Bruce is the only artist whose lyrics perfectly manage to capture masculinity's paradoxes - the bravado, the vulnerability, the strength, the doubt, the pressure to live up to it all... This song is a perfect example of this.

I never knew how much I would like the Tunnel of Love album until I played it, and for that matter the Boss. It's a masterpiece and I love the whole album. Walk like a Man is so touching and gets you right to the core. I lost my Dad to cancer awhile back and I'm trying my best to be half the man he was. I can't help from crying when I hear this song and the memories of him and what life is. Be strong and walk like a man!!

My favourite Bruce song - can only attribute his reluctance to play it live to the sadness of his father's memory. I've been there too - like BobbyF, I think of my late father every time I hear this - it's a form of self-torture but it brings him back.

lost my dad the week of my college graduation 30 years ago. This song always hits home. Dad, I’ve tried to walk like a man.

I always think of my Daddy, who died much too young, every time I listen to this wonderful song. Like Bruce, I did trail after my Dad on the beach, trying to fit my child's feet into his foot prints, trying to walk like a man. The Boss was a Jersey shore kid. My beach was Far Rockaway Beach, in Queens, NY. Both places were hit hard by Super Storm Sandy & I'm sure both our Dad's would be helping out in the rebuilding, if they were still alive.

I bought this cd today for $1 brand new. I was so surprised when I got home. Every song is wonderful. It is like a story he is telling in every song. This song about his father and learning and life. I doubt we will see another like Bruce.

The song that came on the radio in the car as I was driving to make the wake/funeral arrangements for my dad who had just passed. I can't get through the opening bars without misting up. Now it's come full circle and my son is to be married in April of '11. It means as much to me on this "end" as it did then

totally understandable. If I'm ever listening and something pulled me away from the song if it's in my car on TV Ellen RUclips I feel so guilty for cutting it off the cause all of his songs amazing and heartwarming. the best rock and roll the best soul the best love songs and any genre of music Bruce takes it to the highest level in everyone.

I love this! This is one I hadn’t heard until I found this video. Just another example of how Bruce can normally cut right to the heart of the truth with often very few words. And in spite of the fact that he himself has said he’s not a master of the piano I absolutely love it when he’s behind the keys.❤

Fun to see Bruce play piano and his voice sounds awesome. This song is another one of his treasures that never got a lot of attention on the radio. He has so many incredible songs like that dont get played live very often. One of the best songwriters bar none. Bob Dylan is up in this rareified air as well.

Dylan is far more accomplished in terms of his lyrical ability. But I prefer Springsteen because of the emotion that goes into his songs. There's only a few Dylan songs that carry the same kind of emotional depth.

time can help heal those wounds.... but the first step has to come from you.....no matter what happened there, there's always the chance for forgiveness (either yourself or to or from others) and hope in every new day. If you look closely at Bruce's music he always finds a way to weave in hope in the most desperate of circumstances :)

well said outlaw. people think that Dave done too much wrong or too much time has passed when in all reality forgiveness is just a sentence away. appreciate your advice to whoever you were talking to because people need to know it's never too late to ask for or to give forgiveness
