@@fitzpeters So look at the bottom middle 9. The middle right spot is either 2 or 4. all corners have a number. If the top 1/3 is a 1, it rules out the middle row. This means the same 1/3 has to be in the middle right. Then you move to the middle 9. Left and middle row are both ruled out of the 1 because they are in the same lines. the right row has both corners filled in so that means the middle right value has to be the same 1/3 pair. and all 3 of these spots are the same value. I would never have spotted this, myself

Unfortunately, there will never be a truly empty grid because the puzzle would have multiple solutions due to rotation :( No digits plus some restrictions at the side of the grid is the best we can get. Maybe one day the rules will be so strict that one given digit and nothing else is possible.
Commenting on this channel for the first time though I've been watching for the past 2 months. This is the best puzzle that's been showcased on the channel yet. This took me me 1 hour and 53 minutes to solve (and I was so proud of myself for being able to solve it). I started with the 7 digit thermo pair and spend 15 minutes trying to figure out a way in, only to spot the 9 digit thermo pair later - and I reacted almost exactly like how Simon reacted when he pieced it together. This is marvelous! Ri Sa, take a bow!

33:33 I can’t blame him given the mind melting nature of this puzzle, but he sure overlooks a lot of knight’s moves in here. Like not realizing that the 5 in r2,c3 forces the five in box 4 to be in r6,c4
I'm not sure why RUclips started recommending sudoku videos to me, but I highly enjoyed this and the original The Miracle Sudoku video. This one I was actually able to solve prior to finishing the video (I had it paused for a good LONG time, lol), and brought me a joy I haven't gotten from a puzzle in a long time! What an excellent puzzle.
Didn’t even realize this video was 42 minutes long until I finished it and read in the comments that this video was 42 minutes long. A very enjoyable watch that makes you lose track of time.
Absolutely beautiful construction. Seriously impressive stuff there. Wonderful puzzle, wonderful video, thanks for showcasing it. Far more impressive than the original miracle, to my mind, in that it's... Just thermo knight. Nothing fancy in that ruleset - it's thermo knight constructed in a way to imply three extra regions (one size 6, one size 7, one size 9), but rules wise it's just thermo knight.

You can absolutely hear the emotion in Simon's voice once he finds the second thermometer set. Brilliant logic, here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 23:05, a 5 could've been placed in the middle region because a 5 in R4C4 would rule out both options he has highlighted there. So the 5 goes in R6C4.
it could, had me yelling at the screen :)
Long before that, when he had the 35 pair in the upper right thermos, it ruled out the 3 and 5 in R4C4. I kept yelling at him to notice it, but it took him forever! LOL
@@buzzly108 He didn't add the 35 pair until 24:31 which is after the point in the comment you're responding to.
It's rare that I notice something he doesn't but it comforting to know I am not the only one yelling at the screen hoping he's catch it ;)
As I solved this very clever puzzle, half of my enjoyment came from anticipating Simon's glee as he solved it. "Oh, this is just lovely!"
Those new regions should be called “pseudo-regions”/“SuDo-regions”
It's perfect - I love it!
I *somewhat* overthrew my government, it was only a pseudo-coup
@@jameskivenko The accents are actually different.
I was just waiting for Simon to start calling them pentonoids and hexanoids (like the cousin concept of pentominos etc)
Solved this in 52 minutes, loved it all the way. An extraordinary puzzle, well done and THANK YOU Ri Sa!
Ironic... the last cell to be filled was the only cell on the thermometer in which the only starting digit was placed.
Plus, this thermometer wasn't heplful at all.
When I watch these videos, I follow along with the puzzle open in a separate window, and when he has a brain blast about something, I pause the video to see if I can figure it out by myself. I did that at about the half-hour mark, and lemme tell you, figuring it out myself and then watching him confirm it was SO SATISFYING! These are the moments I subscribed for :D
MFW Simon figures out the opening that I spent ages staring at: O:
MFW Simon misses placing the 5 in c4r6 for 12 minutes: ):<
This channel makes petty bastards of us all.
I was pretty much screaming "KNIGHT'S MOVE" at the monitor when he was putting in the 6 at 26:50. I have my foibles. ^^'
Mats Lindgren
I would be screaming at him for not noticing that the 9 from the beginning is in a thermometer.
Would be. But it's currently 5:00AM and I don't have the energy for that :\
This one took me an hour and a half to solve but it was a hell of a puzzle. Well worth the time spent, and even more fun to watch Simon's reactions to it.
14:26 - I thought the video stopped XD
An absolutely remarkable puzzle. I love watching Simon for hints to get me ahead of where I got stuck
What they hell does "You're having a Jessie" mean? Even Google's confused. XD
Awesome video by the way!
You're having a laugh / you're kidding me / you're joking
It's slang for homosexual. Toxic masculinity strikes even in sudokus. Disappointing.
It's a mix-up between "joke" and "Steffi" (...Graf, rhyming slang for laugh).
Gorgeous puzzle! I love how ever since you guys pranked each other there is a mistrust between you two and you need outsider confirmation about the level of puzzles. Regardless of the difficulty, I love the friendship here.
"Oh you're having a jessy" haha
can you translate it for non-native speaker?
@@artursruseckis4242 I believe it means "oh you're having me on" or "you're kidding me" but I posted because it was slang I haven't heard before and thought was funny - definitely sounds very British to my American ears!
I just missed this video as I started watching near the beginning of August. What an amazing puzzle! And Simon's raw emotion when confronted with the break-in is infectious.
My gosh, I can't even get started, still trying though
4 months have passed....how is that start doing...
There certainly is something majestic about this puzzle. I'm glad I didn't have a go (I have to go to bed at some point this evening) but it was pure joy watching it get solved, and just in time to watch the second puzzle of the day!
