      Jeff S, how’s road noise?

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 6 лет назад +6

      dimonaggie - I haven't noticed it at all. Tho I do bang da bass on the amazing HK system! I also pretty much only drive it in the eco mode. Did 40 on a gravel road once, and it was like floating on air. It is a rather quiet car.
      I've driven many different cars (Buicks, BMWs, MBs, Lexus, Audi, VW, Porsches), this is by far my favorite!

    WHY OH WHY do you use the touchscreen to alter the temp ? do your homework, you can use the voice control to change the heat settings ! NO NEED to be fumbling with the touchscreen while driving, just say " I'm hot" and the heating will be turned down ! simple.

    Hello from Sweden. It's mind-boggling to watch so many of these reviews complaining about the "large touchscreen" and the "difficulty" to adjust the temperature, the radio, the volume, the phone etc. *Have you totally missed that you can TALK to this car and do these things by voice commands???* I have a brand new Volvo XC40 and here in Sweden we adjust these things with voice control... My hands almost never leave the steering wheel on my XC40, you can find the voice button on the right side of the steering wheel. Why is it so hard for you to use this great feature? As I said: mind boggling to watch the ignorance...

    I prefer temperature to be manually controlled but agree with the comment below....use Voice Command to change temperature....we have Siri & Alexa....not too complicated!! Also use lane assist when using touch screen... for safety!!!

  • @XB29SP
    @XB29SP 6 лет назад +12

    Voice command runs NAV, Radio, Phone and Climate...you don't need to mess with the screen when driving. Reviewers don't get this.

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад +2

      Because voice commands are annoying and rarely work well. Even the best implementations require very specific phrasing. Until they can manage natural speech recognition, we’re considering voice a non-feature.

    • @XB29SP
      @XB29SP 6 лет назад +6

      Climate 70 degrees, or Climate lower fan, Play 105.5 for the radio, navigation "go to" (then state the address). These are not hard to do...

      Alan Klingaman one two s90’s 2018, the voice commands in it are pretty horrible. Even compared to my Honda Accord 2017

      Thanks for that Alan - often wonder how many accidents are caused trying to work the screens on new cars - yet we dare not look at our cellphone, lol.

    Just got mine. Inscription Pro.
    You guys get a lot more std spec than the UK.
    Oh and we only get one key. 😳 Volvo are changing this but hundreds of us here who got theirs between May 2020 and early 2021 only have one.
    And if you have an Inscription Pro from those dates, the drivers seat is likely to not have enough padding so you sit on the solid plate under the seat. It’s really not comfortable.
    Mine’s going back in, for fun and games I expect.

  • @Colin623
    @Colin623 6 лет назад +1

    Why didn't you use the voice control to change the heat setting ? no need to fiddle with the touch screen whilst driving !!

    Volvo makes the best looking SUV’s. Really liking this XC40! Not crazy about the red accents in the interior.. is it possible it get the R-Design with just black interior?

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 6 лет назад +3

      Yes, the lava carpeting on the floors and doors is a $100 option on the R design only. Standard is black carpet.

    • @jpieces
      @jpieces 6 лет назад +1

      Yes, we picked up an R design with black carpeting instead of the lava. Only, you can't get full leather in an R Design but I personally love the suede

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 6 лет назад +1

      jpieces - I have a loaded Momentum, black with red leather. I love it! I like the look of the R design seats, but the suede is very hot. I've sat in seats like that before and got out with horrible swamp ass even with the air blasting.

    • @wrewstervideo

      As good as this vehicle is, I just purchased a new Toyota Highlander Limited which is less money and has more. More room, and more options like ventilated seats. It also tows 2000 lbs more. I didn't necessarily need more room, however it seems to be the better overall value. Volvo simply needs to produce more XC40s and with cooled seating and I would have purchased my first Volvo product. Maybe next time..

    Why are cars nowadays always come only on automatic transmission.

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад +1

      Many reasons: better economy (in most cases), easier to drive (required for anyone living in LA), and these days fewer people know how to drive stick and therefore won't buy a manual-equipped vehicle.

      Driving Sports TV why required to love in LA?

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад

      Joao Redol it takes 3 hours to cross the city and traffic is almost always bad. Everyone I’ve known that has moved to LA bought an automatic for this reason. -RD

    Does it do well off-road?

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад

      We didn't have an opportunity to take this one off-road yet. We have driven the XC90 in more rugged conditions and it did fine. However, I woudn't really consider either of them for any serious off-roading (look, instead, at the Cherokee Trailhawk.)

    Ive been in a Volvo for the last 18 years. Currently in a 2005 XC90 I'm using Regular fuel with no issue. Manual actually says 87 Octane minimum. What do these new Volvo's require? can you use regular gas as supreme is over $1.55 a litre.
