Hi Christian , how are you doing? Don't you feel tired to making films that make a whole world feel jealous of your trip? Youuuu are living my dream!!! Amazing place to be once in life time there I think. Here are questions... - How many nights and how many dives did you do there? and which month???? - We all know that Misool Eco Resort is not cheap... the question is... is it worth it to be there? How do you like it if compare with just do liveaboard for north and south Raja Ampat? or perhaps it shouldn't compare at all? I love your film as always. Great Job!!!!!
Hey Friend!! So sorry for the late reply; i just returned back from UK! You are right.. there are few places that have to be visited once , and Misool is one for sure. You can do a 10 day liveaboard, which would include Misool and see both North and South Raja Ampat. Or a week in Misool and a week near Kri (recommend Papua Paradise). I stayed seven days in Misool. The good point of staying there is you can visit Magic Mountain numerous times, visit Jelly Fish Lake, and the Black Tip Shark Nursery etc.. Again you are right... Misool is not cheap, due to it's isolation. You could visit in November when the sardines are around in enormous schools, attracting huge amounts of modular rays and oceanic sharks! Something i missed as we went in April. Anything i can help with don't hesitate to ask! Speak again soon!
Great video! I'd love to see all those sharks in the shallows. How do you feel about Misool Eco Resort (MER) versus Papua Paradise Eco Resort (PPER)? I've gone diving in both areas from a liveaboard (Dewi Nusantara) and am thinking about a resort next time, but am unsure how to prioritize. MER has the jellyfish lake (which I have never seen), Magic Mountain, Boo Window, and the south of Raja Ampat seems less crowded. On the other hand the north of Raja Ampat has better night diving with more cool critters, my all-time favorite dive site has been Melissa's Garden (a day trip from PPER), and my impression is that PPER is a little cheaper with a substantially shorter transfer from Sorong. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the two!
Hi Nicolas, Thanks for the kind comment! Gosh, that is a tough question. Both resorts are great. Papua Paradise had amazing food when i was there. But they also took you to any dive site you wanted; you basically created your own dive schedule. It did not matter if only you wanted to visit a site alone; they would take you. At Misool the diving agenda was more organised. However after a bit of debate i did get them to take us to Magic Mountain more than the scheduled times. Both of amazing house reefs which i use to snorkel after the days diving. At Papua Paradise i did have Dugongs around my water bungalow on some mornings, which was a special treat. The house restaurant was also surrounded by juvenille black tip sharks in the evening too. I preferred the water bungalow at Papua Paradise and the bird life there was amazing too. Jelly Fish lake at Misool was an amazing day trip. You travel through a maze of tiny islands which is breathtaking. The lake is isolated and surrounded by forest and vegetation. It is quite an experience. Both are quiet but where Misool is located is totally uninhabited. If you go when the liveaboard season is over, you wont see any boats. Both have amazing Macro too and lots of sharks. I even saw many bull sharks at Misool. I have another video on you tube of just the blacktips feeding at Misool. It is at a isolated beach that they stop off at for lunch on a day trip. Misool has a faster boat from Sorong now and when i went Papua Paradise i had to wait in a hotel for 6 hours for the transfer boat which i really did not like . For night diving, i prefered Misool. But as you know it can be a lottery! So as you can see, hard to choose between the two!!! : )
Thank you for the nice comment. Misool Eco resort is the only resort in the whole area... i flew from Singapore to Jakarta then Jakarta to Sorong. From Sorong the resort has a nice boat which takes about 4 hours to get there. All food etc is included in the package. Have a great day and let me know if you need any other info.
No! Its fine... around the huts the snorkelling is fantastic. There are black tips around but they will totally ignore you! Its an amazing place for snorkelling, where you see giant Manta and many other fantastic things!
Hi, i think it would be a perfect location. The house reef is only 2 to 3m before the drop off and is full of sharks, turtles, napoleon fish etc.. In fact when i stayed there there were more people snorkelling than diving and they saw everything: Oceanic Mantas, Sharks etc... they even saw a school of hundreds of rays. Something that i missed!!! There are are also many snorkelling /freediving sites. I hope this helps.
DARWIN travelled the seas and studied in such islands full of wonderful birds and animals and trees . He said : " The evidence that God doesn't exist is : Why God would create this wonderful animals ( fishes flora also ) if human beings cannot see them , and enjoy them ?? Yes ! My Darwin ! MOST of human beings will NEVER enjoy to see so many fishes , birds and flora . If you don't understand something in the Bible , it is just not yet the time to understand it . NOT YET . So , don't throw it overboard ! The Bible says that God will destroy those who destroy the earth , in Revelation 11 ; 18 50 yeats ago , this verse was unintelligible incompréhensible .
Watched this again and miss our wonderful trip
Was a great trip! We should all do another one soon….👍🏻
I love the fast forward motion of the fishes .. this is awesome
Thanks Ferin! You know those sharks are not in fast forward! They were feeding so zooming around like rockets! Have a great day!!!

Incredible Video mate ! What is the rate US $$ at this place....and how do you get there ? From the Indonesian side, or Port Moresby ?

Is it too dangerous to snorkel in the reef area? (because of sharks)
No! Its fine... around the huts the snorkelling is fantastic. There are black tips around but they will totally ignore you! Its an amazing place for snorkelling, where you see giant Manta and many other fantastic things!
How would Misool be for people who don't dive but are fairly capable freedivers down to about 40-50 feet (15m)?
