I sang this in high school... I can still remember my choir director telling us to enunciate 'would you' of the line "would you be my bride" so it didn't sound like we were saying "woul-ju."
learning this song for the advanced choir at my middle school, sounds great! just can't hear much of the alto part😕 but i love what you guys did with the dynamics!!😍
Hoi! Im tem! whenever we were learning it the only problem we had was the end on "you" cause there's so much movement, but we ended up getting a one at contest. but i hope y'all do well performing it. its such a fun song.
lyrics to like half of the song maybe lol?: once two handsome gentleman asked a fair young maid a question, “what must we do to win your hand and gain your kinda affection?” one said he was stronger by far than any other man that she’d meet. also being braver than most said “please marry me, i’m adoringly sweet” then said the other “what if i gave you diamonds and pearls, would you be my bride? i can offer power and riches all through your life, you’ll be satisfied” “well” she replied “i’d make my selection and you’d receive my love and affection if you danced on my heart, if you sang to my soul” “but alas my heart is not pounding, and your sounds are not sounding. therefore i cannot marry you”
Well that also means the seconds and altos need to work on being stronger and louder. Also, that’s on the director as well to ask the groups to sing out more during the performance and unfortunately that is the amount of SOP1 in a normal choir.
Have you ever directed a high school choir? Do you know how hard it is to get ANYONE to sing 2nd or alto reliably? This is a problem in adult community choirs as well, with people who actually have a lot more experience.
Jellyton I don't know if three months is too late to say anything, but I don't care about time. I'm learning this in my varsity choir, and for the level that we've reached for only being girls between thirteen to fifteen years old, this is fairly easy. For us, though I can't speak for other choirs. The song is fast paced, but I think you'll do great. Good luck.
I am learning this right now, and first they sound so loud and so young. Also all you can hear is the sopranos. And their breathing is also very harsh. They sound so little oh my goodness.
I am learning this now in high school and OMG they sound way too young. Plus they are also singing everything too loud and too long. I am from Gahanna Lincoln High School so it maybe just me but my teacher would say the same thing.
The sopranos are strong with this one
moomena yeadon yes they are
im just picturing how sweaty their hands are by the end of this
yeah

I love this song
My little sister's choir is singing this. She's in 8th grade.
Singing this song for competition this Saturday. So nervous!
they have way too many soprano 1s. not to be rude, but they are overpowering the soprano 2s and the altos where you can’t even heat them.

@@paulacoyle5685 True, but it also falls on the director not knowing their choir well enough!
I'm signing this song for my concert on Monday
I'm doing this song next week on Monday for the Honor chior
Learning this in 2019

Curious as to the reason they're holding hands myself.
Patrick Graves it's a breathing thing we do in choir
I'm in the non varsity choir so treble girls. And we're singing this. It's easy and I'm in 8th grade. But i love the song lol
I have to do this for All-Region tryouts so we'll see how it goes
