a Dave Smith synth. Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your channel, it is very informative also for my kind of synth newbies. Maybe you could do sound design or other type of tutorial videos also? Could boost your channel.
I will definitely be doing something like that coming up. Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate you taking the time to say. The Prologue is a synth I plan to keep for a long time. It has a great vibe and absolutely holds up to the prophet-6 in terms of sound quality
I am in the same boat, I think I will get the prologue (sweetwater has some nice financing...) and then down the line "upgrade" if I feel I need to, but I really couldnt justify a P6 as a newb (heck, even the prologue is too expensive for a nob but yolo right? loool). Its been a year, how do you like your prologue btw? do you still have it?
Both are beautiful sounding poly synths. One I own, the other is one I play when I visit Stockholm to see family (which I do regularly) and visit the local Gear For Music store there. I too would love to hear a Jupiter X vs Prologue shoot out :-)
Man great sounds! Thanks for sharing I am actullay debating myself between these two beasts. Here in Argentina is not possible to try both , theres is almost no P 6,. Which would be your recomendation? I think they both sound fantastica but maybe I am missing some essentials
When it comes down to it, if you can afford it-- get the prophet-6. it is a true instrument and a perfect all around synth. the prologue will be half the price and that might make or break it for someone, its also got those awesome digital features and layering/many more voices. I still would have to pick the p6 if i had one or the other tho
I have both a Prologue and a Prophet 6, and love to play both. But if I had to choose, the P6 would always be my first choice, without much second thoughts. The reason is simple: The Prologue sounds great, but stays in a much more narrow/limited zone of typical Prologue sound character, while the Prophet 6 covers more different ground for me. You can use it from vintage style up to modern Electronica, from lush pads up to Future Bass Pluck sounds, from funk resoonance basses to melodic leads, in very different ways. For my ears the P6 is quite a sonic chameleon, despite the analog limitations, as soon as you know to use it better. The Prologue rather tends to keep it's main sound character, no matter how well you know it. If I could only have one analog synth on top of a workstation or the like, it would always be the P6 as my modern analog swiss knife.
@@Fluxwithit wait up you have a sp-2400 prototype... When i posted my first comment I was not aware they were in pre-production still... @@Fluxwithit does the s2400 come with patch drum sounds??? Sorry, I am a traditionalist analog only type guy (Instruments that make their own sounds straight out the box-> plug play a to b)
Sucks that you cant save a sequence for every patch on the Prologue. If that would be possible i wouldnt hesitate buying a Prologue 8 for 1000 EUR, but the fact it doesnt have a sequenceer makes me think i should get the Rev2
Tarik Kujovic I buy a synth for its sounds more than anything and the REV2 just does not so it for me. Not a big fan of the filter. You can always use an external seqeuncer and then you are not limited by the novelties of 16 steps built into a synth for demo purposes
The Prophet simply blows the Prologue away! The Prologue seems to sound a bit flat and lifeless compared to the rich high fidelity sound coming out of the Prophet. When the Prologue plays it sounds like someone threw a blanket over the speakers. Can you do a comparison between the Prologue and the Prophet REV2? That might be a better comparison although I would expect similar results. Thanks!
You think the Prologue is flat and lifeless? I think it’s just darker (less high frequencies) than the P-6. But I would say the Prologue is anything but flat and lifeless. I don’t own one but I’ve played one in a room with a Jupiter 8 and if you covered my eyes and made me loose my memory of what a Jupiter 8 sounds like - and the nostalgic songs it was in - I’d pick the Prologue 16 all day every day over it. I think your take on the Prologue is a bit condescending and built on ignorance of what it can really do.

I have both. Great Video! Thanks a lot! 😀
Man these sound so different from each other. Definitely nice to have each color
I think so too!
OB-6 vs Prologue next? Battle of the 12db!
Made In Machines okay definitely putting it on my list- I did JupiterX vs prologue because that’s what the most requests were for
But the prologue and the OB6 are side by side so I’ll do that next!

Okay I am on that request! I might even have a chance to do it today if I play my cards right!
Those pads! 🤩🤩
Another great demo MR T 🍻
I kinda lost it near the end but I do feel like it showed off how they can be very different synths when trying to do (roughly) the same things!
I have request prologue vs Jupiter X
Thanks

Both sound amazing. 16 voice bi-timbral vs 6 voice. It's really not a rational discussion/decision. The Korg is so underrated. I still love my OB-6.

What would be a better companion for the prologue? a prophet or an ob6?
my vote is for the ob6, the prologue and prophet cover a lot of the same bases
@@MRTUNA Cool! thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the videos man.
Mr. Tuna do a Sp-2400 vs DSI Tempest comparison!!!
How so? I have both here... but that’s a very apples an oranges thing to ask for.

Space Tank the squarp pyramid sequencer- but the mc707, and Modstep on the iPad are both amazing alternatives
@@MRTUNA also any MPC from the original 60 straight up to the X and the Live II can do the job. Even the little 500 that works on batteries will do.
to me, sound of the prophet seems to cut more. maybe a better lead synth while the prologue has a smoother almost mature tone.
I also think the prophet may have been louder, period, which can skew our listening impressions.
Love that Prophet. Sounds like a prophet from 1980. So rich.
Station 2Station I have only played a prophet5 once for about 15 minutes but it was pure magic

Prophet 6
P6 is so much richer. Way less harsh. (On my phone speaker)
its interesting to listen to them from different sources like that
